Very interesting, I haven't bought a Burgman yet but I am definitely intrigued by this.
Excellent. In Cuba, they have been drilling 15 inch VW wheels and lacing them to a Harley hub to mount car tires on for many years, as motorcycle tires are hard to get there. It's controversial, but I know many here that have done it for decades with no problems. I will probably go to the Darkside when my 2009 Burgman needs a new tire.
Russel Allen yes many people are doing it with great success. Thanks for watching 👍
I will look for you on my next visit to Cuba. I was supposed to be there right now. COVID-19 stopped that.
I ran car tires on my Vulcan for many miles. Yes they want to run flatter, but, one mile of use you are used to it. I realized so much more wear and changed less often and it made running cruise control a dream.
Kajuniter Yes I agree I have about 5k miles on my tire now with no noticeable difference except less wear. Of course I’m not scraping pegs either 👍🏻
ManCave Mayhem I have zero problems in hard turns on my XVS 1100 classic and I scrape the pegs so often they are not looking good , scraping them before was touch and go , I could always feel the arse of the bike falling away from me , not once has this happened DarkSide
Motorcycle/Scooter Tires have Rounded Edges so that you will have Traction around Curves in the Road as you Swing them around Sharp Turns unlike Car Tires that have Square Edges...
a proper motorcycle or scooter tire is way less of a hassle(and less painful) than a skin graft, car tires have an entirely different profile, casing sidewall flex etc, there is a reason insurance companies wont cover you in a crash with car tires on your bike/scoot,if you want to save money do it elsewhere, these two clowns are a joke, yes you may get away with the swap but on the corners this scoot with two different profile/types of tires would potentially be dangerous and handling would be like holding a bag of pissedoff snakes, comeon folks, you have two tiny little contact patches on bikes, scoots, you want the best possible traction and tires that were designed for the vehicle.
WOW!
This is true but he was right about one thing I’m a moron🤣👍🏻
i do apologize for calling you guys clowns, anyway folks apparently can and do put car tires on scoots with no adverse affects, who knew, keep those vids acoming mayhem boys@@ManCaveMayhem
artisan mustangs no worries 😉
I run my wifes spare tire on mine, ;)
Its Been 2years since this video so would you mind giving us a long term review
Update On darksiding a Suzuki Burgman ua-cam.com/video/FeVX48U_QxM/v-deo.html
My update is the Federal suffered cord separation at one spot on the right side, my dealer tried to install a new one but gave up, even damaging the new tire, he walked away from the deal and did not charge me.
I then ordered a Economist ATR-K, same issue with not seating, I took it to another shop who had a secret procedure and not affaid to go above 100psi to seat it. My compressor at home doesn't have the gonads.
I'm running motorcycle tires on my spare rim and saving the CT for a little trip in June 2021 where I will need the longer tread life.
BTW I did have to repair the under seat box where the CT rubbed holes on both sides of the hump.
@@donaldjones3580 Yikes! Seems like a failed attempt. On my Gold Wings, I have enjoyed success with non run flats. I followed tire model suggestions from other Darksiders to avoid fitment problems. I do my own mounting with NoMar stand and MoJo Lever.
Great video , I've been Double DarkSide for over 1.5 years now , I feel way safer and this bike sticks to the road way better than any motorcycle tyre has ever done for me in 38 years of riding , wish I new about this sooner , the price is just a bonus , if I had to pay twice as much for ct on my ride I would gladly do it , never going back to them slippery shit motorcycle tyres again (except on the front )
GOOD FOR YOU .. I HAVE THEM ON 3 OF MY BIKES AND SCOOTERS AND THEY ARE GREAT AND LAST 5 TIMES LONGER ABD HANDLE GREAT . DONT LISTEN TO THE NARROW MINDED SHEEP..
What size tire did you use on the front?
JAM4382 I use a Michelin commander 2 back bike tyre on the front in reverse rotation , same size tyre for front as before
@@JAM4382 thanks for posting have not as yet gone dark siding but soon as I find shop that will Mount and balance that's the way I'm going tired of being ripped off by high MC Friday prices with no mileage we're getting screwed
There was a bump towards the plastic.it could damage the plastics.so what about using an bigger size shock absorbers
Somebody also suggested hitting the plastic underneath and pushing it in to avoid rubbing. I think that was also a good suggestion👍🏻
Good work,many greetings from Germany
I installed the Federal tire on my Burgman per your recommendation, I like the narrower width. I had issues with some C-tires on the Goldwing using wide tires, really feeling the corner, narrower was better on it also. Have a trip to Nevada in July; 2,418 miles to Ely.
