    Reminds me of my youth, fishing the jetty's in So. Cal. We caught bonita, skipjack, bass and mackerel. You had to be agile to run those jettys at night. Must be 30 plus years ago. Thanks for the share.

      Have an important question gents....what's the brand of jetty boots yall using to not slip on the rocks????been out there plenty of times and need boots like those!!!!!

      @@rmmrmm5758 The ones Ruben and I are using are the Korkers Terror Ridge (they have interchangeable soles so you can swap them out very easily). Ruben was using the Carbide Spikes sole which are perfect for the rocks and algae, I was using the felt sole which is great on the rocks and thin layers of algae, if you are walking on the thick green algae definitely get the Carbide Spikes. They also have an overshoe that goes over whatever shoes you are wearing that has the spikes on them. I have all that stuff listed in my video description.

    I haven't gone to the tip in a long time but back in the day I would do several trips up and down because we forgot something. Didn't use a wagon or backpack back then it was pure body loading equipment! My favorite spot was on the right side at the furthest flat rock and it was usually under a little water. Love the slamming waves and weather! 🎣

And a bunch of sheepshead off of the bulkhead on the channel . Along with seeing a monster jack cruising the breakwater bulkhead. Have a great week. Rainer

    Hi, nice filming young man! I'm a retired US Air Force Combat Veteran, looking to relocate since I been back in country. I'm currently living in the state of GA, big Texas is on my list to relocate, this Jetti is smokin, I can definitely see myself fishing here occasionally from time to time! What city is this Jetti is located? I would like to visit and perhaps do a quick recon on the area.. thanks

    Do u use wire leader material ( 30# test is like 12# mono thickness ) ,,, just add a barrel swivel to mainline & roll a loopy on da spoon ,,, wire only needs to be bout 6” to 10” max for toothy Predators,,,🤙🏼🐟🇺🇸✨

    Awesome video man! New to saltwater fishing, bought a 6500 slammer paired with a Penn carnage III. Love how the combo feels. Coming from a freshwater background I had some trouble with my knots due to the larger diameter leader line. Ran 65lb braid with an 80lb fluoro leader. Any favorite main to leader knots you recommend as well as 80lb leader to lure knots?
    Went down for sandfest a couple weekends ago and fished that jetty with no luck. Used 2oz and 3 oz spoons and 6in Tsunami swim shads. Do you recommend letting the spoons hit the bottom and bouncing it or straight retrieve? I’m sure it varies depending on conditions but honestly any help is appreciated! Live in San Antonio and will definitely be coming down more often to learn more about saltwater fishing! Thanks for any and all help bro!

    • @southtexasfishingfam3436
      @southtexasfishingfam3436  2 роки тому +1

      Yes I use a Albright knot from my main line to leader line its fast and ez and hasn't failed me yet, il prob a how to video soon on that. I used 50 braid to 80 pound mono with Albright knot. Then at my lure I tied a uni knot with just 2 turns to lock since it was a thicker line

    • @southtexasfishingfam3436
      @southtexasfishingfam3436  2 роки тому +3

      As far as retrieve yes it's always different. to start off I like to let sink then do a moderate to fast retrieve it dont always have to be super fast retrieve but yes conditions do very. And yes I would Switch it up try different approaches or retrieves if it's slow.also be observant of what's working for others if they are catching 🤙

      For big Jacks/Big drum/Cobia etc I dont find it necessary to go over a 40lb braid and a 50lb leader using the Double Uni knot. Strong as you will ever need mate.
