EASY to Flip nightstands perfect for selling OR a DIY for yourself! Hope my personal selling tips helped! Let me know if you have any that work for you!
You mentioned rural furniture flippers, nothing boosts sales like "delivery available" in your ad! I found a young man (his sister helps) at church with a pick-up and free time one day a week. He charges $25, and a dollar a mile over ten :(& may need to hike his rate soon). Customer pays him direct (& often tip!). Its been a Perfect match!
Delivery was one of the thoughts I had as well! I’m literally JUST NOW getting started but my husband loves driving and we love taking little road trips so this might be a good fit for us! Plus (and I will check into this of course) I’m thinking we can write off the mileage on our taxes? We’ll see! Is the business/financial/tax part something you go over in your Patreon subscription? I’d love to know more of that info! Where do I sign up and how much does it cost? I love your videos!
I’ve found that turning old desks and vanities into matching nightstands works really well and a lot of people are looking for thinner nightstands for their small bedrooms
I really love your suggestions and attention to detail on every flip. Thank you for the time and effort you put into each video. You make it look easy when it’s not. Well done and beautiful pieces.
I like that you tell us what they sold for. Really helps. I know every market is different but it’s a good guide. I was surprised that you didn’t put on primer. I always worry about the paint coming off
Primer isn't necessary if it its pure wood, but you should use some if the paint is still on the furniture - mostly if you paint it white. If you paint it black, chance is small to get stains from "bleeding", but I always put a top coat on it
I think the market is rapidly and drastically changing irrespective of region primarily due to the inflationary concerns. All your comments were well informed and in my opinion correct. Another tip is to understand the style decor that is selling and what it is referred to in your area. An example is the twin nightstands you updated. In my Mid-Atlantic region they would be described as modern farmhouse, not boho. Boho is bold, colorful, emblished and unexpected color(s) and never sleek/ smooth painting techniques. Texas to VA isnt that socially different but we can be very different in decor aesthetics. Thank you for your frequent creative content post and for including techniques, rationales for your design choices and financial considerations.
Hi, I’m in Dallas, love to meet you and talk more with you. I’m starting a furniture company and all my furniture is going to be manufactured by myself. Need more understanding on how customers think based on your experience
Thank you for the suggestions. I am going to flip a few small pieces, but not to sell. Instead, I am sending them to a stop whose proceeds go to charity. Hopefully, I will come somewhat close by using your ideas.
Typically a liquid stripper is best for pieces that have grooves, intricate detail etc. and very glossy finishes. It helps you save money on sander pads as well which depending on your piece will save you money from buying more sanding pads on a piece that will require a lot of pads
I love your videos! I've learned so much more about prepping furniture. I'd love to hear about your paint sprayer. I've only painted by hand, but would love to try a sprayer.
We have an air compressor, and I’ve thought about spraying, but my worry is that the spray will go everywhere.Even outside, the breeze can carry that onto the lawn, the house, the cars, so I’m afraid to attempt it.
Nice job!! Couple questions: Looks like you stage the items right in your garage with the wall and rug combo? Great idea! Also, why don't you remove the doors when painting? I think I may have seen a trace of previous finish under the doors. Can't wait to see more videos! Thanks!
Same question! I’ve noticed other furniture flippers do that as well - they paint the piece with the drawers in and doors on. It also seems like they would be stuck closed!
I noticed that too and I think it’s a choice of speed. She needs to refinish items quickly & also homeschool her kids(!) and manage the procurement & sales, etc. I’m a stickler for details too, my father stressed that so I get it. I flinch when the drawers & doors aren’t taped off, hinges are left on, undersides not painted/stained, etc but that’s 100% on me. Her customers certainly don’t mind bc Kara is **extremely successful** doing it her way. Maybe she could charge more if those details were tended to but she clearly knows her market -and so I’m guessing they wouldn’t pay more or she would have already been doing those things. JMO.
