Miles Kvndra | Digitone + OP-1 Techno Jam No. 5
Вставка
- Опубліковано 3 жов 2020
- Hi friends, here is Digitone Techno Jam No. 5 and this one is a bit different: In the previous jams I’ve always used the @WeAreElektron Digitone standalone, this time it is joined by the @teenageengineering OP-1 - really like the combo and I’m happy to hear what you think! All sounds are coming from the OP-1 and the Digitone and the setup is recorded into my Olympus LS-5 recorder. Some fine tuning in iZotope Ozone - and we’re good to go!
Big s/o to Jeremy from @RedMeansRecording for his awesome OP-1 pack that I used in this jam! Grab the pack here: gumroad.com/l/TRfLrGF
Thanks for tuning in,
Miles

Holy shit! When those vocals drop, my whole body shivvvers! Sweet Jesus this is intense.
Thanks a bunch Steven! That is such a great feedback. 🙏🏻
I love your stuff, man. Everything is perfect.
Thank you James, so happy to hear that you dig the music. Much appreciated! 💚
Incredible jam! I loved it! Very nicely photographed as well. 😍 You channel looks really good, I am subscribing now! 😍
Thank you very much for the sub, that's awesome to hear! Also happy to hear that you are digging the art style too :) Cheers!
Clean and peaceful ❤
Thanks Luis! Much appreciated:)
The wobble on the baseline is great, really good me moving. I like how in the full mix you dont hear the wobble so much until at the of the loop. Makes thinks dynamic.
Thanks again, mate! Yeah I applied different LFO settings on the bass sound for each pattern to give it a bit more movement. Cool that you heard that :)
Hell yeah! Unexpected but awesome combo! Vibing the gear expansion!
Hahaha cheers buddy! Really like the combo, although I have to say it took me quite some time to be fluid with it and don't press too many wrong buttons. 😁
Jo miles! press it on vinyl!
Matches to my set totally!
Love your vibe!!!
Cheers Jay! Thank you so much for all the nice feedback. And yeah some of my music on vinyl would be super nice but it's just so expensive. 😁 Once I have it I will let you know. 🙌🏻
For real. Where do I send money?
Casual Techno. Very smooth and expertly programmed and performed. #majestic 👌🏻
Thank you so much, James! Really appreciate the feedback :)
You got that drive Sir. 👍🏽
Cheers mate - love your OP-1 beats! Grüße aus Kölle :)
This is amazing dude... totally underrated imo
Cheers Anthony! Really appreciate the feedback 🤙
What a great vibe, inspiring!
Cool, happy to hear that you find it inspiring!
So good man, I enjoy it alot!
I'm happy to hear that and thanks a bunch for the feedback - I really appreciate it! 🙏🏻
This is so solid. Truly epic sounds coming from those little boxes.
Thank you! Glad you like the joint jam as well :)
Love every minute of this! That Digitone is straight memorizing!!!
Thanks so much buddy! Would seriously love to see how the Digitone would add to your setup and music!
Awesome vocals on top of a good arrangement, nice work.
Thanks again and yeah, like the vocals too. Really cool how the OP-1 extends the possibilities with the Digitone
wow this is awesome 👌😎
Hey Aljoša, thanks a lot! Really appreciate the feedback 🙏🏼
sounds dope man!
Thank you!
Magical
Thank you!
That was amazing :_)
Thank you very much! Appreciate it
This is so delicious my ears are watering , fidelity is outta this world , Wowzerz
Cheers again haha, getting some Underbelly vibes here
Finally someone with talent, making the most of their gear and creating professional sounding music. Well done!
Wow, thank you for your feedback! Great to hear that the music sounds professional to other ears 😁 Cheers!
How are you SO FREAKING GOOD?? Love it!
Thanks a bunch! Really appreciate this awesome feedback. 🙏🏻🙂
🚀 nice
Thank you!
That was amazing, you have a new fan and subscriber. Loving your tutorials and tips that I can implement in my Digitone. Thank you 😊
So many thanks, Lloyd! Happy to hear that you can use the tutorials fpr your own workflow with the Digitone. Keep on jamming! :)
@@MilesKvndra You are welcome 😊, I just watched your Bass Lead Sound Moog Synth in the style of Stephen Bodzin. Just one question and I'm going to sound like a complete novice. ' How do I save the new sound, please ?'
@@LloydRobinson just go into the sound manager and choose an empty slot in one of your sound banks. On this slot you press right arrow and choose 'export to here' - done!
@@MilesKvndra was just about to say I found out how to rename and save to an empty slot/bank but thank you 😊
Man you rock! Sub’d! 🤘🏻
Thanks so much for the sub man! Appreciate it and happy to hear that you like the jams! 😍
Nice!!
👌😎
Thanks Darryl! 🤙
Very good :)
Thanks Daniel! :)
Ganz cooler track !:-)
Vielen Dank dir, Dieter! Freut mich zu hören, dass er gefällt! :)
Solid.
Thank you! 🤙
I like your technique bro! Nice!
Thanks buddy! Can give that back, keep up the great content!
@@MilesKvndra Thank you a lot! Hey I just read the description and you have put @ to mention channels, how did you do it? :)
Just type @ followed by channel name in the description and they're automatically mentioned :)
@@MilesKvndra this doesn't work on mine, it's strange
@@NoisyMachines that's strange indeed. Just tried it again and it still works for me
Me sub look forward to enjoying all your creations
Thanks man!
