I don’t know why you guys have such a low follower count. You are freaking awesome! I have spent two years looking for quality, real information on snakes and you’re the only channel I’ve found that has as much detailed information as you do across so many species of reptiles. Please don’t stop making videos! Much love and appreciation!!!
Even within Texas, there are many localities of these guys, they're probably the most popular snake for field herping in West Texas. Populations in Langtry, Christmas mountains, Davis mountains etc are all visually distinct. Another bonus for seeing them is they love the rock walls created when roads were cut through the hills, so walking along desert roads at night with a flashlight is the best way to find them out hunting crevice spiny lizards.
Has it really been 46 episodes already?? Congrats on the successful series man. Once people find this channel they are going to have a wealth of great content to go through
I recently found your channel and have. Been binge watching these videos. It's amazing how few good videos about kingsnakes are on youtube. Thank you for the great information and content.
Fantastic video as always. I mostly have pythons and boas, but I grew up herping in the American southwest, so I have one of these beautiful snakes for reasons of nostalgia, and simply because they are so fantastic. I'd emphasize two things to anyone considering a GBK: They are supremely skilled escape artists. I can't overemphasize this! So choose and secure your enclosure with that in mind. And if you are getting a youngster, be sure it has been established on f/t rodents. Struggling with trying to get a reluctant baby to eat by scenting with lizard, making 'lizard soup', wrapping pinkies in shed lizard skins, etc. is not for the faint of heart, and can be very rough on both you and the baby snake. Once they are well-established on rodents, though, they are champion eaters. If you can get one of these guys, do not hesitate.
Man love the videos. This vid as well as the one on the Nuevo Leonis have been very informative. Got my first snake ever a gray banded king back in May. I was kind of freaking out with him getting to cold this winter in Denver but your info on heating and brumation has totally alleviated my concerns. Totally agree that they are really chill and amazing snakes! Cheers!
Of all the colubrids you have covered, I think that snake is by far the most beautiful. If I ever decide to obtain another, I reckon the choice has been made already!
I’ve been watching all your vids on king snakes because I’m interested getting one in the near future and your videos are very informative. I can’t decide which one I want I just want them all haha. But I think I’m leaning towards the Florida, grey banded, or California king.
I bought a Cali king last monday. It's a male aberrant baby Cali king. He ate and pooped already😀 and he's not scared or bitey at all. I keep him for the moment in an exo terra medium low. 60×45×30 with lots of decoration, water bowl, two hides. It really looks great. And when he's bigger I will upgrade his terrarium for sure. But for now, I think he's around 25-30cm only. So it's perfect for now.😀🐍
Your attention to detail on the habitats and biology of these snakes is awesome! I am Mexican, so if you ever need help pronouncing the names of the regions of Mexico, I am glad to help you out. I have been to some of those states, so I can actually picture this king snake in those regions. Amazing coloring and banding!
@@SnakesNAdders would yoh recommend a thayer or gray banded kingsnake? I read grays can demand lizards and refuse mice? Looking for a 2nd snake. I have a BP.

Better then the mandarin rat snake? Bamboo rat snake?
But yes I own a grey banded as well
My grey banded male is so chill. Loves his food and active to watch. Thanks for the info!
Weird question - do you NEED to trigger brumation (spelling?) and if so, is it fairly straightforward?
Another beautiful King Snake!
Right!
