I love this episode. I also love the fact that every little side story can be made as a movie or even series on its own. Like the origins of Oma and Shu, Koh, the Facestealer, Jeong Jeong's backstory, the actual 100-year war prior to Katara and Sokka finding Aang, etc. FUCK!!!
The world building in A:TLA has got to be one of the best ever aired on TV. And not just for animation, but just in general.
my BFF and i sing these songs to each other and laugh our asses off
I have this idea that Sozin personally went to the southern air temple looking for the avatar. Sozin, with his army standing behind him, confronts Aang's master in the courtyard, "Where is he Gyatso?" "You will never find him. He *will* avenge Roku." Gyatso replies... Suddenly he levitates inside a ball of wind, sucking the air out of the soldiers' lungs... only to be shot down by Sozin's lightning (Think Crossroads of Destiny). It is there that Gyatso dies with the bodies of the Fire Nation soldiers strewn about.
+Bobby Magnus I would have LOVED to see all of the Air Nomads defending their temples from the Fire Nations. From the monks, all the way to the nuns.
I just realized doesn't the stuff in korra about the first benders sorta not agree with what we learn about the first earth benders
Wilner's wonderful world Well yeah it does kinda fuck with the stories of them learning it but you could also chamge it to be they learned how to control it or got the spirit of it through them i guess... idk.
SECRET TUNNELLL, SECRET TUNELL, THROUGH THE MOUNTAINSSSS, SECRET SECRET SECRET SECRET TUNNELL YEAH!
This comment is old but this song was legit amazing to me. It honestly still is.
@@DeltaDrifter2201 bro yes XDDD
I saw your comment again
A meme before memes existed
When my family first watched the show with me(took a lot of convincing) they were singing the song for weeks
I run around my house singing this song with my brother. Out family reallly loves us
I guess you missed the part where Oma and Shu learned earthbending from the badgermoles. That's also how they were able to close up those tunnels, Rana; they can earthbend the same way flying bison can airbend.
They didn’t, they were looking right at it
"fortune lady-teller"
Katara just straight up did the "😳what if we kissed😳" meme
Actually this meme might be a reference to her.
Confirmed they did kiss in the cave...
Sokka seemed to have noticed Katara blushing while looking at Aang too.
"Bumi didn't go down without a fight" um well.
My 3 thoughts when watching these:
1. So glad y’all are enjoying these and having fun with it. ✌️😁
2. Ffs, why tf is Rana so pretty?😍🤯
3. Because of y’all I now have massive beard envy. Seriously. Why do you have such nice beards?!😡😭

this episode is a skit fest and my favorite guilty pleasure episode
Toph also learned Earth bending from moles

Secret Tunnel is a good song but I prefer the Badger Mole song in Korra
My favorite episode.

"Filler" isn't the right word for this episode. It's a "lore" episode.
Loga Ruga Mon even though im two years late. t h i s
Agree, the only filler episodes were the Great divide, and to some extent the Fortune teller, this is a cool slower episode with a matching theme, it's not only about the destination, the journey matters too

I'm so confused. So if those couple were the first earthbenders what about the story of Wan in the Legend of Korra when he got his earthbending skill from the lion turtle?
@@GalvEnzo
It’s basically like this
The Lion Turtles gave the ability to use the elements
Dragons, Bisons, Moles, what ever the Water Benders have. They taught people how to bend the elements.
'I present to you: the Earth Kingdom city of O... shit...'
“fuck fuck what the fuck do we do aang where the fuck are you gonna learn earthbending you big bald son of a bitch”
Earth Kingdom City of Oh..... my God.

We Are Rip City Lol I love that song!
We Are Rip City Perfect to belt out in any Tunnel related conversation or situation 😂
We Are Rip City SECRET SECRET SECRET SECRET TUUNNNNEEEEEEEEL yeah
Oma and Shu learned earthbending from the Badger Moles.
The Badger Moles were the original earthbenders.. Much like the Moon was the original waterbender, and the Sky Bison were the original airbenders. :)
They said Oma and Shu are the first earthbender but in Legend of Korra that pretty much change.....
But Oma and Shu learned earthbending from the badger moles, so...
dinozero2 Without spoiling anything, i think that part of the Legend of Korra was more about how the first avatar came to be and how he managed to gather the four elements. There could have still been people who learned bending outside of the traveling groups, but I get what you mean.
Hasn't that be retcon in Legend of Korra, where the lion turtles gave bending to everyone.
Brandon Lyon My theory is that it is likely that the lion turtles got their bending from other significantly more powerful and important spirits like the Moon & Water spirits. Because by now we all know that spirits aren't all equal in power and that some spirits have a more fundamental role in the universe like the light and dark spirit Raava & Vaatu. And I believe that the Moon/Water spirits and the other elemental spirits are most likely the primordial and more powerful spirits along side the Light and Dark spirits and that these spirits later on distributed some of their powers to creatures like dragons, lion turtles and badger moles
SECRET TUNNEL. SECRET TUNNEL. SECRET SECRET SECRET SECRET TUNNNNEEEELLLLL. Tight tunes man.
Maryam hussain #bestsong
Katara said Oma and Shu learned earth bending from the badger moles, the same creatures that made the tunnels in the caves they were in.

