From the same parking lot you can hike up to Katerskill High Peak. It's lesser known and you can get amazing views on hurricane Ledge. Great video!

Yeah, there are so many great vistas throughout the Catskills and this is absolutely one of them. I think the popularity primarily stems from the ease of access and the relatively short hike.

Hi Christian - always enjoying your vids! Are you still using the DJI as your go to video camera? Looking to update - Thanks for any advice here!

Hello Kenneth! Yes I am still using the DJI camera and I do not have any plans to change. My primary considerations when purchasing a camera were ease of use (simplicity), durability (waterproof), and audio/video quality. I think the DJI is a good balance, especially considering the price. There are certainly higher quality cameras out there but not in this price range and with all of the other factors I mentioned. If I wanted to improve the quality I could record in 4k but I do not have a computer setup that can handle that anyway. I think it is a good choice and I have been pleased with it. Hoping to try it out on some bikepacking trips this summer!

Hi Christian - Thanks for the info on the DJI! I'm in!
Because of you, I've hiked Plateau, Overlook, Alder Lake twice, and Giant Ledge. I've hiked the Shavertown Trail (close to my home) on the Pepacton Reservoir which you would breeze through effortlessly, but still nice, especially when no ppl are present - just Nature. Looking to do the Rock Rift Fire Tower, but will wait for the ice to recede a bit.
Practiced what you taught regarding deriving water when available while hiking, and water treatment. While hiking at Alder noticed the bark almost completely removed from a conifer, with all of the remains on the ground. A friend mentioned it was a porcupine. Apparently they like the sap.. always learning -
Looking forward to new vids. You're the most informative and well spoken of them all!

@@kennethhope7458 Thanks for the kind woods Kenneth! I am glad you are getting out and exploring, my winter has sadly been uneventful in terms of adventures. Of course I spend plenty of time in the woods for work but I am much overdue for spending some serious time camping in the woods for a few days!! I hope to do some bikepacking this year but still trying to plan some itineraries. And I have a trip to the Adirondacks planned for early spring.
I've come across similar signs of porcupine around Hunter. Amazing to see the damage a porcupine can do! With my job I come across a lot of amazing wildlife. In the winter we especially enjoy identifying tracks in the woods, and we are always on the lookout for owls which are my favorite animal to spot.
