Interesting fact: Initially Winter palace's walls were painted pale yellow with decour being white. Somewhere in first half of 19th century, walls got painted peach pink colour. Then during reign of Emperor Nicholas II, it was re-painted entirely (pillars and decour included) into brownish-red to match the natural red granite pillars of the fences of newly built garden nearby (same re-painting was also done to all other buildings around the Palace Square), while sculptures were coated in bronze. In 1937, commies wanted to paint it bright red, almost orange and intended to use an oil-based paint, which in the end was found to be damaging the wall, so already in 1940 paint was removed and building was painted grey. Winter palace only got painted cyan colour it is now during after WW2 somewhere around 1948.
I've tried to build this palace some two years ago. I completed the exterior and a portion of roofing, but never the courtyard and the remainder of the build. I have since developed much as a builder, and it pleases me to see someone pursue this project with better accuracy and skill. I have seen your updates on the palace in the WBC builds discord channel. Thus far, beautiful work.
Man great building. Nothing much to say. I’ve always loved to build and i’d like to start seriously. Which mods r u using? For examples the “half blocks” at the base of the entrance Columns, how do u get them? Keep up the good work :)
