That segment of Trevor talking about the difference between South African racism and American racism always reminds me of something a black friend told me that her father taught her.
He taught her that, you can always trust us Boers, and that's because if we're racist we're going to say it and make it very obvious, so you always know where you stand with us, much like how Apartheid was blatant and obvious, but, you can never trust an englishman, because they'll stab you in the back with a smile on their face while telling you how much they love you, which kind of falls in line with how American racism has worked for decades now.

Another significant difference is that in South Africa, a minority enforced and benefited from the racist laws. In contrast, in America, the racist laws benefited the majority, reflecting the population makeup of the country.

I think the biggest difference between the American and South African racism is that in South Africa the majority of the people was being subjected to the laws of a minority of the total population whereas in America the majority of people were affecting a minority population whatever their differences were. Apartheid affected everyone including white people of European origin. The total population of South Africa was about 50,000,000 of which only 10,000,000 were of European descent. The composition of the majority of South Africans though was not united either. The Zulu nation despised the Xhosa nation and the first people the San were hunted by everyone and are today sadly virtually gone. The apartheid concept was an ill considered one which attempted to give each group of people their own portion of land but without consultation with the various group leaders or representatives as to where that land should be or how large a piece it should be. It should be noted though that the European portion of the population were also divided and affected by these laws and opposed them at their peril in some cases. It meant that freedom of association was almost impossible except as an employer/employee relationship. The Dutch descendents had been abominably treated during the Anglo Boer war and in some parts of the country they refused to speak English. Our sons and brothers and fathers though were conscripted for up to 2 years as they finished school and failure to turn up was considered treason

If you are a South African you know as a fellow countryman that racism runs deep in our country, some of it goes too deep, some too deep that its rooted in old hatred between races, it can be quite vile & downright wrong sometimes, then on the other hand we are open about racism & acknowledge the faults within our rainbow nation to work towards bettering ourselves.
BUT no matter the color of your skin, when South Africans unite to stand by each other to overcome anything thrown in our direction (for instance standing behind our international rugby team), we are truly united under one flag, the South African flag, a flag that represents our diversity & unity all in one. South Africans are many things but together nothing will get between us & the love of our country & the people who make it.
Truly blessed to be South African & able to look at the world through any lens & not judge it based off of that one perspective. When you look beyond the physical you discover the character behind it & the truth of any matter.
EDIT; to note, as a foreigner immigrating or visiting South Africa, if you come with ill intent you will be treated with ill intent proportionate to what you deal out and then some to learn your lesson BUT if you come with good will, you will receive good will in excess to the point where your cup will literally overflow with fine wine (oh boy do we have good wine), really at the end of the day between the everyday people we have a rooted culture of welcoming guests openly & treat them with dignity / respect till proven otherwise, you get what you give here down South.

Firstly, great program Freedom Chasers. I found this to be real value!!! Yes Trevor is 100% correct regarding South Africa. I cannot speak for Americans as I dont live there, but what is being "shown", yes I would agree completely. Please dont take this wrong, see it is what is regarded as the norm.
It is said that if you listen to the same story over and over and over, you can highlight the key words. And listening to this the key words would be FUNDS, FUNDING, MONEY and systemic racism. Now the thing about systemic anything is that systemic anything becomes systemic everything. It is real, it is there, it is powerful, HOWEVER it losses value and power if everything becomes the blame to that - thus it becomes rediculous. In fact within Counter Intelligence you are taught; to get rid of idiology and systemic, become part of it and overpower it with making it rediculous, thus you kill it from inside.
Getting back to the key words. I listened to the reasoning within this; and it seems that it is not individuals or even groups. It seems your businesses are the problem not giving the true value of an individual HUMAN equally. So yes, it comes down again to money, money, money. My opinion, stop focussing on the rediculous and focus on your value as a human. I truly hope this country of yours, America, again become what you are supposed to be. Remember as long as you are divided, you are controlled by them that divided you. Good luck in opening your eyes.

Let me tell you all something. Apartheid was wrong, in the eyes of God we were all created equal, as for me, I grew up in a the SDA church where we would worship together, I never saw the difference, we are all God's family. But I have to say this, our country was ruled by a church group, and if you as even a white person was not in the group, you were also treated differently "apartheid within apartheid". They won't allow loans etc. But as for me, I am sorry, apartheid, whether it was documented or not - it is wrong. And as for you two , I think you are so cute, you both look so innocent and God loves that. May you be blessed. Amanda

BUT, tell that to someone who was ostracized for the colour of their skin and who grew up in poverty because their parents weren't legally allowed the same opportunities as your parents. Now what? They must just accept it and move on without any reform, recourse or repercussions. A lot of them want someone to pay for what was done to their parents and grandparents and for the limited opportunities or education they faced years after the fact, and guess who they're gonna make pay for it........ yeah that's right bro, you. What happened in the past wasn't logical so you think people are going to approach their revenge with compassion or logic? Nope, so strap in bud, life's not fair.

Like the dodgy cop that knelt on someone's neck, initially you will think he is doing his job but when he pinned him down with his knee and full body then you realised that this was not in the training manual for any police force. Please don't differentiate racism it is just one level, there is a lot of pretending and hiding behind rules, guidelines and laws in this.

UMMM, I think you may need to do a little more research on RACISM, For one thing you stated, "the slavery thing!" Well, that "slavery thing" happened to your ancestors AND we are still feeling the evil that was done to our ancestors right now but just not in chains. There were over 200 million of our ancestors that were slaughtered so that is definitely more than the reference "the slavery thing." in addition, also look up the HISTORY of what those people did to the African people in SOUTH AFRICA which included STEALING their homes and pushing the indigenous people out of where they lay their heads just like they did to our people in the land of what is known as America! They SLAUGHTERED THEM. Trevor has some knowledge, and he speaks it freely, but he too needs to do more research. Now, this is just a short list of what has been done and still exists just for edification: List of things that are done to people of color: Red lining, GI Bill DENIAL, Lynchings, Jim Crowe, Prison System, Drugs in our communities, 3 Strike Law..ETC. Just as a foot note: our people are still enslaved all over the world in some shame or form, again it's just not physical chains.
