    You had the right thought. That is a card catalog cabinet. Before computers and the internet, there was a card for every single book in the library and they were put in order of the Dewey decimal system. That is how you would find your book in the library. I would LOVE to have a card catalog cabinet. The library was one of my favorite places as a kid.

    • @imstillmata3675
      @imstillmata3675 Рік тому

      Yep, there were actually three cards for each book: title, author, and subject. And while school and public libraries use Dewey for both card and electronic catalogs, college and university libraries typically use the Library of Congress classification system.
      I'm fortunate to have two three-tier gorgeous oak and brass card catalogs that are they're useful for holding all kinds of items like paint and other art supplies, cookie cutters, and even bottles of wine! They take up a lot of room relative to how much they hold, but I'll never part with them. I love the little pull out shelves where you wrote down the number of your book. How great that you appreciate the cabinets too! I see them for sale on EBay and antique sites quite often, so I hope you're able to find one someday!

      @@kalenreichert Ha! As a librarian nothing made me happier than the invention of electronic periodical databases, even when they were still CDs and index only. Looking up each year in books was sooo painful!

I was very fascinated by the house-shops; it felt like one could drop in and hang out with friends for hours! Hi Natalie, loved coming along with you on the tour 🥰 thanks for bringing me with you all the way from Australia. I have a few beautiful yarn stores an hour or two from where I live on the Gold Coast in Queensland, and love to visit whenever I can. I used to live in Sydney and would visit a fantastic yarn store in the CBD. I miss the days when I could visit at least once a week on my lunch break. Glad that we have online stores and we can buy yarn from all over the world these days.
    My absolute dream would be to open a store that sells yarn and cupcakes. 🥰

    Thankyou so much for videoing the yarn tour in Tennessee. They were all amazing and I loved seeing the farms and the alpacas too. The flowing stream outside the balcony on one of your stays was so lovely. There was so many beautifully dyed yarns. Did you buy any? I am sure it was so hard not to if you didn't and would have been hard to choose if you did. The background country music for the video was great. Thankyou Natalie and Ken.

I already have a list of yarn shops I am making based on your videos so that I can do some yarn store travels, too! I don't know why, but the Kent's Critters segment made me laugh so much! If you can't figure out what to do with your yarn TN yarn tour minis, maybe some of the ones that are not made up of the same fiber content can be made into ornaments.
