    This is super helpful! I have the exact same headsets but every time I use it on a all day charge, it dies out in 30 minutes. I swapped the battery and now it's working amazingly fine. Thanks again!

    Really appreciate this disassembly video. I still have my A50 Gen 1 in good working condition but the ear pads are falling apart and I gotta replace them. You really helped me see that I can do it myself - thanks for the tips, man!

    Your an absolute inspiration! I dabbled in soldering recently; I use an Amazon eye glass magnifier with light. Very cheap, great magnification with option lenses included for less than 25usd.

    Thanks I was able to replace my battery with this tonight! however I didn't pull my back pad thing that was glued, I just removed it carefully from the sides where the screws were since you don't have to take the whole thing off. Also if you're not great at soldering like me just take a deep breath and try, follow this guy he does it well enough. In school I always needed help.

    I'm glad I pulled up a second video when I began to feel some hesitation when he struggled with the cover for 12 minutes. There is "NO CLIP" holding the cover. The snap you hear in minute 9:32 is him breaking the connection point of the 2 screws he forgot to remove that are under the wires and board. Taking off the cover is not difficult at all and you should not struggle if you have taken out all the screws accordingly.

    My gen 1 battery has been going bad for so long but now it won't even work while plugged in. I guess I have to do something now. Thanks for the heads up about unscrewing without damaging the ear muffs.

    I just did this in my Gen 3s. If you happen to have a iFixit kit or a little tiny tool to pry between the white sticker under the felt of the speaker you can GENTLY lift it up to get to screws.

    Ok guys thought I would put my issue and fix gen 2 Astro A50. My headset would say it’s charging orange light would come on leave it over night come back turn it on red light would come on then starts blinking red with the battery dying beep. I replaced the battery and the issue has been resolved. The old battery was bloated and didn’t look good to say the least. With the help of all the different utube videos I must say it was very simple if you can solder. Took me about 20 minutes. You do not need to remove the inner ear foam cover/pad or the ear foam pad just peel or pull it back till the screws are exposed. In total 12 screws removed desolder 3 wires and solder 3 wires really is not difficult just take your time and you will be fine. Good luck. Any question don’t hesitate to ask. There is also no need to undo the mic screw the back plate will pop off enough to swivel it out of the way to get to battery once you have removed the 4 screws that hold the plate.

    Tip for anyone doing this. Lay both ear cups flat and the full headset layer on your top/desk. Alot easier to work with

      I have no further issue after changing the battery out. I get about 4 to 5 hours of solid sound. I also sue this headset for my conference call at work. Solid repair, completely happy with it.

    i just got my gen 4 a50 headset they sound great however for the left kidney they charge for these $300 ud think they would include bluetooth support great for gaming. astro needs to take a look at the steele series swappable battery design as well because if u pay $300 for something u should be able to replace the power source with ease

    thanks for the video. Was wondering if I should solder the orginal cables off of the old battery and solder them to the new one, but this is way way safer. But man you need to step up your solder game and please don't poke batteries with metal/ hard objects. Best regards

    Has anyone had problems with their new battery charging after replacement? After putting in a new battery, my headphones worked fine until their original charge ran out I guess and now I'm back to square one. They even cut off when their plugged in. The light changes from red when you plug it in so it recognizes the usb. I thought it was charging and I was so proud of myself thinking I fixed them. Now it just feels bad. I'm using the original astro wires. Too expensive to trash. I have the gen 2. green/blk.

    Anyone elses headset not turning on or even charging, but when plugged in the left ear (equaliser side) gets extremely hot which makes no sense considering there not a battery there.

    • @killakami4688
      @killakami4688 3 роки тому

      Weird mine was hot on the left ear side I can hear and everything on it but I cannot use the mic at all to talk the only thing I feel that caused it to stop working was that I think left it charging with a cable to long that’s probably what caused my mic to stop working because everything works well it charges great but I cannot use the mic ever since I picked them up and the left side of the mic was hot weird that yours does not let you charge though
