    Mccarols drumming is badass! He gave Oasis a really raw, punk sound.

    • @deluxeasstandard1969
      @deluxeasstandard1969 4 роки тому +22

      You got that to! Mccarols powerhouse backbone I’ve seen it in kasabian’s drummer although they kept him - once mccarol left it was the end - he held the venom of the beat pure and simple 💯

    • @buddhull
      @buddhull 4 роки тому +16

      @@deluxeasstandard1969 I agree with you both. The simple, heavy handed drumming drove the material to a looser, more manic sound which helped enforce the edge they had from 91-95. It’s probably true he couldn’t do some of the WTSMG tracks, but they’re the non-preferable tracks to me, anyway.

      Noel is quite emotionless at times and pulled the plug.
      It’s harsh as fuck but they needed to do it to reach the next stage.

    • @TonkaToy67
      @TonkaToy67 Рік тому +1

      Yep, just a pity Tony was appallingly unable to maintain time over and over.
      If you listen carefully, to each of his performances,they are almost always different, not only in terms of time, but intensity of the beat.
      For a producer, a living ‘mare when trying to lay down tracks with inconsistent drumming. Hence why he had to be cut.
      I’m not saying he cannot play drums. He’s proven that enough in their early tracks, but one of the main somewhat underlying roles of the drummer is to maintain tine, over and again. When it varies, even by a half second, or hits the high hat instead of snare, it throws all the other musicians accompanying him.
      Stevie White smoked it, no question. Sticks in hands, he’s ready, and he was off! Great memories for sure. 😎🤩👌🏽

    Dam this is such a great song. Seemingly simple lyrics but so honest and real...love it! Tonys drumming is on point for the raw stuff; best lineup.

      Liam was very handsome back then, many of us women fancied him (I was 20 in 1994). I shall be watching Oasis play live again in Manchester, great as not far away from where I live.

    LYRICS
    Head like a rock spinning round and round
    I found it in a hole sitting upside down
    You point the finger at me but I don't believe
    Paint me a wish on a velvet sky
    You demand the answers but don't know why
    In my mind there is no time
    Yeah little things they make me so happy
    All I want to do is live by the sea
    Yeah little things they make me so happy
    But it's good yes it's good it's good to be free
    So what would you say if I said to you
    It's not in what you say it's in what you do
    You point the finger at me but I don't believe
    Bring it on home to where we found
    Head is like a rock sitting upside down
    In my mind there is no time
    Yeah little things they make me so happy
    All I want to do is live by the sea
    Yeah little things they make me so happy
    But it's good yes it's good it's good to be free
    Yeah it's good yes it's good it's good to be free

    For anyone who wasn't around, it's difficult to express just how iconic Oasis were around 95/96. Every lad wanted to be Liam Gallagher.

    Loved Tony on the drums. In my opinion they went a big downhill after Tony got sacked. My favorite albums are Definitely Maybe and the Masterplan, both with Tony on drums. Loved his sludge hammer form of drumming.

    I remember seeing this the first time around, loved The White Room.
    I was so excited by their sound compared to the junk played on the radio and became an instant Oasis fan… before I knew it I was at Knebworth… now I’m 54!
    Where the hell did that go?

    I get the same goosebumps as i did back then as a young man watching this in astonishment. The vocals are out of this world. Sadly it s also an accurate gauge of where Beady Eye are in relation to this and many other great Oasis tracks.
