Hey Jon, Such a crazy adventure 😂 As a good Captain, you need to know that refueling on water always can happen, especially which such monster you have. Than definitely “external electrical fuel pomp” can help with feeding your baby from petrol canisters🤘🏻
From Sandhamn to Visby it is approximately 100 nautical miles (190 km). The search and rescue team (SSRS) came from Fårösund. Jon´s boat probably somewhere between Fårösund and Visby. Let's say 80-85 nautical miles from Sandhamn (three hours from Sandhamn at 25-32 knots). This results in a consumption of 5.8 liters of petrol per engine and nautical mile (317 litres/100 km). Considering engine power, surface-piercing propellers, weather conditions and load, that is not abnormal consumption. Had the crew trusted the fuel gauges (why didn't they when the boat is brand new?) the incident could have been avoided. Bad seamanship is no adventure. It's just bad seamanship. (But the boat is still emensly cool.)
Exactly...I guess caling them "crew" is a large overstretched, maybe bigger than what they tried with the fuel🤭. Good they are ok...Northern sea aint like the Mediterranean love.

Many short trips with the boat should be tried first. It is important to know how much gas the engines will be burning at various points on the throttle. Out in the open ocean waters it can be very dangerous. A survival pack should be on board with food, water, blanket, satellite telephone, batteries, flare gun etc and a ocean approved emergency life raft. Hans had his concerns for good reason. It would be smart for Jon to take a course in boat safety and navigation given by the Swedish Coast Guard if one is offered or a course where he can get his captains license. Just my opinion.

It always takes planning, equipment, fuel calculations… Didn’t he have a radio? I thought that was a requirement, as well as life raft. He doesn’t understand that the bait could easily flip, and one rogue wave could have injured them all, or at least one hitting his head , falling to the floor or on top of someone else and broken their neck, legs.. or worse. I don not know what to say, I love your videos and your car projects, but this boat is only for show. A 52 feet boat and you have to sleep in a hotel, you have to fuel up non stop and when the waves are higher you get in a wheelchair!
When he will get more experience , he will learn how much fuel the boat will use per hour at certain speeds / RPM . This boat will really start to use much more fuel over 3500RPM which should give him a cruising speed of 30 to 35 knots . But at speeds pushing the engines over 5000RPM he will use at least 500 liters per hour . JUST FILL THE TANK(S) completely when you go for a longer trip .
If he can afford the boat he can afford to put a fuel flow gauge in it. My airplane has one. Mu fuel consumption from normal power to full power is about doubled.

@@BadWithNames123 you actually don’t have any clue. You are talking bullshit and I’m sure you don’t even have a boat drivers license. Otherwise you wouldn’t write things like that 🤦🏻♂️
Im really mindblown you have only 1000L of fuel capacity, 1000L is not much for a racing boat, in my experience the MTI 1100 engines run .8-1MPG (Miles per Gallon) at cruising 100-120mph of course at WOT (Wide Open Throttle) this is even more, these 1350's shouldnt be that far off from the 1100 s. If they where running 40knots/hour that is around 45gallons/hour per engine, times two that is exactly 340liters/hour. So in three hours 1000 liters is gone. The apache racing boats held about 600 gallons of fuel in the tanks that would be more appropriate for such an boat. I will not begin at the amount of bravery/stupidity to go out at open sea without a radio, flares, emergency kit etc. If you would flip the boat upside down at open sea you would be in big problems.

1. The help was not from the coast guard Please see comments above. It is a member service for members in SRSS to avoid actual emergencies. So it is paid by members and gifts not taxes.

