- DXO labs have just released a new version of DXO Pure Raw. In this video we take a look at the new version, which now features 2 new workflows, including a Lightroom Classic Plug-in, and they have also added support for Fuji X-Trans cameras, so you can now process your Fuji Raw files with DXO Pure Raw.

Don’t rush into paying for the software as I learnt the hard way. In my case I bought it mainly for the de-noising as it looked impressive. After sending about a 1000 shots to be taking care off from lightroom the images came back nearly a full stop darker then when edited. I tried to send the images un edited to PR2 directly and same result. I tried to open it directly on PR2 and same result. I have been in contact with them ever since and there is no solution till today.
Hello Thomas,Trying again, I work in Lightroom Classic, One of the key things for me that was appealing was that based on an online Video, I could take a RAW file ( In this case CR2 & Raw Fujifilm X-Trans) that had been completely edited in Lightroom Classic and import to DXO Pure Raw 2, Process it through DeepPrime and then it would appear back in LR as a DNG with all the previous edits intact, In my case my Black & White Images.
Based on a recommendation I have switched on my Automatically Write Changes into XMP and restarted the system.
However, The export worked on one set of Images / RAF but it won’t work on others and recently it won't work on any. Neither CR2 nor RAF Raw Files, For example I have a completed RAW Black & White processed Image, I sent it to DXO, The DNG returned and reimported into LR Classic looks like a deep primed image crisp with settings adjusted but the Black & White presets are no where to be seen.
Any Ideas why this may be happening and why the Black & White preset is not being retained. Many Thanks Lyall
I suggest contacting DXO support and ask for their assistance. This is supposed to work, and I don't know why it's not for you.
Where is the updated compatibility list for PureRaw2? The list that's still on the website appears to be associated with the original version.
Hi Thomas, great video as always. Have you seen an issue where the DNG's that are created are quite. bait darker than the originals? On my Fuji files they always come out a stop or so darker than the originals. Is there something I could be doing wrong? Thanks!
Hi David. I haven’t noticed this. They usually come in perfectly. I wonder is it an issue with DR modes? Are the images in question using Dr200 or Dr400 ?
@@thomasfitzgerald Hi Thomas, oh that's a good point. I think my camera may have been set to DR400 out at least on DR auto so that can go anywhere from 200 to 400 I believe. I'll test more and let you know 👍
@@DavidMcClellandPhotography I've been experimenting with this as well. I am getting back DNGs that around 2 stops darker. Wondering if the extra dynamic range benefits are worth it compared to the workflow nuisance of increasing exposure in post*. Also, I am definitely getting better files out of PR2 compared to Lightroom so foregoing PR2 isn't in my plans right now.
*Haven't seen any increased noise after increasing exposure in post for the DNGs vs normal RAWs.
thanks for this video. It's way too slow for Fuji files. 🙁 Are the features of Pure Raw 2 also integrated in Photo Lab 5?
You mention that sometimes you find the processed images "too sharp" and that you add noise back in. How are you adding the noise back in? Thanks.
It's more that they're too clean - I add a tiny amount of grain in Lightroom - it just adds a little texture back to it - don't need much - a value of around 5 is usually enough
@@thomasfitzgerald Thanks for the clarification!
Compared to Capture One, I’m finding images soft and lacking fine detail
Just have tested it. DxO does a better job than Lightroom Enhance with x-trans files. Wish it has Super-res.
hello!.. Do you know if it works with DNG files from my leica SL2?... I ask because the previous version did not accept them... Thanks for your video and any comments about it!!
It should - it's listed as one of the new cameras supported. See here to check: www.dxo.com/supported-cameras/
@@thomasfitzgerald Thanks a lot!!..
You have a 30 day trial, just test it
I am just playing with trial. Even if I turn off sharpening the files feel really oversharpened.
Is Deep Prime in Photolab now being updated?
Not sure what you mean. Pure Raw uses the same engine including Deep Prime as Photo Lab 5 as far as I'm aware
Any word for when PureRaw 2 will support Panasonic GH6?
mine does not keep settings as you said it would, is this just on fuji files?
Make sure you have the option turned on in Lightroom to automatically write XMP data to disk. This should solve the problem.
@@thomasfitzgerald Hello Thomas, I have tried this option it seems to work on one set of Images and won't work on another set. Both are X-Trans files and have been edited the same way. Any thoughts why it would do this. Does it take a lot of time for the XMP to populate in the whole catalogue .
Hi Thomas, Just wanted to let you know that I am still having the same problems with the X-Trans File, After the DXO DeepPrime the DNG that is reimported into LR does not hold the original edit / Post processing. In this case all the B&W Conversions are returned to colour.
Hi Thomas, As a capture one & Fuji X user, how does the Raw Conversion Stack up with Dxo?
I'm working on a full review to answer that very question!
Hi @@thomasfitzgerald, any news about the review on how does the Raw conversion stack up with Dxo?
@@LordH4m Sorry - I posted it on my blog ages ago (forgot to link here! ): blog.thomasfitzgeraldphotography.com/blog/2022/3/more-notes-on-dxo-pure-raw-2-fuji-processing-general-tips
Have you found anything improvement on noise reduction performance from Version 1 ?
Other things don’t bother me to be honest?
Don't think there's any improvements in terms of quality - but it is supposed to be faster. I didn't really test the speed difference.
In my experience, Pureraw2 it's not significant faster at all, just stick to version one and save yourself some money.
