    8:35 I think those are the balls from construction keying, but I thought it was only supposed to be one ball per chamber 🤷‍♂Those anti drill pins around 11:55 were cool, do those even come on new models any more? I know they did away with the shroud except for the higher end ones (560 or 660, I forget). Haven’t seen anti drill pins in a while though. Definitely always have to check the top chambers for masters or worn out springs or gunk! Great job Mike, loved the green arrows 😊

      Thanks for your vote of confidence that was quite a doozy of a video. It’s amazing that that inexpensive deadbolt came with those hardened anti-drilling members. I’ve got to say I’ve never seen those on a cheap or let’s say inexpensive deadbolt on a good note I have started using CapCut For editing and have been discovering many new features over the past two months, which makes my editing time longer, but the videos are much better, especially the freeze frame. I like that now and have received from UA-cam themselves 3000 new songs with no copyright infringement and I’m trying to take full advantage of that. Thanks again. Have a wonderful night. I have another video in post right now it’s called… Are you ready? It’s called Smart tips on lishi Lock picks.

    I wonder if the key they had stuck is the one the construction balls were supposed to keep out once they’re were activated? Possible they we’re trying to stop someone else from getting in using those check balls while still allowing others on different levels access (via master pins). Cool video. You showed several reasons why we should check the top pins (for master pins and construction balls etc). I picked up an ultrasonic cleaner recently (I’m rebuilding my carburetor), think I may try using it for “cleaning up” some old knobs and deadbolts for my discount bin to offer customers. Finally done getting my Stepvan back on the road just waiting to pass inspection😅😆. Thanks for sharing!

      @@odinslockllc hooray you’ve resurfaced. I was hoping that you would get that step van done someday great Locksmith being held back by other projects you have been sorely missed thanks for your insight on that cylinder. Having an ultrasonic device is a great idea. I never thought about it that would even look cool in a video. Please send me a link to the one you like good hearing from you, my friend. Glad you’re back on the road so to speak hooray for you.🔧👍

      @@doorandlocktips I texted it to you. Not sure what solution I’ll use for plated brass or steel hardware but for carburetors I’ll use water/ pinesol mix.

    the master keying for construction keys. When the customer key is used they fall into one of them holes to demaster the lock

    • @doorandlocktips
      @doorandlocktips  Місяць тому +1

      @@mikefinley4713 yeah I get that but the strange thing is you can have Schlage write up a master key truck for these construction master key course, and even after the construction pins drop in those holes, you still have a master key system you got to see that with all those master pins stuck in the Bible and in the plug great ideas those Schlage significant men have

    I really enjoyed the video, you’re convincing me to find a spot in the van to keep some paint thinner and a strainer. Interesting that one of those keys was factory code cut to the correct code you identified, did you have to cut both keys to spec ?

    • @doorandlocktips
      @doorandlocktips  Місяць тому +2

      Yeah the original key that they were having so much trouble with and the other one we’re all duplicate keys when I code cut the new keys it probably would’ve fixed everything before the cleaning, but they wanted me to forensically dismantle and shoot a video on it so that the big wigs could see the problem

      @@doorandlocktipsI guess the only thing that confuses me is that the key he had the pliers on is a factory Schlage key and you can see the bidding at 36:44 matches what you wrote down. So unless the factory key was also off which I’m sure is possible that’s very mysterious that the cut was closer to a 1 from the factory but worked up until this point. I know I’m over thinking this but find it interesting.

      @@LCLockout you’re right this is quite a quandary. It had worked for some time before it jammed. Here’s the fax, let’s try to decipher. that tip cut was half closest to the tip on the top of that cut a number 2 and then it jumped up to 1 on that same fifth tip cut so it was half right and half wrong and the fifth chamber had master wafers or pins whichever you prefer and that wafer was a number 2 master pin and quite worn and bent, so it appears that it was working only because it shoved that number 2 master pin up in the driver area when the key was in and it appears that that tip was starting to wear. This wearing must have allowed the number 2 wafer to jam now being lower because of the Wear, there was quite a bit of dirt and maybe because of the dirt and the wearing of the tip being half two and half one that number two wafer jammed up. it’s odd to me Schlage could even put bitting numbers on that key. They must have a great system down there so these had to be ordered factory keyed up for this apartment complex. also, we’re both forgetting something. A number one is a Maxs violation. which is probably why that key wouldn’t come out. I guess the conclusion is dirt and a miss cut halfway on that last number five tip cut cause the failure which if you think about it, that is how that cylinder and pins should’ve reacted the very first time that key went in.

      @@doorandlocktips wow thanks for the clear breakdown! That really makes a lot of sense and explains it perfectly. Playing the detective game of figuring out how things break is half the fun of fixing them for me.

    those pins in the front are harded no drill pins they aren't meant to come out

      Yeah, I agree should’ve left them in well one was stuck so it never came out but it was fun to pull it out and show people. This is just a lock that will never go back in service again. Nice to see how they build them. Thanks for your comment.😢🎉😂❤
