However since you can't upgrade weapons (you need to talk to blacksmiths after all) one will need to find the best unupgraded weapon and then use it for the early game. Amazing vid!! I think the ultimate challenge run, and one that maybe only you could manage would be some kind of "Fresh Start" run Basically, you stay at Soul Level 1 just like your stream, but, after every boss, you must throw away all items, magic and equipment in your inventory except the broken straight sword. This means that after each boss you will have a completely "fresh start", just like when you load up a new game, and will have to scavenge resources and try and craft the best build possible for each boss encounter with very limited resources. I think this build would be incredibly fun because of the variety it forces, the craziest spells, weapons and armours can all get a use but only once!! Having to clear all bosses and playing as deprived would be in the spirit of the run, but might make it too hard to complete! I'd love to hear anyone's thoughts, I really think this would be the most impressive DS1 Challenge ever completed!
I think it would be a fun challenge to watch, but I really don't think it would be nearly as difficult as you're imagining. Also DS1 is pretty good at having a good selection of weapons available to you at any given point in the game
@@JHobzStreams True, I think binning consumables and an armour shortage will make it pretty tough, especially as being deprived will really limit how effectively you can wield weapons
Zero Lenny already did a bunch of "Broken Straight Sword/Deprived runs" I've even seen that absolute legend beat BloodBorne with just a torch. Sometimes even breaks the broken straight sword for even less damage. Pretty much just gives each boss 10,000 slaps and carries on to the next one. The videos are pretty funny too.

Challenge Idea: SL1 poison Broken Straight Sword only A mostly set damage that takes a bit to get going, can be immunized, and you have low health so the long game takes longer
A shield's stability stat not only is proportional to how much poise damage will cause a shieldbreak animation, but also is an inverse percentage of how much stamina is drained by attacks blocked. Meaning, if you have a shield with 100 stability, you lose 0 stamina for blocking with it. The only way to do this is to enhance a very small subset of shields with Strong Magic Shield. While this doesn't change the boss count, it could make some of the more frustrating bosses could be tanked in this manner allowing for an easier follow-up counter. Unfortunately, Strong Magic Shield isn't available until the Duke's Archives, so it really only benefits you when fighting, say Manus, or if you were to start this challenge on NG+.
