In defense of Anthony Bennett - very few people even had him going top 5 let alone #1 in the draft that year. Everybody had Nerlens Noel or Vic Oladipo battling for 1st overall.
If anything it shows how bad of an organization the Cavs are.

I'm glad someone finally took up for Sam Bowie, he was actually a huge talent (he was a blueprint for the modern center) but unfortunately was plagued with injuries his whole career. Now do I think it was wise that he was drafted so high when his college career was filled with injuries? That's another story.

He's actually starting to shape up, he's not at #1 pick caliber yet, but he's starting to get back from his injuries. 2020 he averaged about 12 points off 46% shooting, which isn't bad.

Draft class matters for me. Darko is bigger bust just because of it. In Bennett's class there were some hidden jams, but it was nowhere near 2003 class and nearly all the players projected as high picks ended up to be busts that year, so it was not like Cavs could have done much better. In the Case of Darko, the next 3 picks were hall of famers.
P.S. Hasheem Thabeet deserves a mention in any conversation about all time busts.
