I go for the duck eggs, pasture raised. I can afford paying a bit more since I don't waste money on junk. The eggs are bigger and more robust than chicken eggs. I love the flavor.
You forgot something and it's something most won't bother with or give it a thought: the shells can be eaten. Are they better than the egg shells? Well, they are larger, so a few duck egg shells can last a long time. Boil a bunch for a few mins(not 100% sure this is necessary, but people fear disease from shells)then 10min in a warm oven, very light toast color, blitz in a blender until a fine powder. 1/2 teaspoon maybe even 1/4th is more than the calcium you need for 1 day, and it also is the type of calcium that absorbs best, so you don't need to have eggshell powder each day(thoughts?).
Being a small scale duck farmer, this is my favorite video! Thank you for sharing this information. I started, getting the ducks as pets and then really started researching their eggs once they started laying and realized the benefits. Very little difference in taste. And it makes you more comfortable knowing what they have been fed
Home made salted duck eggs are wonderful and keep in the fridge for a month. Soak, completely covered 30 eggs using 500g of salt. After 12 days test your eggs for saltiness. Steam 1 egg for 20 min cool and eat. If you want the eggs saltier soak longer. Test again. Finally steam all the eggs.
Thanks for the info! I love duck eggs. I have 1 drake and 4 duck hens. Finally figured out how to steam them to make easy to peel "hard boiled" eggs. I will try your recipe! Thanks again!
One duck egg equals two chicken eggs in recipes. We have ducks and chickens running over the three acres. There is also Guinea hens and three heritage breed turkeys
I mix 2 duck with 4 pasture raised chicken eggs and grass fed butter every day for lunch. It’s soooo good I look forward to eating it like it’s dessert!
Ever since I moved to China I eat duck eggs daily, they are very cheap here, sometimes cheaper then chicken eggs which are also very cheap on the plus side they are free range chickens & ducks
I think in order to properly compare the two types of eggs the testing grounds should be similar for both. This is just a comparison of one. There are many studies and some great UA-cam reports that show that small farm chicken eggs are more nutritious than store bought. Certainly interesting but I would be more interested in a like for like comparison.
I used to buy and eat 7 free range duck eggs a day. But recently they disappeared because they are more expensive and people try to save money on food. So, farmers had no other option but to kill the ducks. Poverty is on rise in here. Thanks to lockdowns, etc. Greetings from Thailand.
Ducks eggs have always been my favourites😍always get them from my auntie she has ducks and chickens running around freely eating grass and bugs🤢in her massive garden .We've never bought eggs from the shops.i get through like 30 or more per week😅 i cant imagine life without eggs😭
I love my duck eggs, and I have the choice between double yolk duck eggs or single yolk! We have them available all year round at two of my local farms and the price difference is minimal here in my region of Canada at least compared with organic cage free chicken eggs.
Duck egg shells are much thicker, the yolks are bigger (and very tasty) and the whites are much more fluffy. Ducks eggs are always 'pasture' raised since that is how ducks live.
i need your opinion on the bone broth i made, should i let it sit for 8 hours so it cools down and let it separate so all bad stuff float to the top and trash it, then eat the broth?
I strain mine whilst it’s still hot through a cheese cloth type thing and sieve that takes out most of the stuff. Then I let it cool I put it in a spare empty fridge to get it to cool quickly as possible. The fat on the top I scrape off and use for cooking if it’s Beef broth tallow … if it’s chicken broth I just leave it in the bone broth. Good fats full of nutrients
@@helenalovelock1030 thank you for putting time off of you life and helping me out, its my first time making broth and you honestly helped me out for a lifetime. thank you thank you, that truly helps. much love buddy.

Duck eggs make delicious scrambled eggs and omelets. To me they taste much better than chicken eggs, even when both are from pastured fowl. Hard to get where I live. Some farmers’ markets have them here (not the last time I checked: the usual farmer had stopped showing up) but I do volunteer work now on Saturdays and can’t go to the markets.
(Harry) I agree, but the cost, for me that is, outweighs the benefits. I'm really into the protein and low on fat right now because my body is now fat adapted and I really don't need the fat that much. But I do need the D vit. But again it comes down to the cost. I'll basically just take my D vit pill. Great information Thanks again.
When baking or making food with several eggs, replace one with a duck egg. Unreal results. Eating a duck egg like a soft boiled egg might not work for you, it's very rich and fatty and might not be suited for all.
I went to Highschool with Mike O'Hearn. He stuck up for me when during hard times with my classmates at Juanita High. (Go Rebels) But I raise my own chickens. Many benefits. They also keep the weeds in the yard down (if you have a big yard that's a big plus). But the yokes are much yellower. They like to eat bugs which are soo rich in minerals and protein. Everybody loves my eggs.
Great video. I’ve seen a few top chefs compete over making the best omelette. The winners secret ingredient was including 1 duck egg with 2 chicken eggs. It’s just richer and more flavourful
I am in charge of a duck and just now she is giving eggs, so i control the food she eats mostly. It is always a little sad to take the eggs because she looks sad for a while after, for some reason chickens dont look sad, I see her looking for the eggs after.
Mike O'Hearn Duck Eggs are out of this world! Kidding! But good to know that the macronutrients of duck eggs are similar to regular eggs except for the amount of vitamin d in the duck eggs. Thanks for the info and vid!
I found a farmer that sells duck eggs for cheap. Pasture-raised and everything, $3.50 per dozen. I got lucky but that may be an avenue for some people to look at. They're definitely more expensive at farmers markets or wherever you can find them. Duck eggs are delicious. Since they're noticeably bigger than chicken eggs, I don't eat as many in one sitting. Any info on goose eggs, besides the fact they're harder to find, expensive, and delicious?
Damn, would love to use Unbun, but as usual the UK is behind the times when it comes to this sort of product. 🙄 and they don’t have any retail provider here. 🤷🏻♀️
Well this is just spooky! I'm here in England and I've recently switched to eating organic duck eggs, after years of eating organic hen eggs, and was debating whether to mix the two for nutritional reasons, because I just prefer everything about duck eggs.
I put duck eggs into a Keto version of chocolate mousse. It tasted fine but there was an aftertaste reminiscent of duck diet. Not the case with scramble duck eggs but they are heartier than their counterparts for sure!
Feeding chickens a vegetarian diet is, arguably, animal cruelty. Any producer that boasts of it is a fool at least, setting aside any moral issues. Then again, there are surely consumers who insist on eggs from chickens deprived of animal food, even if it’s only insects and worms… perhaps not so foolish if one’s trying to make a profit.
.. i remember you mention duck eggs in a video.. whole foods carries them.. they were disgusting and filling.. to my taste.. im sticking with chicken eggs..

Apparently ducks are better foragers than chickens (they can get stuff that lives in the water, etc) which contributes to a better nutrient profile.

Lmao I raise ducks and just have them in my backyard. Legit I just go outside every morning and grab my breakfast
Ducks eat a lot of minnows that's probably one of the reasons why their egg nutrient profile is so much better especially the vitamin D