Donald Jones good I hope it all performs well for you. I love mine👍
how did you get it to POP on the bead all the way around? I had the exact same tire up to 110 psi and no luck was still 1cm from beading in an 8 inch area on both sides no luck
Got some real world performance figures like stopping distances wet and dry, scooter tyre versus regular car radial?
No I don't unfortunately "I'm just a man in a cave!" but I am posting up a follow up video on the pros and cons that I've experienced using the tire long term. Hope this helps and thanks for watching.
My Diablo rossa 2 ended up with a flat profile anyway so I don't see the problem. There are a lot of folks who have not tried it at all. You have to get the right car tire with the right profile . At $140 a pop I would want you to buy motorcycle tires only too if we're selling them. If it works then run it .
LESLIE DAVIS All I can say is I’ve ran mine more than half way across the USA 🇺🇸 with zero problems.
I bought a used Honda 350 a number of years ago. It wasd really squirreley around corners. I took it to the Honda dealer and they told me it was the back tire, it was not matched up with the front. They put a "matched" new tire on the rear and it ws perfect. So my question is with the mismatched treads and clearly different style tires, how come there was no difference for you? I think it's an interesting idea though.(I am not mechanical enough to do it myself). I can say I had a Burgman 650 and loved it. Traded it in on a Can Am Spyder RTS. I do believe thre would be no problem with car tires on the Spyder, do you?
roger bradley I think the Spyder would work well with car tires. I would do some research and see if anyone has done it before. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
Hi
I have about a year on a ST 1300 with a car tire, the same tire they run on the Cooper Mini.
I found no serious problems. After seating the bead remove the valve core. the tire does rub on the swing arm until fully in place with the rear axle in, then inflate. Try various pressures to find the optimum pressure.
I ride single up mostly
The tire runs better with around 32 psi inflation. OEM tires need 42psi. The lower pressure allows side wall flex so the tread does not lift as much in a turn.
I find when running across uneven pavement I get a slight "Steer. I noticed the same thing with OEM tires.
I am no longer a "Knee Slider" riding more like an older gent.
Google The dark side and find a forum that covers car tire use.
After hearing claims of 30,000 miles on a car tire I had to try it. Especially afte replacing front and rear oem tires a t3000 miles.
Good luck
Dennis Williams Thanks for the information. We are getting great feedback on this topic. Thanks for watching 😎
Dennis Williams - You said "After seating the bead ...". Because a car tire has a different bead to a bike tire, a car tire bead CAN NOT seat properly on a bike rim. It is not physically possible.
illegal in most of Europe. insurance void, bike impounded, 6 point on licence, £300 fine.
MOT test fail. and no banking around corners .... shame bike tyres are not made to last
They are getting better. I really had zero problems with it except for clearance issues. I ran it about 7k miles with little to no wear.
I have about 80,000Km on two different car tires on my '05 Yamaha Majesty 400. I went back and forth between car and motorcycle tires several times because I kept getting free tires on rims (long story). The difference in feel and handling was more noticeable with car-motorcycle changes than with motorcycle-car swap, but it was never serious enough to justify the motorcycle tire price and (lack of) longevity. I regularly tour on my Majesty, from 1,000Km days to 800Km of gravel on Trans-Labrador Highway. The car tire never failed me.
BTW, I found that the car tire works much better when underinflated. OEM says 30psi, but I keep mine at about 25psi. Handles considerably better that way.
I’m telling you they work 👍🏻 great! Thanks for your comment and thanks for watching✌️
Thanks for you all❤
I put the same size and brand of tire on mine last fall and now have about 8K miles on it. My impression is that it works fine. No handling issues at all. No clearance issues and it is lasting far longer than the original tire. I got about 7K miles on the first rear tire so I am already way beyond that.
