I still watch the beginner tutorials just to watch and listen to Grant work. But even beginner ones you can learn a thing, like the Skin modifier to make the arms.

Only thing missing is the tiny sparkles where the sun would hit the little round chunks of snow. I was trying my own snowman just yesterday and I got it looking okay with the natural round body instead of a perfect sphere etc but I could not figure out a way to get details that had the tiny sparkles and my only thought was maybe if I used adaptive subdivision and some microdisplacement using a very tiny noise texture.... that might work. I never did that yet as I was hoping not to use the experimental Cycles but anyway... nice tut! I never tried using the cube-sphere yet. Odd that isn't an actual primitive you can select from the mesh menu.
I always learn something new from your videos. In this case: that it makes a difference whether you change an instance in Object mode or Edit mode. I can't believe I didn't know that already! Thanks for the tutorial!
Grant is the man! Grant I wanted to ask you if you could link a video about the best sites to sell 3d projects on (if you had already made a similar video...I might have missed It!)
HI GRANT! HOW DO YOU DO!! All caps to get your attention... 🙂. I would like to know if there is a control on Blender for objects that make the object align with the grid as opposed to moving the object manually. I have learned that the default cube can be aligned with the grid by pressing G, Z & 1 and that lines it up well. Am I making sense? If you have an answer for me respond at your leisure, please. Thanks again.
Thank you for your amazing tutorials! I have a question. you use a LOT of shortcut keys and sometimes you name them the same, like with the skin modifier you press ctr-a to scale and not S, I tried both and they are differed but is there a list or other way to figure out what ctr-a actually does and when to use it?(and others shortcuts as well)
I can't find the right place for the settings I changed. I'm about one month into Blender, and when I very first installed and opened it, it asked me about changing the 1, 2, 3 keys to camera views or not, and I did. So now when I press any numerical keys (not just on keypad, but also the numerals above keyboard) it changes view. The very beginning, Ctrl+2 to change the cube to a more sphere shape, I cannot do. Where do I go to change these keybind controls...? +edit: I can make it through all this, just wish I knew how to change those settings back. On to the next! >>> thanks!
Love this! When scaling the arm vertices, where do I find Control-A as a menu item? What is the name of this scale type? It seems like a transform pivot point set to individual origins?
how do I do the merge on blender 3.4 I tried M but it doesnt work it just says move to collection if tried searching for it but I couldn't find please reply this is for a assignment
By the time I got to the eyes this became very difficult. Not sure the laptop screen is a good viewing source? I can't scroll in etc with out overblowing objects. etc. Great tutorial though! Thankyou Is there an option to edit the eyes separately?
Hey Grant, I've been enjoying your videos but this is the first one I've run into an issue that I can't seem to solve! Hopefully you or another viewer of this video may have an answer. When creating the button eyes, everything worked fine and I used snapping and duplicated and it all worked fine. But then when I started duplicating to make the buttons for the mouth all of a sudden snapping turned my button around. I've looked online for ways to fix this and those solutions are very confusing and caused my eyes to flip the incorrect way, even though they had already been snapping and moving in the correct direction. Any help is appreciated, this stuff is all still pretty confusing to me.
Grant please help me out, i am wondering if its possible to collect different PBR matetials and bake them all in one single map. For example i have a character with a helmet and dress. Do i have to create New matetial for each of the objects or can i collect all the normal maps, roughness maps, Metallic maps etc. And bake them all in one single map ? Help me out guys

Yay! Soft camera pan-in/pan-out animation loop intro!
Yeah it's just a little more awkward to set up but maybe it's worth it
I love it so far, will work on the snowman some more tomorrow. ⛄
So much to learn from such a simple tutorial. Thank you once again.

For those who are stuck at skin modifier: apply scale with ctrl+a in object mode and then scale modifier like Grant did and the geometry will be right
Thanks - very helpful for my level of Blender and perfect delivery
Good video again grant
Your voice is awesome and you explanation is also awesome. Thanks 🙏🏼 waiting for the next video
Awesome tutorial
Homework already done! Thank you Sir Abbitt and looking forward to the next class! scarf and hat :-D
Thank you i need help with the arms and liked how it shows the controls you do on the bottom right

I have a question. Why do you use a cube and add subdivision surface modifier when you can add a sphere?
better topology

Yes indeed

Love your accent ;)
Love this! When scaling the arm vertices, where do I find Control-A as a menu item? What is the name of this scale type? It seems like a transform pivot point set to individual origins?
I think I figured it out myself! Control-A brings up skin resize window, when you're in edit mode on a mesh.
how do I do the merge on blender 3.4 I tried M but it doesnt work it just says move to collection if tried searching for it but I couldn't find please reply this is for a assignment
You must be in edit mode
Was going to do this, discovered my stylus is gone and have to order a replacement. Will any Wacom stylus work or does it have to be model specific?
Pretty much all stylus work

yes you have to use different channels. ITs not very straight forward
Why i cant do a button of eye
The scale is to hard to do eye button
Done
“E” to extrude doesn’t work for me with vertices? What could i do
Perhaps remove doubles
in face mode and the blooming nose wont scale on just the end the whole thing changes
You may still have proportional edit on
@@grabbitt Thank you yes you were right
How does nobody know about ctrl+2
I've seen so many tutorials with sub surface, but not one mentioned it
actually its ctrl and then any number.

Remove doubles