I've been binge watching these videos, but I do have a question. I just saw a video that someone found a dead nasty bug and still painted the piece to flip. How do you clean to make sure that there aren't bugs or eggs in the wood?
There’s actually a product to kill any kind of bugs or suspected infestation. I bought a piece that had tiny pinholes that I remembered was a sign of woodworm (I dated the shop teacher’s son in HS 😂). Anyway, after sanding the wood you mix the product w water, brush on the *whole piece* to be safe & let dry, then finish as usual. Note, some finishes have dings and tiny holes to look worn so don’t be fooled by faked “antiquing.” Woodworm or termites can infect other pieces so if the suspect-piece has been exposed outside, kept in a garage for a long time (or a barn) or if you just don’t know but see the telltale tiny holes, apply product bc it won’t work if you apply it after it’s been stained or painted -and you don’t want an infestation to spread.
They turned out so nice! But I'm in shock that someone would spend 300 on night tables. I'm near Houston so I will definitely start looking for dressers! Thank you for all the great tips
I have a serious question. Thanks for the info btw. You always give great tips. I am having a heck of a time when posting to FBMP with scammers. They ask for my number or email, or say things like I'll pay you now and my son will pick it up tomorrow just give me your number. Do you have this problem? How do you tell whether they are a scammer or a real legit person interested in your item for sale? Could you give me some help on this? Im so frustrated as a new furniture flipper!! I dont know what to do! HELP!
Haha yep! I had about 4 of those myself today! Easiest thing to do is obviously never give your # out. There is no reason to. I do have to give my email for certain apps. One way to be sure is to check their profile. See if it’s been recently created or recently updated. See where it says they live. If it’s no where near you…that’s a big red flag. Ask when they can pick it up before you give them any info and you will usually get that whole “my brothers coming to get it” line. So you know quickly it’s a scam. Hope that helps
I watch another UA-cam channel called furniture flipping entrepreneur and he flips furniture from a storage unit. He lives in an apartment so it'll be difficult for him to transport all that heavy furniture around. He gives alot of great tips too.
I'm requesting that you do an episode about how you do your income tax and how it impacts your profits and what things you keep track of to write off any deductions like materials and things like that. Some people may assume that it's 100% profit but once you sell over $500 on Facebook marketplace you have to give them your whole Social Security number and they reported to the IRS I believe?
Wow. Three hundred for just nightstands. I was skeptical about the handles at first. I thought it would date the ounce, but the result is pretty. So, you don't think flipping dressers would take too much time or too long to sell?
I personally don’t like matching big box night stands. Use two unmatched then give them a similar finish and details. Less formality and more interest😅
I’m so bad at spending the time on the furniture, I just pick up anything free and flip it. A lot of people move out in my area, lots of apartment complex’s plus high turnover rate for housing, so I see free furniture on fb go pick it up or see it while driving and pick it up I can’t take myself to spend money on furniture, I have two kids and I might spend a bit of time touching up or just wiping down and brightening up with oil but I just don’t see people in my area who spend high dollar for refurnished furniture. Maybe in the future i will but I’ve noticed that lest time is best and to sell something a little cheaper and let someone else refinish it is best since it’s not like I have trouble finding furniture, for instance someone was getting rid of 2 $600+ rocking gliding wicker chairs didn’t know they were that expensive till I picked them up and did some research, later sold that week for $250 might have sold low to be honest but for me that’s a big chunk of money since I’m a stay at home dad and that’s my only income currently 😅 I would love to fully redo furniture but like I said since I don’t have the time usually to do so I just get things in and out quick 😇👍🏼
it is a knob placement template. you can find one here www.amazon.com/goldenwarm-Cabinet-Handle-Mounting-Template/dp/B088FGHP5T/ref=sr_1_8?crid=1BSLZU64M266O&keywords=knob+placement+template&qid=1659646360&sprefix=knob+place%2Caps%2C164&sr=8-8