Ken Nolte Thanks for the info! I’m sure you’ll get more than triple the miles. Ride safe😎👍
Thanks for your impression because I want to try it but I was worried Abt🙏
How does it take the turns not having the oval shape bike tire? Either way may the force be with u
Michael sova I haven’t experienced any issues. I’m not scraping pegs or anything like that but it seems to handle well.
I run motorcycles tires on my Mazda MX5/Miata, gained 125Hp
Do they not see why you should not use a car tyre on a bike. Is the profile radius not a big enough clue to these guys? All together now "I am working on a skin graft all the scabby day."
No skin graft here🤣
This is cool
It works pretty good thanks my friend 👍🏻
WHAT ABOUT A TRAILER TIRE? PLEASE COMMENT
ALSO I THOUGHT ABOUT A "SPARE TIRE DOUNUT" THERE "ROUNDED" BUT THERES A RECOMMENDED MILEAGE?
FIGHTS 4FREEDOM I wouldn’t recommend either of those.
If the vast majority of riding is on straight flat land, and or you're too broke to afford proper tires for a motorcycle, go right ahead put a car tire on a motorcycle.
Will do👍🏻
But how was driving it ? Do you feel a difference? With like corners ?
Not a big difference that I could really tell, and we did quite a few twisties up the coast of California.
I darksided mine about 3 years ago, the tire still looks new. I can't really tell a difference in handling. I did crank my shocks to the max setting for when my wife rode with me. The one thing it did do is make the speedometer read correct. With the bike tire my speedometer was exactly 10% off like all of them, now it's real close to being correct.
bc65925 That’s awesome to hear. I think it will work out well. Thanks for watching 😎
So your Speedo runs off the back wheel?
Nice. One question can a car tire be installed in the front as well.
I’ve heard of people doing it, but I’ve never tried it
As far as dark siding goes this is probably the safest kind of way to do it.
I never had any issues except for clearance.
How bout an update on how the car tire is working and how many miles are on it now?
easyrider4x Will be working on an update for the car tires soon and will post up a video about that.
Fingers crossed is pagan believe
That's a great idea, but how did it handle with the car tire? Was it harder to turn, or did there feel like less traction on the turn? Road noise? Also, do you think a 2003 Burgman is a good buy now, if it's cheap with low miles, or is that too old and hard to get parts?
Amerikrainian The tire works great! I’ve put over 6,000 mi. On it and it shows little to no wear. If the 2003 is in good shape buy it 👍🏻
Ebay has all your needs
Brilliant! 🙏
I've never put a car tire on my motorcycle/scooter nor have I ridden one with a car tire which makes expressly qualified to vehemently state that you are wrong and have done a terrible, inexcusable deed. Thx
BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
After running dark on my Honda PC800 and my GW1800 with total satisfaction I knew that had to give it a try on my lovely Burgman. That was like 8 years ago now and never have I regretted it. I can still corner until the floorboards scrape and I sure do love the 20K+ miles out of that less than $100 tire. Go back to a MC tire? What for? Taking a step backward on my opinion.
It definitely makes it nice and easy to maintain with the car tire on the rear. What people don’t realize it handles just as well too.
@@ManCaveMayhem Yes, thank you! I heard _so many times_ (always from someone that has never tried it) how dumb and foolhardy it is. Many years ago when I first went to the darkside I will admit that the handling was a bit different than with an OEM tire, but by the time I got home from the place that mounted it I was comfortable with it. My only bike that does not have a CT on the back now is my little 200 cc Suzuki Van Van and I think that if I could run a tubeless tire on it then that would too. 👍
Can you please tell me make and size of that tire? I'm about to swap out my rear and Darkside is the way I want to go .. Thx
@@Red-mt3ot Sure. It's a Bridgestone Potenza RE92 195/65/14. I think that there are a number of us that use that tire.
@@Red-mt3ot unfortunately I don’t have that tire any longer. I thought I included it in one of the other videos but maybe I didn’t I think the make of it is in the video.
My neighbor is selling a 2014 burgman 650 not executive for 5800. What do you think it’s worth? Very clean 15k miles.
Not sure I originally paid 5800 for my 2012 with 1,200 mi. On it.
