Thank you for watching today's Dragonlance Setting video. What do you think about the knighthood? Would they have done better without the Summer of Chaos? Leave a comment below.
Im so happy i found this channel i read the original trilogy and fell off the wagon with war of the twins i always wondered what happened in the 5th age lol
The biggest problem with the Knights of Neraka was that they were so cool, that they stopped really coming up with other prominent bad guy factions in subsequent material. Even the Dragon Overlords relied on the dark knights as soldiers. The whole setting became about Nerakan knights and Solamnic Knights. Late in the SAGA rulesystem and the 3e modules some new threats arose (Ogre Titans, Witchlani, Malfesean Horde) but they never got really established before the 3e line was cancelled.
It's so fitting how the Knights of the Dragon Queen was created. Redemption. Redemption is a key indicator of the will of Paladine. Once old boy was released from prison he went to form the Dark Knights. The Knights has hoped he was redeemed. The Dark Knights were better than the Solamnia Knights because they were open to Magic, and they allowed quicker promotions through competition (speculation), and they relied less on etiquette, protocol, and traditions. Basically, they were the Enron of that era. 😅 However, as we know, evil turns upon itself so the Dark Knights are really built upon a lie, and totally unsustainable, just like Enron. 😮 The Dark Queen would eventually consume them once they are the last people on Earth, but Paladine would do the opposite, and rather starve than hurt others.
@@DLSaga Agreed. Just like with all evil, it starts out with a bang and then the rats start to jump from the ship. I'm supprised the Minatours did not have more of a roll seeing how they are all about war and glory and battle and their patron is Sargonnas who was summoned from the Beyond by Takhisis to be her consort. I guess things are really rocky.
The knights of Neraka were such a great idea and great villains, always wondered what might have happened had these guys ever teamed up though with Golgren and the Minotaurs' Empire against Solamnia in the Age of Mortals. Though I think it'd be interesting to see them form an alliance of evil against Solamnia, who forges closer ties with Ergoth and Qualinesti (which should have as its new leader Gilthanas, as Gilthas and Porthios have abandoned the Qualinesti and their lands). Don't know what you think of this idea, I just figure it might be interesting to have 3 super-powers vs another. With Sargonnas now as the big bad.
I liked the Knights of the Thorn. They balanced the martial aspects well. I also liked the inclusion of different magic/orders not all bound to the Conclave. I did enjoy them more as an order with honour, rather than what they became over time.
By far the best evolution of bad guys for Dragonlance; this idea was wasted in the end. Such a pity. The Knights of good should develop a powerful paladin/cleric order while the dark knights develop a powerful magic user order that is secretly supported by the black moon but described as primordial chaos magic.
They’re semi willing to ally with white robes and red robes which would make them better off because they allow the autonomy of the Towers of High Sorcery. That was what felt evil about the KoT. They were a corrupt bunch

I’ve got it all here. Welcome!
Great video the knights were an awesome addition to Dragonlance
I agree. Even those who don’t like fifth age, thought the Dark Knights were great.
Love this!! I grew up on Dragonlance so finding this channel is awesome!
I hope you have fun looking around. I have a ton of content and more added weekly.
Aaaannnd today marks the day I "rang the bell". This may be my favorite lore channel on UA-cam.
Thank you for watching!

Very true. I need to look into the other threats you mentioned. I’m only familiar with the Titans.

Redemption.

They were a great knighthood in the beginning.

I believe there are factional alliances with the split Knights of Neraka groups that align with the Minotaurs.

I feel the same way. Thanks for watching!
I had a urge to hear about my Favorite Dark Knights and Lo and Behold ND recent Video!. ........yes the Pedulum must swing Back and Forth!
Thank you for tuning in!
The Knights of Takhisis were my favorite thing about Dragons of Summer Flame.
Yea, they were a great addition
They were a convincingly dominating force, but they misused Kang’s Regiment and the Minotaur races just like everyone else
Sad but true. They ended up being just like the Dragonarmies.

I agree with the suggestion of the Solamnic knights. They do have orders which use priestly spells, just not magic. They could use it.

Why the hell is this dude narrating when he can't pronounce names correctly?! Uugghhhhhhh
Lol you are always welcome to create your own videos… thanks for watching nonetheless.
