    The "sacred silence", of course, must be referring to death, and I always interpreted "sleep" literally, thus the "disorder" is our waking time until we die.

    They are Armenian from California. The history of the Armenian genocide by the Turkish and the things that have happened within their culture are expressed politically through their music.
    But it is universally interchangeable with any nation that has gone through or is going through the extremes of war, societal control and tyranny.

  • @88aghves
    @88aghves 2 роки тому +14

    Sacred silence for me is being numb to everything, which looks like the sleep. And disorder is somewhere between those two as Serj says 🤣.

  • @nicholasgraves3149

    You said you didn't know how to bob your head during the first chorus (which has no vocals), but when you got to the second chorus (with vocals) you were right on. This song is in a 12/8 meter, meaning there are 12 eighth notes per measure and they are grouped into four beats with three notes per beat. You can hear it really clearly in the intro in the guitar (123,123,123,123). That pulse stays constant throughout the entire song, but during the chorus there are moments of silence, and the pattern of accented notes changes to give the illusion that either the meter or tempo or both have changed, but they really haven't, because you notice that it's right back to the same pulse that was there during the verse. It's a really cool and effective compositional element of the song.

  • @JuusoAlasuutari
    @JuusoAlasuutari 2 роки тому +1

    I interpret sacred silence as death. Between death and sleep is your waking life, always more or less chaotic. This is a ballad to embrace and accept that life is disordered, unpredictable. "What, do you own the World?" sounds like a commentary about the futility of obsessing over control, followed by "What do you own? Disorder!"

    • @JuusoAlasuutari

These guys and Metallica have great messages in their songs and some people don't want to listen cause it's hard rock. I grew up on this and hip hop to challenge the man so to speak. A lot of the lyrics from SOAD are intentionally vague and Serge (singer) has, on numerous occasions, stated that as soon as the song is released, it’s out of their hands and you, the listener, owns is, recreate it, interpret and give it meaning. That being said, they’ve also been quite hard on interviewers that have gotten the meaning “wrong” or interpret the songs in a “lazy” way :)

    But it can also be questioning God. How can he own the world and all these things are still happening. But the whole eating seeds to me is more about the people in charge of the world act as if Every thing is good and care nothing about the people.

    Very angry performance and the visuals were a bit disturbing. Reminded me of the demented murderers in a horror film. I “get” the anger. I’ll have to seek out the lyrics to understand WHAT he’s angry about. Or is it madness he’s portraying? Is, “the sacred silence” death? Between the sacred silence and sleep…is life. And life is hard. I don’t recall the word he used after that phrase but it seemed key to the point of this song. Good luck analyzing that one.

    There is a space between being awake and being asleep where your connection to spirit is direct. Healthy beings can connect to spirit in this space. The toxicity of our environment and behavior prevents beings from connecting to spirit in this space. Sacred Silence is a Native American term for inner peace or meditation.

    I think that the sacred silence is the void and sleep is death..
    Everything else in between those two is a disorder.
    If you read philosophy you may understand it a little bit better

    SOAD is great. If you like them, you will LOVE the GREATEST band to have EVER walked the earth….. the band, TOOL. They will change your life for the better, by healing you from the inside out. So when your ready to go down the rabbit hole, spiral out, and open your third eye. The Tool army will be waiting for you and will watch with you in droves!! Just do lyric videos with them. Their videos will take your attention from the music. Start with “Aenima”, when you are ready.

    Hello :) New to the channel, but now I’m OBSESSED♥️ I love SOAD, Queen and Pink Floyd 😍 so it’s a sweet weekend for me to have found this channel🙏 I wonder if you could, as a one of, react to “Sound of Silence” (by Simon & Garfunkel) covered by Disturbed? It’s quite.. something .. very profound♥️🙏