Gentlemen...I live in N. Calif....Who does the installation of the tire on the rim? I have heard that none of the car tire stores will install a car tire on a motorcycle rim by citing liability..
harleycharley I went to a local tire shop and they installed it no questions asked and they said they do it occasionally on motorcycles. Good luck and ride safe👍🏻
@@ManCaveMayhem ...thank you!! I will have to watch your video again to see what size it takes....I have about 2k miles left on my tire....WHAT ABOUT BALANCING??
harleycharley I don’t believe they balanced mine but it’s smooth as butter👍🏻
@@ManCaveMayhem ...I have noticed other guys said nothing about balancing when they went to the dark side....I really want to do this next time I change tires.
that same car tire does not fit on older 2003 burgmann 650 rims. I bought same car tire and is too small for the rim even tried overinflated to 120psi and NO LUCK. Had to get it off and destroyed the car tire and knicked my rim all up as well. Not saying it will not work for newer burgmanns, but buyer beware.
Rubbage?
brad turner I experienced minor rubbage with the rear shocks on the stock setting so I set them to the stiffest settings and so far so good. I hope this helps👍🏻
Darksiding is the worst idea in cycling period! motorcycle tires are designed to roll over as the bike leans flat or nearly flat tires are not thus giving up traction. NEVER DARKSIDE!!!
So is there a fix for the front tire as well.
Not sure I’ve never tried to dark side the front.
Viel Spaß beim Kurvenfahren😂😢😮
It Cornered just fine👍🏻
Not sure if I commented before but I'm using the Formoza tire and it did rub long holes on each side of the wheel hump on the under seat box when loaded with panniers and other stuff.
I went Dark Side on my Goldwing for about a year. It wasn't bad but didn't have the snappy response I was use too.
I see the benefits if you're traveling cross country and maybe stabbing via the Interstate, but when I'm on the back roads I just prefer the motorcycle tires.
Me too! Although there are some good things about dark siding, mainly the distance you can get out of a tire
I’ve had a car tire on my Burgman. I did rub a hole but a little modification of the box solves it
Yes and car tires wear and ride 👍🏻 great! 🇺🇸 Thanks for your comment and thanks for watching. Ride safe!
@@ManCaveMayhem They do. I’ve ridden over 20,000 miles and just got a new car tire
Well do you still like that tire. Iam working on getting one myself and I think I will try it as well.
air bagstx Yes I’m very happy with it I adjusted the air pressure to about 35 PSI and rode on it on a cross-country trip about 4,600 miles and found little to no wear.
do not do it bought the exact same federal formoza 155/65/14 and did not POP on the bead after a dozen attempts up to 110 psi and now after letting the tire sit 1cm from beading fully in an 8 inch area I deflated today and has 3 inch long cracks in the sidewall so just a waste of 45 bucks
Evil, evil men! 😁😂😂 But what about the front tire? Still have to change it out with stock tire wear.
Yes but the front MC tire wears quite a bit slower than the rear. In my experience you'll go through two maybe even three rear tires to every one front tire.
@@ManCaveMayhem Ok thx. I'm looking to get a Bergman 650 Exec. but trying to find a good used one is almost impossible. Will probably have to go new. Too bad they don't offer blue anymore.
@@ManCaveMayhem What is your average tire wear been on the MC tires? Thx.
Ictpilot Ictpilot rear about 6,000 mi. And the front is about 12,000 mi
@@ManCaveMayhem Thx!
Can you use a longer shock?
I have an attempted that or looked into that, but I’m sure that’s a possibility.
tire size of that car tire ? possible to do on 2006 burgman 400 ?
william cox I’ve seen it done, but there was rubbing issues. I’m not sure on that. The Suzuki forums should shed some light on things👍
Burgmans are cool scooters.
They are definitely unique machines👍🏻
Lol.....it’s a scooter nothing Dark about it, that 400cc monster burning the tires up that fast.
Well done guys. Now, you must prepare for the haters. You will get them. I got my share.
theSMYRNAcowboy Yes that is for sure. Can’t make everyone happy. Good to hear from you and ride safe!😎
If you're so stupid as to do this, putting yourself and other drivers in extra unnecessary danger, I hope that someone in your state notices and reports you to the dot.
Puffalupagus360 Thank you sunshine! Do you kiss your moms with those lips?
we aren't haters we are people that care about others and by promoting this crap on youtube you are endangering lives! If a new rider sees this and hes on a budget he wont think twice automatically trusting you and then he could end up injured or dead either from the tire exploding when he mounts it or from the poor handling.
