Knockback does a very important thing that I enjoy: It lets you pick your battles.
If you don't want to fight that creeper today? Smack it and it's about 10 blocks away again and you have more time to run.
You could just run away regardless

i dont like knockback but it gets too much hate
I always put smite on my sword and sharpness on my axe because endermen take more damage from sharpness and I always put fire aspect on my sword and if I put sharpness and fire aspect on my sword the enderman will be teleporting everywhere
creepers are more dangerous and common than enderman so sharpness is better on sword
@@Fazed_ a critical hit with sharpness on the axe kills a creeper and if i go to the end there is only endermen
@@Fazed_, yes but creepers are 2 hit kills if one is a crit and the other one is a normal attack, making it very easy with smite anyways.
I hate when the endermen teleports when u set them on fire. If they die you wont know if they dropped enderpearls or not
What?????? Ok
Also, sorry for double commenting but this needs to be said: You love knockback, fire aspect, and sweeping edge, the 3 most controversial enchantments. But you don't like looting? Everything else in this video is based on a PvPers standpoint, but your only argument against looting is that your inventory will become cluttered. At the point in survival that you have a maxed-out netherite sword, you would most likely have auto farms and not kill hundreds of mobs every night for xp lol. Looting is one of the best enchantments for pretty much everything, and its not like its gonna make your opponents drop more stuff that will fill up your inventory in pvp. Sorry, other than that the video was pretty much fine lol
E-Pearls from enderman xp farms. Also in general not the most useful late game too. Knockback and fire aspect do suck though, fire aspect doesnt in pvp but knockback is all around trash. Sweeping edge is fine
yeah, I mean, it's an absolute must have, even if you have inventory problems with trash items you can always throw them and they will eventually despawn and even if you don't want to wait just use your flint and steel, and for the extreme majority of mobs their drops are super useful and getting more drops from them is always good, I mean, it's absolutely one of the best sword exclusif enchantement in mc.
but I highly don't think so for sweeping edge, it's extremely good and at many points a life saver for me (I strictly remember that I was surrounded by 4 wither skeletons in my hardcore which left me on 1.5 hearts but I survived because of sweeping edge), and it's a must have in all kinds of looting 3 based( especially the raid farm where it's necessary, and the xp farms to free the mob cap as fast as possible) mob farms and in all common situations it help.
and in cases where you want to kill a single mob out of many mobs, it's your mistake to use sword in the first place, the sweep effect is always applied to sword and sweeping edge just increases the damage, axe, trident and bow exist and are single target weapons, use them instead for that.
the argument against looting was pretty dumb I'll say that
Bro I agree completely
While looting enchantment can cause inventory clutter, I'd say that looting is still very useful in survival mode because some of the "trash loots" obtained from mob farms for example can be tradeable for emeralds to villagers. Take rotten flesh for example, one will surely get a lot of them using looting weapons against zombies, however the rotten flesh looted can be traded to cleric villagers for easy emeralds. That's just from my experience though, just to add my few cents about what the commenter said. :D
"please use a grindstone. Don't waste swords"
Me: *laughs in 1 emerald for a diamond sword*
Impposible..
Yeah. I’ve recently levelled an armoured up to being able to trade two emeralds for diamond boots with feather 4 and unbreaking 3. Really happy how he turned out. He also has other armour with enchants but they’re not too strong however.
@@amirulsyazwan22 villagers can be zombified for cheap trades
@@GolfClash2718
Rather, if the villager or the village has a high enough reputation with you, they will always discount everything you buy from them.
@@gamerdomain6618 Yes but this has a limit, using zombie villagers you can get any trade to a cost of 1 emerald per item.
I would reccommand to ALWAYS use looting 3 on ur sword it's a very good enchant the getting ur inventory blocked thing isn't too nesscary to consider since it isn't too much.
Shulker boxes help this well when we have aquired them
Yeah, no drops are useless, especially if you are dealing with villagers.
Spider eyes for potions, rotten flesh for villagers or dogs, strings are not useless, more gunpowder for fireworks, TNT, fire charges, etc. No drops are useless as the guy said.
Damn, I loved all the explanation about the enchantments. I was wandering if smite only worked against Zombies.
It also works on skeletons,o wither skeletons, zombified piglin, zombified hoglins , and I’m pretty sure the wither