Hi, I was wondering have you been getting a lot of scammers through FB Marketplace? I've listed 2 items that are similar but all I get are scam messages, yesterday I got 28 scam messages in one day.. is this typical. Is there a way to avoid this? Thanks.
Unfortunately scammers are common and you cannot stop them. They are fairly easy to identify. Sometimes I play with them and say ‘sure it’s available for $5000’. Usually I just block them. There is no reason ever to give your number out. I have never had a legit buyer ask for my phone number. Good luck!

that is an EXCELLENT tip!! Well done! Thanks for watching!
This is absolutely true! I know a man who gets a lot of sales this way, people love affordable local delivery.

Great tips. Really like your branding tool.

Laziness.

I always love your finished pieces. You take special care with them to make them beautiful. Great video and tips. Thanks!
Thank you so much! I appreciate you tuning in!
You are awesome thanks for showing me what to do 🙂 you do Great work love your concept painting skills.. much enthusiasm ♥️ love it
Thanks for all you work to teach us
So nice of you
great video Kara, I've taken notes! Beautiful bedside tables too of course
Great finish, love the class the handles add
Glad you like it
Hi, I’m in Dallas, love to meet you and talk more with you. I’m starting a furniture company and all my furniture is going to be manufactured by myself. Need more understanding on how customers think based on your experience
I will soon be attempting this, hopefully interest will be up and folks not expecting give a ways.
Hey Kara another WIN! The tips are great and spot on - thanks for sharing! Love how these turned out! Just perfect.
Thank you Maureen! This makes me smile! Thanks!
hi what is the tool used to imprint your logo into the wood please x
Thank you for the suggestions. I am going to flip a few small pieces, but not to sell. Instead, I am sending them to a stop whose proceeds go to charity. Hopefully, I will come somewhat close by using your ideas.
That’s not a flip, then. That’s a donation. Admirable. 🫡
Loved your making tape trick in putting a new look on the base!
Thank you so much! I appreciate you tuning in! Hope to see you next time!
I always love black and gold together 😍
How do you decide whether to use a finish stripper or just sanding ?
Typically a liquid stripper is best for pieces that have grooves, intricate detail etc. and very glossy finishes. It helps you save money on sander pads as well which depending on your piece will save you money from buying more sanding pads on a piece that will require a lot of pads
I love your videos! I've learned so much more about prepping furniture. I'd love to hear about your paint sprayer. I've only painted by hand, but would love to try a sprayer.
Thank you! I have a 20gal compressor and a $15 spray gun from harbor freight
Love it!! I wondered how that would work. I love harbor freight! Wish they sold a sander like the surf prep lol
Always so informative, always very creative.
Thanks again!
Is it trendy to paint over the hinges? I saw another flipper do that too. Those turned out beautifully!
Night stands look great
Great job!! Love your seal!!
Thank you! Cheers!
How and where did you get that burning engraver to put your logo on the furniture!! I've been wanting one 😊
It’s from Etsy!
Hello. Beautiful nightstands. Thank you for the tips and tricks. Great information.🌝
How did you paint the edges of the doors & drawers since they are closed while spraying?
I will open them up once everything is dry and use a slim paint brush to paint all of the ledges.
You made 220 minus material costs. What did your hourly work out to?
Thanks, great video!
Hey looks great 👍🏻. Nice Job. 😊
Thank you so much 😊
We have an air compressor, and I’ve thought about spraying, but my worry is that the spray will go everywhere.Even outside, the breeze can carry that onto the lawn, the house, the cars, so I’m afraid to attempt it.
@April G Great idea, April!
Hey lady .
Im sure you get this all the time but what type of sprayer do you use?
Signed - asipring roller painter tired of roller painting🤣
Hello! My spray gun is from Harbor Freight. Thanks for watching!
I'd like to know about the paint gun you are using. I don't see a link for that. Thanks!
What did you do to the interior of the nightstands?
Nice job!! Couple questions: Looks like you stage the items right in your garage with the wall and rug combo? Great idea! Also, why don't you remove the doors when painting? I think I may have seen a trace of previous finish under the doors. Can't wait to see more videos! Thanks!
I had the same question about the door. Yes! Great job!

I feel like i could do this.
I wouldnt even know what grit sandpaper to use
Usually 180 for a good scuff sand. Very easy!
What size air compressor do you use for your paint sprayer?
I have a 20 gallon
Can’t go wrong with black! Looks great❤️
I love these tips!! Nice job friend 💕
Kind of over the boho theme! In Redmond Washington! Can you give me some new bright ideas!?!?
I’m kinda there with you!! Keep watching I’ll come up with more! 😂
I've been binge watching these videos, but I do have a question. I just saw a video that someone found a dead nasty bug and still painted the piece to flip. How do you clean to make sure that there aren't bugs or eggs in the wood?
I completely gut my projects and scrub. I usually vacuum all underneath when I unload from the truck before it goes into garage. Thx for watching !

👌🏻 Love that paint! 😍

so what is boho
Any ideas of how to start flipping without having a place )a garage or so)?
I watch another UA-cam channel called furniture flipping entrepreneur and he flips furniture from a storage unit. He lives in an apartment so it'll be difficult for him to transport all that heavy furniture around. He gives alot of great tips too.
How do you know what the trend is
Im also thinking about this, do you have your own company for this to pay taxes for it, or only earn in cash paper??
I'm requesting that you do an episode about how you do your income tax and how it impacts your profits and what things you keep track of to write off any deductions like materials and things like that. Some people may assume that it's 100% profit but once you sell over $500 on Facebook marketplace you have to give them your whole Social Security number and they reported to the IRS I believe?
Wow. Three hundred for just nightstands. I was skeptical about the handles at first. I thought it would date the ounce, but the result is pretty. So, you don't think flipping dressers would take too much time or too long to sell?
Dressers are my biggest sellers. They usually sell the quickest for me. Thanks for watching!
Beautiful!! How do you get rid of musty odor from old furniture??
Hi Kayla, I like to use bleach, spray on and leave in the sun until dry. OR you can try Shellac in the yellow spray can (zinzer I think??)
Thanks! I was wondering this myself. 😀
Fun video but it didn’t address the selling on Facebook as suggested in the title. That said, still a nice project, good job!
You have a great eye for refinishing.
Thank u so much ❤️
Great job, the night stands turned out beautifully
Thank u Janet!
Thank you for your tips. Very nice flip
MrsJax304 Thank you! We appreciate you watching!
What a lovely & insightful video! The nightstands came out beautiful!
Gorgeous!