It ain't hate bro. It's love. We want you to be safe out there. Peace.
Just wondrin. What of the insurance implications should there be a claim against you. My only concern this far??!!
David: If you are UK, it's against the law, thus no coverage. In the USA, if it is DOT tire AND no frame mods, then you are covered(Who knows about the future though). Russia can vary. Don't go by agent opinion, ask for it in writing as with any insurance concerns. Many will try to scare you because they think you won't call, question, and verify. Don't be intimidated.
I just love it. I just love stupid ideas, we all dream of, being executed :-)
NEW IDEAS ARE ALWAYS RIDICULED BY THE SHEEP IN THE HERD THAT WOULD NEVER STEP OUT OF THE STATUS QUO.. THE ONLY PEOPLE THAT POO POO THE IDEA ARE THE ONES THAT NEVER TRIED THIS.
Hi Mancave....Where in CA are you? I am outside of Eureka, CA...place called McKinleyville.
harleycharley Barstow Victorville area.
@@ManCaveMayhem ...Thanks...I have been thru there a number of times on my way to AZ
@@ManCaveMayhem Hell I go through there sometimes weekly. I should try and set up lunch or coffee at the Flying J with you.
Any special preparation for mounting the car tire on your Burgman? I can get the same tire you mentioned for $39.25 shipped to my house. I have a Harbor Freight manual tire changer & a bubble balancer. Thanks for the tip!
I took mine to a tire shop as they are difficult to put on.
Guys, get more on windy roads. Your tyres are square !
LISTEN TO THE ONES THAT HAVE DONE IT ……..
If motorcycles Were Meant to have car tires on them it would have come that way from the factory however I do agree that motorcycle tires wear out faster than a car tire however a car tire does not have the rounded edges for traction like a motorcycle tire that is why they are designed the way they are. They are designed but go ahead put the car tire on the rear of your motorcycle and when you're in traction in the hospital wondering why and what happened now you know play stupid games Win stupid prizes this should be illegal
10,000 miles across the United States on the car tire. No problem. Harley guys and Goldwing guys have been doing it for years. If it makes you feel better I’ve taken it off due to clearance issues so no worries. Thanks for your honest opinion. This was an experiment that I found worked out just fine. Thanks again for your input 👍🏻🇺🇸
Hello, Very helpful information . I purchased the Federal Formoza 155/65R 14 75 H tire off line. I took it to the tire shop and they had issues and said they could not get it to pop the bead and seat. Have you heard of any issues? Did I get the right tire? I took it to a friend who is a motorcycle mechanic and he felt he could get it seated later this week. Can you provide any advice? Thanks...
Still having issues getting the tire seated. Someone told me that I had to polish grind the original bead on the Burgman rim. Has anyone had to make any modification to the rim? Or do I just need to find a different tire?
people forget that tires are made out of rubber not steel so it does flex .
Here is the link for tire conversion...darkside.nwff.info/?p=tires
did that tire bead pop on the rim without trouble
Robert Leavens I had a tire shop put it on and they said it was more difficult that a standard motorcycle tire but not unreasonably hard.
@@ManCaveMayhem Hello Larry... I've been to a few shops & they are having trouble getting it to bead up. I'm here right now at 605 Motorsports & they can't do it. William Horsfall I had the tire installed by Town & Country tire in Apple Valley California. James took care of it for me.
@@ManCaveMayhem thank you very much!!! Got to give it a try. 👍
@@williamhorsfall8362 just give up mine did not POP all the way around the bead and letting it sit in 90 degree heat hoping to POP in place that 8 inches left 1cm is all did not work. I deflated and 3 inch long cracks in the rubber where the rim touches it on the edges so wasted 45 bucks on a new worthless torn tire federal formoza 155/65/14 same size, etc. up to 110 psi no luck
I have 2 concerns: The 1st is just the accuracy of the speedometer is affected by a different diameter and the 2nd, is more serious. A bike tire is designed for leaning. Its tread grooves and profile are for that purpose. A car tire is designed for sitting straight on the road with slight grooves in the edges for cornering. Therefore I would expect to have worse traction on a leaning bike with the car tire. This could be even more severe on a wet road because of insufficient channeling of the water.