Knockback is good with fire aspect it knocks the player back while doing damage to them giving you time to charge up and heal
However against skilled endgame players this isn’t a factor a smart player will use a texture pack or client to edit fire and drinkable fire res pots last for 8 minutes
Coming from a pvper, no just no, Your sword is quick enough that if you jump and hit, youll be charged up again if you instantly jump again ,If you add strafes you can do a lot of damage without being hit.Kb is only good for Crystal Pvp
Fire aspect is overrated.
@@Mabra51 its still good to have
@@bad-gi9dq Depends on the situation i guess, but the added damage doesn't make up for the downsides.
If you don't want to use knockback, you can use speed 2 which will also give you advantage for combo in netherite fights
Do you think if the sword was being used in a single-player world (no pvp), smite would be the better option?
Ye
Have a smite sword and a sharpness sword if you can so you can switch them depending on the situation
I use a sharpness sword because I hate not one shotting creepers
And it helps a lot with raids and in the end
sharpness
Smite for a main sword, and sharpness if your planning to fight a lot of non-undead mobs.
3:08 for those who brew potions, then it's most likely we look for spider eyes, because of invis, or instant damage
I’ve recently started carrying two swords, one maxed without kb and one with kb and any other enchantments that come with it. My play style is crit chaining my opponents and kb against running opponents pisses me off, but if I need space, I’ll switch to kb and give it one or two sprint hits. I also always value looting more than most enchants because it’s easier/less annoying to clear my inventory or crap than grinding for the mob drop I want without it.
If i need to run i just pearl...
I’m putting smite on my sword because I don’t fight people
Yeah, I use sharpness for pvp (which I do rarely) and smite for solo survival. I never use bane of arthropods
I have two separate netherite swords one is smite V and one is sharpness V
Oh yeah that’s smart
smite on sword, if you pvp after the combat update then put the sharpness on the axe
if you need the fire aspect then switch weapons every hit
Does Sharpness have any impact on mobs?
I find knockback 2 especially useful for grinding mobs like creepers or wither skeletons where you _really_ don't want to get hit. Especially in the case of the creeper where you loose the loot after it explodes. Also 1.9 combat means that you can't spam, so knockback gives that quick breather so you can hit again when it's closer.
kb in pvp is bad
@@messu823 did I say anything about pvp? I primarily play Minecraft single player survival or creative.
Something to note is that if you use a grindstone to remove all the enchantments from an item it resets the anvil edits back to zero, so you can buy cheap enchanted diamond gear from cured zombified villager Armorers, Toolsmiths, and Weaponsmiths; and if the enchantments from the villagers or enchantment table end up being crap or you mess up the anvil use order to make something too expensive to upgrade you can always just start over without wasting your items.
I always max out all enchantments on my gear and I always do Sharpness 5 not Smite. I'm a completionist so I have to have the best gear in the game.
Put sharpness on your axe and smite on sword.
@@sh1tty167 I think two swords is better because swords are easier to swing and stun lock ender men so they can’t hit you back. The cool down on axes makes that harder.
why not be rich and get do both 😂
Great video. You are underrated. I can tell that you will be successful in the future. Keep up the good work! :D
Eyyyy new video, yay!
With looting 3 my chests get slowly filled with mob stuff until I trade it with villagers, and whenever I use fire aspect the mobs catch me on fire, knock back is great again creepers and is good for grinding music discs but bad against skeletons
Nice video! As always
I still use Smite V on swords even on multi-player because I usually move far from spawn where it's isolated. I do however get sharpness on an axe because a lot of damage plus more damage is insane already
I usually do this method in my smp it saves a lot of exp
You are a great UA-camr and your advice is very helpful! You earned a sub!
This is so useful thanks
Thanks dude!
honestly the strat is to enchant an iron sword with knockback and use it as a 3rd weapon so if u get low just knock back the remaining enemies and run/heal/block urself in
Oh... OK...
i use bow
knockback isn't just about ruining the pacing of a fight because it sends both opponents further away and have to run back to continue, it's also about chase-downs in pvp. when an opponent starts to dip below 30-50% health, they will typically start to run away, either momentarily to use something to heal, or lengthily in an effort to escape the battle. both of these are punishable if you have good speed, and no knockback, as knockback can make escaping easier for the opponent. conversely, knockback can also help by really screwing up the opponent's movement, as they can fly into walls, obstacles, off of drops for fall damage, or even into placed traps. if the pvp is in an pre-built flat arena, or relatively flat area, then knockback sucks, but if it's in a jagged area, then it's good.
rlly liked this video, very good
I just watched this cause it was in my recommended, and I thought I was watching some big minecraft youtuber with at least a million subscribers.
You're underrated, keep up the good work man! Definitetly earned a sub!
One reminder is that if you find mending book in a chest of something in early on into a survival world, do not put it on your tools. If you do not have a mob farm and uses mining and combat as a way to get experience to enchant, then with mending, getting to level 30 is almost twice as hard! I learned that the hard way.
Careful when putting fire aspect on looting weapons, as oftentimes the fire kills the mob and looting is not applied
Looting+fire aspect is great for animal farms if you can one shot the animals
Knockback + fire aspect is also great as you can know enemies back and they are set on fire, doing extra damage while they might be out of range of melee for a moment where you can decide your next move
just so you know if they die to the fire you still get the looting
I use both on my sword it's very useful
Fire aspect is also incredible annoying with endermen
Good Video you just earned a new subscriber :)
Your so underrated
I don't why
because you deserve more than what your currently having
But I believe you will grow
What if you just add knuckback one to a sword it dosent sent your oppent to far and you are still in range
@Benjamin Roth yeah but if your oppent almost die your knockback two sword would send that player flying back beside and beside knockback one sword is still good for mobs
i put sharpness and absolutely avoid knockback
If you play by urself or with friends that wont attack you go for smite

