Plus, lots of passes to go over! When you do the CDT, you will love the Winds when you finally get there. They are worth the wait!
I was on that same trail in August 1963, on a 3-day solo hike out of Fallen Leaf Lake, just before I was to enlist in the U.S. Army. As I hiked over Dicks Pass, I could barely keep my poop inside, but I had run out of toilet paper. I had to wait until I was below Glen Alpine Springs before there was enough leafy vegetation to serve as my toilet paper. And it was especially embarrassing because I had hooked up with another solo hiker, at Fontanillis Lake. a very pretty young woman
Beautiful lake. I understand the great memories there. That tea cracks me up. Cuz I’m a tea drinker in general and usually brought my own to work cuz what was in the break room drawer was usually pretty dismal. I I was like: um no. It’s been here in this drawer for years. I don’t think anyone has touched it. Lol. The bears disappeared from the Lake Tahoe area from the late 1940s to the 1970s. I always slept out in the open on my hikes to the Lake Aloha region. And I always wore long sleeved shirts and jeans so the mosquitoes were not a big problem. There were some privately developed camping spots at the northern point of Lake Aloha, and some additional ones on a peninsular that jutted out eastward from its western shoreline.