I'm glad you guys are liking Appa more...
I love how the series gets more mature in Book 2. All main characters are starting to grow up and the war is going strong but it's also spring and there's love in the ''air''.
“Badger moles taught the couple how to *EARTHBEND*”
Badger moles are the og earthbenders
Rana: “wait how did they close that behind them?”
Idk... maybe because the earthbend?
The first earthbensers were badgermoles!
They deliberately left it ambiguous whether or not they kissed (despite what idiots to stupid to grasp the concept of ambiguity will tell you). The creators have never given any definitive statement on the matter, apart from in the Avatar Extras for this episode, where the only thing they say about that scene is "What happens in the Cave Of Two Lovers stays in the Cave Of Two Lovers".
they fucked
@@saturn9536 wtf
It's obvious they most likely kissed. The room lights up just as they lean in towards each other, implying that their love might have been the source of the light. Besides, she literally brings up the kissing idea in the beginning and blushes.
There was absolutely nothing ambiguous about that scene
Of course they kissed. If you rewatch attentively, you'll notice:
1- They closed their eyes just before it went completely dark, so they wouldn't immediately notice the light coming back.
2- There was a good moment between it going completely dark and the crystal beginning to glow; considering they had already closed their eyes before, they were probably a couple seconds into their kiss before the first crystals started glowing; but again, they had their eyes closed so it wouldn't interrupt them anyway.
3- As Katara got chatty in awe of the crystals, they were still vwry close and holding hands, their fingers intertwined, in a way that would be awkward unless their had just shared some degree of intimacy.
4- When Aang tried to say something (probably confess his love, as he's been trying since 'The Fortuneteller') and Katara just ran away, Aang smiled rather than being disappointed, which means he at least got the kiss.
5- After leaving the cave Aang is all smug about 'trusting in love', subtly showing his desire to boast about his long-desired kiss.
6- When the hippies sing the last song, Katara blushes as they talk about love in the dark, as she recalls what just happened.
7- From here onwards, every single romantic moment between them has the musical leitmotif play again, meaning this is where their romance first blossomed.
So obviously they kissed.
To finish all of this off, the creators have confirmed this moment was their first kiss.
This episode alone is comedy gold. But Wolfbat Man killed me
Quick question, does that guy on the far right looks like that King Aladdin streamer? (the guy who cat called a 15 year old)
Kataang 4EVR!
Mayhemm007 Aang is 12 old, what a pervert...
Юра Рыбочкин Katara is 14, so whats wrong with it? And technically Aang is 112
Idiot
Well, it's better than Zutara.
Lets not start about that crack ship...
Cant wait for them to see Aang's eartbending teacher.
'earthbenders all have dirty feet' haha, this will be great
"How di they close it behind them."
You were literally told that Oma and Shu learned their earth bending from the badger moles just minutes earlier.
Not being rude here, just stating something I saw. I like that you guys talk a lot during your reactions but you've missed a lot of important or funny things in this series because you talked over it. In this episode when Appa and the gang were flying through the air with fire balls being hurled at them, you guys were confused because you didn't hear the part before it when Aang said that they need to do whatever makes Appa feel comfortable. You missed the joke. If you don't understand something, you should either pause before you know you're about to talk a lot or just rewind if you think you missed something. It's your channel and you can do whatever you want with it but I just wanted to make a recommendation. Love you guys!!!
Nahid's right actually Rana, Azula couldn't put wanted posters up in areas of the Earth Kingdom which the Fire Nation hasn't occupied yet and the large majority of it is still independent.
"Bumi won't go down without a fight."
:)
.......NOTHING hahahahah
9:45 Easter egg: Aang actually earthbends much earlier in the series. Here you can see him dig a hole with lightning speed.
Saw this joke it just too funny not to post here.
Nice 👍🏻😂😂
That was the funniest Avatar reaction so far :) At one point I thought Rana is going to burst from laughing
There was no way I was waiting weeks to see these. Happy you guys are as impatient as I was when it first came out. You should binge like 6 episodes in 1 day this season has some of the best fights too.

Yeah we're waiting on episode 7 right now but last week was 5 and 6. It's worth it if you're as impatient as i am. I like supporting them they put a lot of work into everything they do, it's the least a fan can do.
Lord-Commander Savage lol i I wish they did 3 episodes! Lol 1 hour I wouldn't complain! If they gave me and hour of avatar a week I'm ok! :)
The Badger moles were the original Earth benders, Oma and Shu learned from them
Valhar Do Varys in the Story they did yeah. their mit really the first earthbenders
No the first are the earth lion turtles
The Programmer of video games the lion turtles were the one who gave the actual bending to the humans. The humans learned technique from the badger moles.
Everytime I see these I squeal like a child and then get super pissed that I'll be torturing myself with Avatar content for another week until I see your next ATLA vids; love y'all!