I don't understand your title it says we won't be able to make money
Thanks for sharing tips!!!
Laura Lossie Thank you! We appreciate you watching!
Where did you get your stamp from🤔I havent seen anything like that in NewZealand
I ordered my furniture stamp from Etsy. Thanks for watching!
How about Craigslist? I have a problem with FB giving my phone viruses.
I haven’t had too many issues. CL has much less traffic in my area.
Great video, lots a good tips. However I am really confused by the title of your post? In fact I almost didn't watch it because of the title.
Good point!
What is the plastic tool that you used to get the drill holes even in the drawers?
it is a knob placement template. you can find one here

Thanks for sharing! Enjoying your content, new subbie 👋🏾
Stunning nightstands! Question - I am using the same Sherwin Williams paint for a dresser flip. I a. Painting on by hand with paintbrushes. Do I need to clear coat after painting? 🤔
As long as it it the urethane trim paint it has a built in top coat! 30 days to fully cure
@@LemonstoLemonadeFurniture do you wait the 30 days (so it’s fully cured) before you sell it?
Wonderful! What was that Cool thing you used to mark drawer pull placement?
It is a cabinet pull placement template. You can find them on Amazon. Thanks for watching!
I live in a rural area. Income is medium to low. I do, however, use FB, and post on sites where the area is more upscale. Any suggestions?
look for booth rental options to share with another creator & I would be sure to see what price points are selling and stay within that amount so you're not stuck with a high ticket item in an area that gravitates towards $250-$300 price point. Best wishes!
Being in a big city like SF LA or NYC helps a lot
It does! I know I’m fortunate to live in Dallas.
Lovely, well done
YES! These are a perfect flip!
Very nice!
Thanks!
What size compressor do you have for your spray gun?
20 gal from harbor freight
WOW, LL, you do nice work! I can see that this looks like a satin in the end. I just used Rustoleum Gloss, navy, and that is as shiny as glass. It looks great on a front door, but you would have to be judicious with it. I couldn't see how that skirt was attached, but really could you have removed it completely?
BoHo? These look more like "Farmhouse'. Have you ever described anything as "Transitional"? I wonder how that would go over? (All small details)
You are soooo generous with your knowledge and I appreciate that. I believe the color is most important, even with stain. Flippers often forget that MOST everybody has that cold grey floor, and orange contrasts completely with that. I did a lot of searching to find a floor with the grey but some brown tones. I got a deal because nobody wanted it. LOL These would fit well with actually any style, even traditional. 👀💥🤩
Nobody could get furniture this well made and durable for the price you sold them. Win Win.👍
Hello friend! Thank you for the compliment! yes could be transitional, boho is just the hot term I suppose. Anything mixed woods...boho...lol. Yes, it's all about the color and the piece in this economy I have been learning. Lots of people moving but only buying the basics in furniture, no china hutches, ornate things, those are not moving now. Thanks for watching! Hope all is well and I will "see" you next time!
Really professional work. Plus I like your burn stamp. Just one thing put a drop cloth on your grass so you don’t kill your grass by spray painting over it. Your grass turned gold from the spray paint.
lol so true! Thanks for watching!
Maybe she likes gold grass, wish people would mind their business on little shii 🤦😭
Beautiful transformation!
Where did you get your custom branding tool?
Etsy!
These look really good and great profit.
LOVE everything about these!
Thanks
How do you do take your photos
just with an Iphone! Thanks for watching!
You mentioned another way to advertise other than FB. Did you say "at c"?
Etsy = )
Lol…. $100 is what my market would have a hard time paying for refi usted pieces. Sadly my area just isn’t priced where the labor makes sense.
It's beautiful
Love your videos. You mentioned Estsy, how does one find a reliable shipper? I would appreciate your insight 👍
I like to price thru Uship!
acetone will take finishes off like that orange tone on the wood handles too :) I have done that before
That is such a great hack! Thanks for sharing that!!
Very nice job! Where do you sell your pieces? I live in a rural area but have a booth in DFW.
Thank you so much! I appreciate you tuning in! We mainly sell on FBM. Best wishes!
Did you ever talk anywhere about what the title of the video says?
Earlier look was good
Ya Keep making Ramsey Solutions smile 🎉
That's the plan!

Do you tell buyers and sellers that you are a flipper? Or what is the best way? Thanks
I list that the pieces are refinished.

Good luck!
Yep Scammers are just a part of it now! They are pretty easy to spot. It's too bad.
So lovely.
Sansa Baelish Thank you! We appreciate you watching!
The look great, I can see why they sold so fast.
Thank you so much! I appreciate you tuning in! Hope to see you next time!