Maybe the engineer that designed the tire for the burgman would have used a cheap car tire because it’s cheaper.
Baaahha
Ya.
I think he had the best videos on UA-cam
hi i vant to do this to, i think my tyre are getting hot when i am going fast maby it just old but is the cartyre cooler ?i have 42 psi i the rear on my burg 650 what do you have with the cartyre ?

I like that old van sitting in the background you don't see very many like it anymore
Clarence Swope Yes that soon will be a video too! 👍 We hope to have it running soon ! Thanks for watching.
It looks like it's 63 to a 67 Chevy please tell me if I'm wrong and it should have had a inline 6 with it 3 on the tree the inline 6 was sitting in the middle of the back if it is the one I think it is please let me know LOL haha I'm just trying to go from memory
But how it handles remains a bit unclear to me, in terms of grip in the corners.
XQCmoi I’ve never had any issues with grip as far as the handling in the corners adjustment of the air pressures necessary to find the right feel on the road. I am however having problems with clearance the tire does rub on the inner fender which basically is part of the under seat storage so I may be going back to a motorcycle tire for that reason. I put Almost 10,000 miles on the car tire now and travel through 17 states with it with zero problems other than what I’ve mentioned regarding clearance. Will be posting a video soon explaining my findings. I realize this is controversial but I actually found that the car tire performed well. I hope this helps.
Would of been nice to see the finished product, cool video though.

Michael Polkabla We have never put a car tire on the front and we don’t plan to do that. I’ve seen other videos where people have.
ManCave Mayhem , I run as they call it Double DarkSide , it's not a car tyre on the front , it is a back motorcycle tyre on the front in reverse rotation , I use a Michelin commander 2 back tyre on the front of mine , same size as I had on front previously , it felt very slightly different for a few turns but nothing drastic , this bike now being double DarkSide feels so safe compared to riding with standard bike tyres before , plus I have the bonus of extra miles and cheaper back tyre , I don't do it to be cheap , or I'd go cheap on the front , in the past I've always gone for best quality branded bike tyres , I do the same with my car tyre and my front bike tyre

OK Joonya, what ever you say.
However there are a lot of us riding on car tires.
When the bead pops in (Use plenty of what ever soapy lube you want.) This is the key use lots of soap. Some rim bead combos will need to go to 40+ psi to seat.
Look at the bead and see that it is even all the way around.
Re inflate to 32 PSI and check the tread and beads are running true. I can run my ST 1300 in gear on the center stand. You masy need to do something else.
Once you find the proper pressure you can ride it.
My tire rim combo did not need any balancing. No extra weights at all. Your combo may need a balance weight. My brother swore by the internal BBs.
Check "Riding the Dark side forum for data on your bike.
Thanks
Dennis Williams So far I’m loving mine!
MY GOD! there is a damn forum for this garbage?!!

From the Motorcycle Industry Council's *tire* *guide* : And never mount a passenger car tire on a motorcycle rim; the flat profile of a car tire is incompatible with the dynamics of a vehicle that leans as it corners, and the section of the tire in contact with the rim (the “bead”) is incompatible with motorcycle rims. As can be clearly seen in the test ride when cornering the car tire is leaned in such a way that only the far tread block on the outer edge of the tire is in contact with the road SO much so that daylight is visible under the rest of the tread.

Interesting. I am not qualified to judge if a car tyre will work safely on a scooter but here, in the UK, you would have other problems.
We have what's known as a MOT test. This is an annual safety and raodworthiness test. You will fail the test if you have tyres not specified by the scooter manufacturer. Also, if you have an accident and the insurance company sees that you have gone 'darkside' they may refuse to pay up on the claim. This could be expensive if you ran into a Ferrari, bounced off and then injured some pedestrians. You could be out of pocket by £200,000. Not worth it to save a few bucks on a tyre.
Fuck your laws...We don't care. Jeez, can't you Europeans ever talk about anything else? You are pathetic...
@@BEEBEE159 that's my thinking too,but I just got out of hull HMP
Just no I like corners
I get it. 👍🏻🇺🇸 Thanks for watching and ride safe.
Fuck! I can tell when my bike starts to square off it’s rear, it’s a horrible feeling. I’ll stick to the right profile 👍😀
Oh and in the uk it’s illegal to put the wrong type of tyre on too.
