Amy from watching the start it looks like it’s multiples of 2, as Anja says she’s chaining 40 for the one she’s making and chained 36 for the other red one. And the pattern calls for skipping 1stitch before making a dainty cluster.

Yes you can use acrylic, no problem. I think people use cotton mainly for absorbency properties! Anja x