Calling the team of swedish ideal rescuers called ”sjöräddningssällskapet” for Coast Guard shows how unexperienced of a captain you are. They save lives without a single paycheck and you take up their time by not being able to calculate the fuel you need. Please take boating seriously Jon.
Exactly. An embarrassment. Like someone else wrote, poor seamanship is not an “adventure”, it’s just poor seamanship. I thought he knew that boats are definitely NOT toys, they are not cars. The guy can’t even calculate fuel consumption?? To not understand that even if cruising speed “says” 40kn, it doesn’t mean you can drive 50kn very often at all. More likely is 20-25 knots depending on the waves. To drive at higher speed, it’s for calm flat lakes. Hans was indeed right and has a much better judgement then;his brother. I truly hope Richard has a serious word sprightly Jon and )instructs his daughter to not go boating with Jon until he’s chilled, had some scary moments. And defines,y NOT bring the kids onboard until he has proper life rafts, EPIRBS, radio, flares, fire extinguishers, warm clothes. If he wants to be a great captain, this is something you practice. Preferably in choppy waters so he realizes how difficult it would be to put TWO KIDS safely in the life raft.. Not easy especially in choppy water. Hans should have stopped him from this inane impulsive trip to Gotland. Madness. Insanity to not plan accordingly. Jon has kids so regardless what Swedish maritime regulations states, he should always have a proper life raft they can throw in the sea which is filled with food, EPIRB, Radio, flares etc. He should of course also have a VHF radio, satellite phone, warm clothes, PFDs d9r as many persons the boat is allowed to carry. Fires do happen and when that happens you don’t have long until you must jump ship. Not everyone will see you even if you are s9meehat close t9 land. The water is freezing and I suggest Jon Does NOT go by boat with Janni and their children until he has Al” if these safety gear onboard. Their adorable kids would not be able to survive for long in the cold water, nor would the adults. Plus he would scar them for life if they survived. He ought to be ashamed of himself and I truly hope the coast guard was tough on him and gave him valuable lessons and weren’t just nice because it’s “Jon”. . This is not a car being driven on a non moving surface, you must understand wind speeds, wind direction, waves to think of (the forecast and current weather which can hangs rapidly, it can some hours and hours before said forecast or be delayed just as long.
If people think I’m just a negative Nancy and jealous, you clearly aren’t boat captains. Th8s was extremely poor seamanship and I hope that he talks about this experience with his audience again, because man6 young bouts watch what he does. He MUST show better judgement. He should ask himself what would happen;if there was a fire onboard the boat, when his kids are in the nostrils and they’re out at sea. So chilling. I panicked when I watched him drive so recklessly with the new inexperienced crew lifting from their seats (incl himself) and didn’t slow down. I know several people in my life who were like Jon and never made it home They thought they were invincible. Like young teenagers goin*bin jet skis for the first time,, ending up colliding with other jet skis or busts, have their skulls broken. I was guts at scene when that whole Ned and it was sickening to see the brain coming out. If he survived I don’t know, he was airlifted to hospital. He thought he drove faster than everyone else, I was cruising at 38kn and this guy decides to do a donut around my yacht. He and his girlfriend he wants to impress suddenly falls off, straight in my oath, straight ahead of me. Lucky for them and me, this boat reacts quickly and I was watching where I was going so could disengage autopilot and turn sharply, but jeez, I thought I was going to hit them both. It was a terrifying memory living with me to this day. @Jon Olsson Sorry to sound negative, but please take responsibility at sea, show your audience that this was NOT ok. Until you realize his fats accidents harken, admit the wrongs, and get professional training.
I've a fuel consumption of about 2 liters per nautical mile. But my boat weighs more than 100 tons and is 82 feet in length. But on the other hand I'm doing only 5 knots so it's about 10 liters and hour.
I wish people would stop hating. Everything new comes with a risk of failure. Without people taking risks we wouldn't even be able to experience amazing things like this boat thru video :)
Sorry Jakob: your comments would make sense if he was operating a mountain bike. Operating a boat shouldn't be taken lightly which was absolutely the case here. Jon should know how much gas the boat will use, and to just rush out like that with virtually no planning? STUPID. Seriously, just stupid and careless. Quite surprising after all the time in Rickard's boat, watching someone as responsible as Rickard.
Yeah Stockholm visby isn't just a short trip. It's open ocean and everything could change fast so you need to be prepared for the worst and not relay on sjöräddningen
@Aria G. Nothing to be sorry about. You are right about the safety concerns. There's no question about that. I thought the boat had technical difficulties which lead to the insanely high fuel consumption. This would be quite normal for something as new and extreme like this boat and could be worked out. :) That beeing said i just don't like it when some people hate on stuff without a reason. I defenitely don't think you are part of this group because you've got a valid argumet and expressed your concerns. I really enjoy this kind of discussions. Have a nice day @everybody and take care :)
You can't take a bugatti offroading. I bet Jon is now talking with those guys from bernico to make some mods to change it in an offshore speed yacht instead of a 100 mph racer. nevertheless, Bigger Fuel tank Different trim settings Wind screen whipers and a crash course off shore racing and the problems are fixed. ....if Bernico fix those leaks. but still, what an awesome machine!!!
Cool looking boat and for sure something that brings joy to life which is most important right!, May I suggest you do look up the design of Hysucat and consider if that would be beneficial which I do believe especially if you want to be offshore it would probably be able to handle rougher seas at higher speeds and with lower consumption. If we compare even if smaller, I think their 8,5 meter with cabin does 50+ kn with just 300~ HP, so scale that up a bit and dream ;) Maybe the swedish company Candela who also have experience with hydrofoil could out some input. Cheers~
"This wasn't according to plan" do you ever have a plan? You never have a backup, you never think stuff through, except for details on projects (but where is the window wipes on the boat?). This has been clear for years watching your content. I hope you donated a big amount of money to the coastal rescue and that no serious person was in danger while you where out and unresponsible. I think you have already uploaded this vlog last week..
They did!