Ace vid tho, keep em coming 👍👍
vainparasite thanks for the input and stay safe over there👍🏻
Based on the size of your "chicken-stripe" on your real tire, your going to be just fine.
I'll stick with OEM tires because I need to lean it as far as it can go and still have traction.
Yes I thing that's a good observation, they where quite large areas at the edge of the tyre that where in excellent condition(I'm being diplomatic here)but if you ride hard in the corners and get to the edge of the tyre then car tyres would be SQUARE DEATH!
I am using a tire from a small plane. Now i can fly.
Got the clown shoes 👠 on🤣 I Like it👍🏻
Fuck .. We have in Ukraine these Burgman and so not so many, and even less spare parts. When I started looking for new tires, I found it on the rear wheel in only two online stores, and only Michelin and Metzeller. There were still some Chinese ones, but well, fuck them. Now, at least I will know what kind of automobiles I can deliver, sort of. And how do they behave in corners, does the wheel off the track in corners? Tall tourist glass cannot be found in this country either, the closest to me is fucking Poland, can you help with this? ))) Thanks for the answer))
We all want to save money go with a cheaper power company spend less on clothes or mods to your bike anything you can do to save a buck but running a car tyre on a bike is just plain dumb
dale wood Been done since the 60s on Harleys all day long. It’s not at all dangerous. But you’re entitled to an opinion and thanks for it and again thanks for watching. Oh yes I forgot I rode constantly for two weeks across the United States on it never had one problem handled great.
I can afford to run bike tyres however they're nowhere near as good on my bike.
Cool video , I have found a 2004 burgmen 650 for sale w/ less than 1000 miles . In your opinion will I find dry rot on hoses drive belt , going to check it out this weekend ?
Tom Meyer a lot depends on where and how it was stored. The rubber on those bike are high quality and I think you will probably be ok if it was well maintained 👍
over 30,000 on my '04. Always stored outside in a fairly dry climate under a cloth cover. No problems yet.
Grown men driving scooters makes me laugh lol.
You mean men that aren’t over compensating for something 🤣👍🏻
you will have a hard time to lean the bike now.
ROB NAVAEI I rode from California to Chicago and back without any problems. It’s great in the turns😎
There appears to be a big difference twixt a 'Car' tire and bike tire..............to wit , a car tire is basically made to run Flat , i.e. very little leaning side to side ! VS , a bike tire is designed with much more curvature because scooters are designed to 'lean' into the curves .......not run flat ! Personally I would not put a car tire on a bike because of the above considerations .
joe doakes I really can’t tell the difference in handling. And the contact patch is about the same when turning and more when riding straight. Thanks for watching 😎👍
joe doakes You are correct dude. Also, car tire beads can't seat properly on a bike rim. Plus, whats going to happen when you need to really lean your bike hard - like in a emergency situation?
@@joonya4427 car tyres stay on bike rims quite fine and are up to the task of very fast riding, hard braking, demanding corners, wet weather, and in an emergency situation I personally trust darkside over the motorcycle tyre.
What's your darkside experience?
@@rossdelaney2745 If their so great, why doesn't ant tyre manufacturer make a car style tyre with the correct bead for a MC? Do you really think if they were that good, manufacturers would be missing out on that source of revenue?
@@joonya4427 they are that great. And who knows really the motives of the manufacturing companies. More than likely the bottom line and to avoid litigation.
What's my motivation? To tell it as I find it and to dispel the rumours and ignorant naysayers.
I suspect your motivation is simply that you think you're correct. Without experience you only supply ignorant speculation.
So, what is your real motivation?
Here in Japan you would be ordered to remove the tire by the first police officer to notice it.
As the UK guy said, there would be no insurance cover either.
Hell, bike insurance here does not even include the bike, if you can believe it.
My bike insurance covers injuries to rider, 3rd party, and 3rd party's vehicle damage.
Bike insurance here does not include theft, either, ever!
That 's a separate policy, and pricey, too.
Being a 2-wheeler and within the law here, oh and well maintained, is NOT a cheap option.
That's kinda how it is in the UK,basic insurance is for 3rd parties,2nd class also covers fire and theft, top class covers most everything, something taken for granted in uk is there is no charge to go to hospital to get fixed up