but some enchants are only available on Java, not Bedrock :(
I did some testing on bedrock. Having fire aspect seems to completely cancel out looting III. I've only tested on mobs that can catch fire though.
That's because bedrock has issues

Yea, I knew about this method and I use all these enchantments on my sword in my survival world except fire aspect, because I don't want creepers to explode once I hit them.
I just get two netherite swords with and without knockback and switch off one of them when there is a moment in the fight so its kinda like a knockback stick. I pretty much do this with every single tool that has two non compatible enchantments that can be good such as silk touch and fortune on my pickaxe
Ro11en, could you make videos like this for bedrock players?
Also, could you make videos like this for all tools in the future (if you haven’t done so already), that would be helpful :)
Crossbow multishot with insta damage 2 arrows is an insta kill, swords and other weapons are useless when everyone has prot 4 very simple

I won’t lie, I use them all. Idk if it’s the old school mentality of “it feels right” but I use bane of Arthropoda in my cave spider spawned, and smite or sharpness in the skelly spawners along w the usual looting mending unbreaking 🤝
Honestly, respect that. I wish people would take the time to appreciate all the less used features. Call me “old school” but I think that “efficient” isn’t always better.
I usually use smite in my hardcore world, i dont understand the point of having sharpness if you arent killing any players, except for the dragon and creepers. Most mobs you fight everyday is undead mobs meaning they are affected by smite
great vid!
finially a new video i thought u forgot the channel pass
To be fair, if you are making a purely utilitarian sword, you could combine Bane of Arthropods with Looting to get more string easily while hunting spiders.

For survival what i do is sharpness on my sword and smite on my axe that way for withers i can kill them faster and also if im building something in the nether and there's a pigman in my way, i can one hit it and it doesn't trigger the others.
I never knew knockback was hated. I always felt like it was pretty much one of the best
You need kb for cpvp
Yes! yes yes, idk why but when I crystal someone it looks like im using crystal aura
I feel like knockback would be good for the axe because you can get time to recharge your axe for a full hit
Smite on a sword is very handy because it helps you one shot every day mobs you face
Useful info 🙏😌
Its nice to have knockback 1 rather having knockback 2
I suggest having 2 swords in your inventory one with knockback and 2 without knockback, also u can use a stick for the knockback enchantment. It is helpful cause it does not lose durability
Pin this
hmm. interesting, will try it. on another sword,(im use to people taking kb so i will try this) thx for the tips
Thx :3
I think it’s important to have sword with sharpness and an axe with smite, or the other way around (but if you really wanna grind it would be beneficial on java edition to have 2 of both)
I just have an armory shulker box in an e-chest that have about every max combination you can make. Came very useful when I'm going for fire prot in the nether, smite for undead hunting. Bane of arthropods... Still haven't done any kills with it
2:58 don't forget zombies will be more likely to drop potatoes, carrots and iron ingots with Looting III
bane of arthropods is good when exploring mineshafts, it also gives slowness. I personally like using it for manual cave spider/spider/creeper farms. combine it with knockback and fire aspect and it becomes the ultimate creeper killer
Bane arthropods only deal more damage to spider
creepers aren't affected by boa wdym