Very nice vibes. I am starting to like the Digitone more than the Digitakt. Hard decision which one to choose.
Thank you, glad to hear that! I think both machines are great pieces of gear - If I had to choose I would go with the Tone but the combo of both machines is really amazing and offers so many great opportunities.
Just listening to this song again. Weill I got the DIgitone! Down the rabbit hole I go.
Realy nice düngelidüngididi sound *.*
Das sind die besten Sounds. 💚
This was fantastic. What a groove 🚀 OP-1 and Digitone seem to be a great combo. Any plans to do an OP-Z + Digitone jam? Love the Z.
Hey Seth, thanks for the lovely feedback! Great that you dig this older jam as well and it is a great combo indeed. :) Since I have my Digitakt I prefer to use this with the Digitone and keep the OP-1 standalone but it's still a great combo. I sold my OP-Z about one year ago - just realized that it wasn't my kind of device and I was missing the visual feedback in form of a screen more than I initially thought. But great to hear that you love it! :)
greesy
Thanks Alexander!
Really great stuff!! No midi between op-1 and DT?
Thanks man! Yep there's no MIDI, because the OP-1s MIDI clock is not the most stable - so I just hit play on both devices at the same time. ;)
@@MilesKvndra that works out really well!
I just purchased a Digitone Keys today because of your tutorials! 😊
How long does it take for you to put together something like this?
Thanks so much this means a lot! :) The time really depends: I think this is all in all about 10-15 hours work, but it's hard to say, because I did this in several sessions. And it really depends from jam to jam, sometimes I loose myself in sounddesign and this can take a lot of time!
Beautiful tune! I'm brand new to synthesisers/samplers etc. and looking at getting a Digitone + TR-8S combo. I was wondering in the above video what exactly is coming out of each of the pieces of equipment? And what's the purpose of adding the OP-1 on top of the Digitone? Thank you!
Thanks Clark and welcome to the world of synthesizers! Have never played the TR-8S but from what I've seen this looks like a great companion for the Digitone. In this jam the Digitone is the main synth that I use for Drums, Bass, Lead and Arp. The main use of the OP-1 is for samples: It brings in the vocal samples, some additional percussion and supporting the transitions between patterns. I recently released a tutorial on how I setup and use these two devices together explaining everything in more detail: ua-cam.com/video/ZnDo_RQHVrY/v-deo.html
@@MilesKvndra thank you so much, I'll check out your tutorial!! :)
@@evilmidnightbomber you have excellent taste in gear, especially for a new player. Welcome to the club! My TR-8S is the first thing I bought and I still love it so much. Check out @belibat channel for tutorials and great music.
Miles, this is an amazing set! I would like to begin creating music like this but I have no previous experience. Do you think is it possible to begin with the Digitone?
Hey Flavio, many thanks for reaching out and your feedback! Regarding your question: I think it definitely is possible to start your musical journey with the Digitone as I think it is a great standalone synthesizer. But there are other people out there that wouldn't agree on that, I think cause the Elektron devices have a very specific workflow not everyone gets along with. :D I would recommend the following: See if you have a synthesizer store somewhere near your place that has the Digitone and give it a shot there. You'll see if the workflow suits you or not.
And if you just want to check on music creation and see if that's your thing I would try a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation). I use Ableton and can highly recommend it. You have a 30 days trial in the software to check out f you like it: www.ableton.com/
If you take the time to learn it, it might be the only thing you'll ever need!
@@kwaping absolutely!
Please make us a good depth tutorial pleaseeee
What would you be interested in? Setting up the OP-1 and the Digitone?
@@MilesKvndra I'd like to see something on just how you use the Digitone, I've got a Digitakt and feel I want a Digitone now, you have so much drum going on, are you using 1 track and putting different drums on different trigs?
@@buddymiles7210 hey Grant, thanks for that! I'm using all my drums on one track, and then my other instruments (bass, lead, arps, etc.) on the other tracks. I think this tutorial here gives a good overview of my workflow with the Digitone: ua-cam.com/video/IYxzq8OBdQI/v-deo.html
@@MilesKvndra Cheers man, how have you gone using the two, DT + DN, in live performances, see you only have the 2 video, do you prefer the DN + OP-1
@@buddymiles7210 hey Grant, I love the OP-1 but when it comes to combos I definitely prefer the DN+DT combo. I'm currently planning a tutorial for this combo, should be out within the next few weeks! :)
Karate!
👀🤼
Nice. More like the grandchild of Chicago House rather than techno....👍🏽
Thanks Andrew and you're right! Especially the B section has some Chicago House vibes
what did yo you use the op 1 for? the vox sample?
Yeah and also some additional hihats/percussions, a synth in the background and rising sounds to make the transitions from pattern to pattern
Miles Kvndra are you in la ?
@@BenjaminBeak I'm based in Germany, but LA is awesome
Would much rather me in Germany in right now haha. But dang would love to have a post covid session. Check out @birdstudiosla Instagram.
@@BenjaminBeak haha can imagine that. Session would be great, will do
Nicee! Direkt zweimal angehört :D
Geil, danke dir Annegret! 😍
Loved this!
The OP-1 keeps calling out to me.
But I think I will resist.
The Digitone will be the one I add to my Digitakt.
No Digitakt for you?
Cheers mate! Got the OP-1 used for a reasonable price before TE lifted the price. Although it's a great synth I think the current retail price is way too high. Digitakt and Digitone must be a great team - Digitakt is definitely next on my purchase list :)
