LITERALLY WAS JUST LISTENING TO THIS ON REPEAT, What a banger, i especially love the walk down before the chorus, the riff in the chorus, that weird bit of feedback with the drums, the solo that comes after it (simple but good) and even the bassline has some cool fills in there as well. You are so right, sir! Just made a similar comment on facebook on the Mad fer Oasis - Fanpage. Those two highs, LEAVE and NOW that you're mine, are the apex of all that is good in the world. He has very rarely replicated them live to the best of my knowledge. I saw them at Roskilde in 1995 and I believe he did it then. Have not seen/heard another instance of it ever. Makes it even more special and magical. They were surely reaching for the near-impossible.
As a bookish, introverted young lad who was utterly hopeless with girls, this song meant the world to me when I was a young'un. "I don't mind being on my own". It felt like a battle cry, in a funny sort of way, to me at least. That sounds ridiculous, but honestly it was exactly how it made me feel, like I was 10 feet tall.
