Well, it's not every day you find the crown jewels! What an unbelievable surprise this turned out to be...and after speaking with the owner they requested not to mention their name so that's why I have bleeped out those parts. I can say the police are investigating and have contacted me directly. The items from the safe have been sent back and the tracking shows it has been received but I have not yet heard back from the owner since I sent the package a few weeks ago. Once i found a wallet on the street with $150 and all cards I saw the owners address on his driver's licence and returned his wallet as he lived not far from me. Turns out he forgot the wallet and his phone on-top his car and drove off. He was fully angry with me because he was convinced I stole the phone 📱 I've never been that disappointed 😢

The policeman on the desk was quite amazed when I walked in and handed it over. He was slightly shocked because I don't think that he would have expected that someone would hand something like that in. I never heard anything more about it. This was back in the eighties. When that sort of amount was still an eye opener.

Hitting a treasure like this is what makes all the junk you've previously found worthwhile. Treasure hunting can be addicting because you know something good is out there, somewhere.

@@BondiTreasureHunterI'd like to suggest you add a flexible cable tethered underwater camera with powerful LEDs to your arsenal of detection equipment so that when you're in the water you can wave it around on the river bed to see what's underneath in the water that might not be magnetic. Even broken ceramic objects can be very valuable, gold isn't magnetic either. Imagine what massive finds your crew might uncover then!

I suppose the bolts were meant to fasten the safe to the floor. It’s a pity they didn’t use them.
So happy for you, that was fun to live through. I've 2 ideas about nets for you. A noodle strainer to pour the safe items into and a large one for safes. When you get a safe above the water, drop a net beside and below it, then use it to pull the safe. No slipping off of magnets. You could also sell Bondi Treasure Nets!

Hi, Leigh and Nicky. Hope the footage of you, Wim and Joopie retrieving the first safe is out soon. Good job recovering the safe belonging to a member of a Royal family. The thieves only took the valuables (of course), but at least they left the rest of the contents. Well done on returning his property. I love the care you all take over these things. Not just redacting the names in the video but cleaning the passports down and tracking him down. Like the bike you returned to its owner too (so it doesn't have to be a Royal). Good on ya mate. Proper kind hearted bunch. Back to Leiden then (King Willem went to Uni there and aparently he liked his 🍺🍺🍺 back then so he's bound to have dropped something in a canal..my money's on the one next to Van der Werf Stadt Cafe).

As soon as you pulled out a Brazilian passport I figured it was somehow connected to the Swedish royal family, our Queen is half German and half Brazilian 😊