Why did they deleted it last week?
it’s a different version, slightly edited 👍🏼
@@swissajr yes it is but we are waiting for next episode...
You know sh* about to get serious when Jon starts speaking swedish.
J8n has no clue how fast boat accidents happen…
I like his "sustainable" and "enviromental friendly" approach with a boat that sucks up 1000L in a couple of hours. Well done rich kid!
Right? His father in law also zero care....building houses that have no green aspect at all. Its fun to watch them be stupid though, too much free time and huge egos. Sad they pretend not to face the fact that this is one was trully dangerous! North seas are no Meditarennean..

Love the sense of adventure! Life is scary. But all my big gambles either won big or taught me big lessons. In all cases it was worth it.
Good for you Jon. Thank you for continuing to motivate me for finding my own adventures and successes.
Hans is the sensible one an Jon the 200% ADHD one lol. Love it.
ADHD or whatever the fvck he has can easily become a deadly situation with such impulsivity, no5 having the knowledge of seamanship.
Hey Jon, I am just curious: What's the recommended cruising speed for this boot?
prob 26 ->
@@robinkarlsson8830 Must be more than 30 cuz this is no Standard gliding hull. My estimate is that this boat planes economically between 35-40 knots. But would love to here from Jon or Bernico more about it.
@@BadWithNames123 you actually don’t have any clue. You are talking bullshit and I’m sure you don’t even have a boat drivers license. Otherwise you wouldn’t write things like that 🤦🏻♂️

I know how this could be avoided...Richard should be there 😁😁😁
Should have just ordered a boat from Goldfish in Norway, built specifically for rough conditions and go fast efficiently!
Thanks for this vlog. The banter between you all was so funny.
Im really mindblown you have only 1000L of fuel capacity, 1000L is not much for a racing boat, in my experience the MTI 1100 engines run .8-1MPG (Miles per Gallon) at cruising 100-120mph of course at WOT (Wide Open Throttle) this is even more, these 1350's shouldnt be that far off from the 1100
Darwin awards for having too much money and no experience.
why even use abbreviations if you are going to spell them out ?
@@axel247 True, i used only abbreviatons, then i thought by myself this is a bit unreadable for people that don't know what those mean so i added explanations, i could've left out the abbr.
I do think they have safety equipment but didn't need them in this case because it was just the fuel
@@milangeurkink9917 I think he said he didn’t have a radio. And definitely nit a life raft to cut lose if he flips or the boat catches fire..
He should have a well experienced captain with him at all times until he understands the danger at sea, as now he’s a danger nit just to himself but to everyone else around him.
Until this has sunk in to him, he should not bring his kids and wife on his maiden trips. This was insanity.

