Mad ironic, I was just saying bruh I need a good video so I can fix my drums and make em punch more cuz they too thin to even get off to artists. Super clutch, needed this. BTW Congrats on the HNHH breakdown dropping!
The amount you turn down all of your channel volumes before limiting is the same amount of gain you want to add back with the maximizer/multiband. For example, I turned all of my channels down to around -6db, and then when I added the maximizer, I looked for the gain and increased that by 6db. BEWARE, if you add the Parametric EQ to the master as he does in the video, pay attention to how much you increase the frequency bands. For example, if you're turning down all the tracks by -6db, and then turning up the low end frequency band by 2db, you won't want to raise your master gain by any more than 4db, otherwise you'll have actual clipping on your master, which is not good. It's a lot easier done than said lol. This practice is called GAIN STAGING, and you'll hear it more and more as you get into more advanced production. You basically want to have make sure however much overall gain an effect is adding, that you balance it out by reducing it again before moving onto the next effect. A bit more complicated than that, but the principle itself is sound.
all i do is link all my sounds (808s, samples melodies etc) except the drums and percs to a mixer track and just automate the volume so that it sidechains with the kick. helps to control the sidechain more if u dont really have knowledge about compressors ;)
FOR FATTER DRUMS I USE MAXIMUS PRESET "PUNCHY DRUMS 4" THEN EQ2 BOOST 2.0DB AT 160HZ AND 350HZ, THEN I BASS BOOST %40 AT 90 HZ. SOUNDS AMAZING TO ME. ALSO ADD A SOFT CLIPPER AT -3 DB STEADY.
I was just trying to learn side chaining and I hate the fruity limiter.. thanks for this mira.. congrats on the plaques.. fruity peak controller, all these years ignoring that lil thing.. woow.. Thicc Mira Power User
Instead of having the limiter on the master, could you do it on a seperate channel and route just the drums you want too it ? or would that be adding extra of the sounds
Unless you know the key for the kick, you shouldn't really move it around on the grid. Sometimes it won't matter, but often times moving a kick to a different part on the grid will make the song just feel/sound off a bit. Use Auto-Key or a tuner to tune kicks! I see so many producers that tune 808s, but don't bother tuning kicks and other instruments!
nick Mira how to lower it is put the soft clipper when it goes over 0.0 db put izotope ozone maximizer lower the character and put the threshold down to make the beat louder THIS IS FOR PEOPLE THAT DONT KNOW HOW TO LOWER IT
if the kick dont hit i usually load up fruity compressor go in the presets and select brickwall limiter sometimes the drums preset, but the kick should hit most of the time if you level your instruments right
Nick giving us the secret krusty krab recipe
TR3YWAY
TREYWAY
Plankton finally got the recipe :D
Krabby Patty Formula Face ass 🤣
Krusty Krab recipe is crab
These are the basics
If your kick and 808 clash together and cause some clipping, you can click reverse polarity in the mixer, this worked fine for me for a few times
Y’all give the man some credit he’s teaching legends in the making

Soon as you added the distortion, that 808 sounded NASTY AS FUCK loved it 🤘
You definitely deserve more subs, thanks for this video , beatz era always gets his kicks knockin real hard and I never knew how
raising velocity for all notes can also be done by doing ctrl a, and then hold alt and scroll up/down ;)

Instead of having the limiter on the master, could you do it on a seperate channel and route just the drums you want too it ? or would that be adding extra of the sounds
you can do that as well but then instead of a limiter you might as well use a soft clipper
Create a drum bus with limiter, clipper and Multiband compressor
Thanks bro you the first person to teach me side chaining successfully
Thanks Nick love you bro!!!
I respect the hell out of Nick Mira for not using recycled drums
Yo Nick you going a little crazy with the loud claps

Thanks for the all the awesome tutorials nick
This stuff is cool if you wanna just post beats, but if you want an artist to use your beat you gotta level it so it peaks between -6 and -9db
Thank you! Been needing this
Avatar Mira
Thank you for this ultimate guide
Dope one. Now gotta make one for the 808, slides, etc...
LPFJGoldie They already have
just put soft clipper on the master lmao
ariabeats or put the clipper on the kick itself!?
Thats the real secret bruv
without soft clipper your kick will distort u can hear it on power beats apple earphones anything really
soft clipper is the secret sauce hahaha
nick Mira how to lower it is put the soft clipper when it goes over 0.0 db put izotope ozone maximizer lower the character and put the threshold down to make the beat louder THIS IS FOR PEOPLE THAT DONT KNOW HOW TO LOWER IT
