AAVE is an accepted official dialect of English, which makes me so happy as a yellow 😅 My personal belief is that in every culture, the actual inner ideas (which are not words) that we are trying to communicate (with words), bursts through the cracks in the structure of formal language, like a geyser or steam vent - and thats where we get dialects and slang. Every generation continues to move the wave forward - like humanity is collectively trying to return to an original form of communication that conveys more meaning with less sound.
18 hours of flying non stop to JFK from Johannesburg! How did he get there. It's a 15 hour flight. I've used that route by air more times than I care to remember, and it has never taken that long. He's not being totally truthful though, there are mixed people in my family and we are called Black. Occasionally some of us get mistaken for Indian or mixed race, but most of the time we blend in with the majority. I love his humour though.
