- Neil Young performs "Old Man" live at the Farm Aid concert in Tinley Park, Illinois on October 3rd, 1998. Farm Aid was started by Willie Nelson, Neil Young and John Mellencamp in 1985 to keep family farmers on the land and has worked since then to make sure everyone has access to good food from family farmers. Dave Matthews joined Farm Aid's board of directors in 2001.

Neil Young fills a stadium just like any other new age artist. Yet he doesn't have to dress in $1000's worth of clothes. Only his guitar, a harmonica and a t shirt, Jeans, and sneakers.
Does he tell you how to dress?
Because he actually has talent!
And he does sport a hat really well. That’s a talent all on its’ own.

This song really deserves the steel guitar that cries so hard. But this semi-acoustic version is the best version I've heard of his without the steel guitar that has the lament.
I heard this song when I was 13yrs ols, my older brother had a friend wholent him his albums, now I am 49 and still gives me great memories. Peace Neil Young....

Shame there's so little camera on how he plays the guitar.
This is how I discovered him, and I didn't like him with his young voice. He is way better with his old voice, a voice that can tell stories.

His name was Louie Avila. He and his wife lived on the ranch when Neil Young purchased it in the 1970's. Louie stayed on as a ranch boss until his retirement.
He found me as a runaway in the nineteen seventies , along with Mother Nature on the run.....and been with me ever since!
