- Is It SAFE to Make UA-cam Flight Videos While Flying my Airplanes? On this flight video Javier and I will be venturing out to Marshall, Missouri. We will discuss a question that I often get; Is It SAFE to Make Your Own Flight Videos? I've been flying since 1998 and own a Cherokee Six and a Retractable Turbo Saratoga. I have a strong passion for general aviation and I have been recording my flights for over a decade. I first started recording my flights to perfect my landings but then I decided to make memorable videos from many of my adventures. Join me as we discuss this interesting topic.

The work is done safely on the ground. And that editing is time consuming 😀 Hope you guys had a great TG Holiday! We spent a week in Dallas, now back in Denver, and heading out to KY later this week to wrap up a couple of business deals.

Great topic! Is recording video safe when flying? My overall opinion? Yes, it is MOSTLY safe. Depends on the pilot/videographer's style. As you point out, fly the airplane FIRST. I've seen far too many cringeworthy online flying videos, and they all share the same common denominator: playing to the camera(s) and putting flying the airplane a distant second. One pilot even chatting up/focusing on the camera seconds after touchdown - while still on the runway! First student solo flights hamming for the camera. Uncleared flight into Class-A, B airspace. Missing ATC radio calls.
I record some of my flights, for keepsake, er, sake, and often forget that I am recording. I'll offer that the safety aspect of recording while operating an aircraft is a matter of the pilot's consciousness of the presence of the camera(s). IMHO...
Interesting observations EJ! I’ve never seen videos with pilot’s playing around with cameras while flying but it wouldn’t surprise me at all. When my cameras are installed and rolling it is like they are not even there. All I do is talk away! My saying is, Never sacrifice the safety of the flight! 😀

Hi There, I was commenting on Jenny Blalocks video (we were having an interaction about a comment I wrote you didnt like) but the video has been blocked now, looks like Jennys family is slowly turning off all the videos.
I’m glad they are blocking them. It’s pretty sad to see all the hateful comments and so many hateful people. I believe the interaction was regarding a comment trend that I had started on one of her videos. So I automatically get the notifications. I just feel that all of those comments are unnecessary and disrespectful. So yes, I’m happy to hear they are blocking her videos. I know you don’t mean it towards me directly, thanks for that.
Of course they could just turn comments off then leave the videos up as a lesson for others. That way the family is helping others who find themselves getting way out of their depth. @@FlyingDirty
what is the gizmo that activates all the cameras?
It’s a GoPro remote. I’ve had it for about a decade now. I have also tried the Phone app but that never seems to work well for me.
Thanks. I’ve been using the phone app, but it’s definitely clunky.
I see 6 cameras (plus your trusty copilot’s handheld) and the remote is advertised to control 5. Do you have a second remote? or do you have another trick up your sleeve?
@@Kiwi0Six One of the front cameras was a new DJI Action 3 camera that I have been trying out. It’s supposed to have a battery that doesn’t get too hot or too cold but I quickly found that not to be true. It shuts down just like the GoPros. The app on the DJI, however seems more stable. The handheld we only use as needed. One thing I forgot to mention is that we also do a battery swap after we land to have a fresh set of batteries for our 2nd leg. Thanks 😊

Hello there my friend! Don't even know where to start but I might make a video about it one of these days. Tough to let go of a passion but there are several personal reasons (all good 😀) of why I am doing it. But there is no denying that I don't want to think about it too much because I enjoyed the heck out of flying that Turbo Saratoga.

I’m in flight school now for a year idk if you remember me I was here pre 500 subs and told ya you inspired me to become a professional pilot now at 37 in in a part 141 school and I have one more heart to go and I’ll be a CFI and then off the the Airlines !