SECRET TUNNEEEEELLLL 😂 Why i'm keep coming back to this reactioooonnss, what did you do to meee guuuys 😫 (poor micky, he wasn't ready for that cliffanger 😅)
They said they learned it from watching the badger moles, who are natural Earth Benders, just like the Sky-bison's and the Air benders.
Appa/Flying Bison = Original Airbenders
Badgermoles = Original Earthbenders
Dragons = Original Firebenders
Water?? Moon? Unagi-like creatures?
Moon, I guess.
'Cause the Unagi didn't really bend water. And Yue even said that the Moon was the first waterbender :)
^ Yeah, you're right. Thanks :)
+Znade No problem, mate :)
ViolentScorl TBH I wish there were some sea creature that was the first water bender. It would fit the theme more.
You guys have the remember that the moon IS a sea creature. In the season 1 finale, Admiral Zhao makes it his mission to destroy the moon. He does it by killing the white Koi fish which represented the moon, black representing the ocean.
when the next ep
because its great
In the comic Toph's Metalbending Academy, these guys form a band that becomes hugely popular. However by the end they go back to where they are here because they missed their old life
I laughed this whole episode with Rana and Mickey😂
Just for everyone to know, the lion turtles gave them the elements to bend, they didn’t teach them how to bend there for they would have to find the master, for fire it’s the dragons, water is the moon, air is sky bison, and earth is bager moles, however without the lion turtle they wouldn’t be able to bend at all, so technically they are the masters of the elements, the dragon can’t give you the ability to bend fire, but they can teach you as well as all the other masters
“Even if you’re lost, you can find the love that’s in your heart”
I love this fucking show
the creators confirmed that they kissed in the cave
The song for the love story was the same song they played at the end.
This was a really funny episode
i like how they missed the part where it says oma and shu became the first earth benders *because* of the badger moles,
*THE first earthbenders*
I NEED NEW AVATAR VIDEOS!. Love the 4 of you. Great group of people
Suraj is just the cuteeeeeeeest
9:45 😂 If asked "Why do you love each Normie", that reaction right there is my answer for Rana 😂
You know, Aang is a natural Earthbender, He somehow managed to dig himself out the hole he made for himself with Katara
I LOVE this episode...one of my favorites!
At the Siege of the North part 2 it was the Spirit of the Ocean the one who used the Avatar to take it's spiritual form in the physical world, it was mad at the murder of the Spirit of the Moon and seeked revenge and so did the Avatar (the bridge between the spiritual and physical world), the moment it saw that the Moon was back the Spirit of the Ocean calmed down and seperated from Aang making it go back to it's spiritual form but still wanted to take Zhao with himself to the Other World as punishment.
So actually it wasn't Aang the one who turned into a giant Koi fish, that was the Spirit's true form that's why the waterbenders bowed down to it they didn't bow down to Aang.
And Yue is now the true form of the Spirit of the Moon.
hope i was helpful :)
Oma and Shu learned earthbending from the original benders : the BADGERMOLES. The animals you saw in this episode were earthbenders. They're like sky bisons, the original earthbenders.

You are born with the powers but Oma and Shu were the first to learn to control them. So thet kidna invented earthbending
First part of the episode: Yeah, this is definitely filler episode lol

Im indonesian but i watched it in indonesian language but realising the english version is much CUTERR
11:07 Badger Mole doesn't give a shit, it just earthbends what it wants!
I make videos about Avatar, if anyone is interested.
I died when aang said he didn’t want to kiss katara. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Good video again :-) i see the reviews for the first time. It is a different thing to have the power of earth and different thing to lern to bend it (control it) in the avatar universe.
The creators have stated that in the very early concepts or the show there was an idea that the show took place thousands of years in the future. The remnants of that idea are the hybrid animals. So good job to that guys who speculated that this was all in the future.
Remembering very clearly my own reaction back when I was watching the original release, I can totally relate to being simultaneously entertained and thoroughly angry I couldn't watch the next episode right away.
I am so happy that they reached this episode!!! this is one of my favorite off shoots. I love the singing nomads so much, I even have their song as my ring tone.
"Love is brightest in the dark" *chills*
I know you guys said you don't rea comments anymore because of spoilers, and I don't blame you, but I thought I'd mention something you guys kind of hit while talking after the episode.
No everyone is a bender in this world. There are people who can't bend fire, water, earth, or air. They're just regular people. As far as anyone is aware, as I can't remember if it's mentioned by the creators on the DVD commentary, the hippies Aang and company run into are not Earthbenders. They are Earth Nation people, but not benders.
Way late on this joke, and I’m 100% stealing, but this is the first instance you see Aang earthbend by digging that massive hole with Katara over kissing
Sokka is one of the best true legend