I came here hoping to learn something new but ended up with information thst I learned from philzas hardcore series
Finally someone else who uses knockback, I was starting to think I was the only one.
now i see why its good to have a villager trading hall
I was delighted to see that this video wasn’t just an 8 minute video praising Smite over all other enchantments and preaching that sharpness was “hot garbage”. Great video!
This guide is very multiplayer oriented, probably should include that in the title or description
-ENCHAMTMENTS-
SWORDS
Sharpness- increases the amount of attack damage dealt to a player or mob.
Unbreaking- a chance for an item to avoid durability reduction when it is used, effectively increasing the item's durability.
Mending- The Mending enchantment uses xp (experience) to mend your equipped tools, weapons and armor.
Looting- The Looting enchantment increases the amount of loot that is dropped when a mob is killed.
Sweeping edge- Sweeping Edge increases the damage dealt to mobs by each hit from a sweep attack to 50%/67%/75% of the sword's attack damage for levels I/II/III.
Fire aspect- The Fire Aspect enchantment sets your target on fire when you attack.
Knockback-The Knockback enchantment increases the knockback dealt when attacking a player or mob.
In my hardcore single player world I have most of the time 2 maxed out swords in my inventory, one with smite and the second one with sharpness. One time I was in the nether and accidentally hit a zombie piglin. I barely managed to get out there alive because of my smite V netherite sword, which literally one shots the zombie piglins. I also had multiple encounters with large zombie hords in caves. When you spawn proof large areas, the spawning amount in specific areas can get very high, so large amounts of zombies can wait there. Smite is definitely worth it in situations like that.
My suggestion for survival worlds would be to use smite on your sword for most undead mobs and sharpness on your axe , as I prefer to have both in my inventory
I recognize that music at the start! Its from that game where you dig i think it was called dig inc
What really neat is that people can actually have more than one sword and they can choose to use the correct one for certain scenarios
Why are ya so underrated
when i was small i watched mc and i hated knockback since u go farther from ur enemies
but now i like knockback
I actually quite like rotten flesh, as you can trade it away for emeralds with the cleric villager, and you can get it down to one flesh for one emerald if you cure it enough
knockback is good for pvp or other than that it also helps when your grouped up by mobs/players
knockback isnt really that good for smp pvp tho
3:16 BRUH LOOTING IS AMAZING (also i know like all the tips and i think its common knowledge
I have smite 5 because I got a good sword from an end city and before I realised, it was netherite and applying sharpness was "too expensive", so that's a nice story about smite.
Bro that is so fire 🔥 I am one shoting every mob and two shoting wich
7:32 thought that was a secret book case entrance! Haha!
Bane of arthropods is good for pvp because it will slow an enemy so you can put it on a wood sword hit a target then quickly swap to your main sword
Could you please do a video on all the ranged weapons (bow, crossbow, trident) and which one is better cause I mostly see bow and crossbow but I want to know if the trident is good too cause I like the trident but I don’t know if it is the best and also this video was helpful and fun for me and your other videos too thanks keep up the great work
imma try this
TBH I just enchanted 2:21 a D-sword and it had BOa4, unbreaking 3, looting 3 and have been using it to gain levels LuL comes in handy vs spiders!
Smite is situational. Sharpness is all around. The others are even more situational. I recommend using grinder weapons with the appropriate enchantments. So smite for gold and skull farms. Arthropods for cave spawner farms. Sharpness for generalized like guardians or endermen. Etc
i don't like using fire aspect because if the mob burning attacks me, i lose my mind, and also knockback because i don't want to knock back armor stands which i use in a lot of my farm to give sweeping edge effect
ok how come the best outubers are underrated the algorithm needs to change lol
Probably because they think knock back is good whilst most people think otherwise.