Normally I don't react to video's, but guys. Are u all little kids or what? This is an amazing boat thats custom made, yes there are gonna be some small points to work on and get waterproof.
And u are all expecting Jon'll drive it fluent and perfect from the first moment, and thats impossible. You need the time to get to know your boat and when its driven correctly this hull can handle way more then what u've all seen in this video

Jon's Brother is back in the vlog 👍
Why is a boat for hundred’s of thousands leaking from the front? Just wondering (:
Bernico problem??
Every new custom build boat has some issues, Its the same on boats for 200m €
new boat new issues, theyll sort them out
There’s two hatches in the front of the boat where that water was coming from so I would assume they weren’t properly closed for the conditions.

You are actually lucky the CG was willing to tow you in. This is considered a 'rescue' and I would not have been surprised if they would have said: 'you can get on board out boat and we will leave yours behind'. Be prepared for that. And just as a tip...............always make sure your tanks are absolutely full.
This is the most Jon Olsson thing that can happen in a boat
Most expensive "lunch" ever.... 😂😂🙈🙈
I just feel sick that they take resources from Sjöräddningssällskapet because of stupidity. What if they could not get to another incident in time because they were helping these guys.
Sell the boat, and give half of the money to Sjöräddningssällskapet. They need it to help people.
Not an expert, but it doesn't look that the boat is made for rough waters.
Boat looks sick, performance wise also sick... but kinda useless for trips or vacation. Expensive lesson :D
Absolutely incredible footage. Great stuff, guys

@@victorbraam3730 That’s not even relevant. What is relevant is that he’s putting others at risk here.
Hope he tipped the coast guard handsomely is all I can say. He said he became a member which is good but I hope they gave him a lesson. It’s very dangerous if he’s only surrounded b6 “yes men”.
Had I been onboard I would be fvcking furious and demanded him to slow the fvck down.
That’s irrelevant, coastguard is for ALL nationalities regardless where the boat is registered. Stop thinking in such a tiny box, about taxes.. really? You’re not a captain so maybe just read others comments and not comment on things you clearly don’t understand.
What a epic vlog again!! Keep going with this amazing boat!

Jon, please ignore the bullies and haters who leave rude messages to pollute the comments section of your videos.
Nice boat but for a lake not ocean or sea🤣! That's why Richard doesn't trust you with his boats🤣
Hans knowing his brothers well damn right 😆
Calling the team of swedish ideal rescuers called ”sjöräddningssällskapet” for Coast Guard shows how unexperienced of a captain you are.
@@chateaucharlie Where are his kids going to sit? This is no boat for small ones.
Is it normal having water leaks from the front windshield into the cabin? on such a boat? just wondering.
Not normal.
I've a fuel consumption of about 2 liters per nautical mile. But my boat weighs more than 100 tons and is 82 feet in length. But on the other hand I'm doing only 5 knots so it's about 10 liters and hour.
how big of a carbon footprint can 1 person have
@ Jon. Was it you that sold the pictures to Aftonbladet for them to write an article about this, to finance the fuel?
yep this is the kind of videos and ideas only jon will come up with it.. and the best lol..
I wish people would stop hating. Everything new comes with a risk of failure. Without people taking risks we wouldn't even be able to experience amazing things like this boat thru video :)
i agree man, the salty folks in the comments duh ..
That beeing said i just don't like it when some people hate on stuff without a reason.

Different trim settings
Wind screen whipers
and a crash course off shore racing and the problems are fixed.

You’ve shared this video twice, I was looking forward to seeing part two today!
Thats weird he cut out clips in this new video too
Cool looking boat and for sure something that brings joy to life which is most important right!, May I suggest you do look up the design of Hysucat and consider if that would be beneficial which I do believe especially if you want to be offshore it would probably be able to handle rougher seas at higher speeds and with lower consumption. If we compare even if smaller, I think their 8,5 meter with cabin does 50+ kn with just 300~ HP, so scale that up a bit and dream ;)
Maybe the swedish company Candela who also have experience with hydrofoil could out some input.
Cheers~
