- Hello friends! Welcome or welcome back to my channel!!!! In this video we are taking a look at all the Succulents and Cacti in my collection. Plus we are cleaning up the succulent shelves and the succulents themselves!!! One of my goals for this new year is to be better about keeping all of my plant shelves very clean. Free from dust, leaf debris, and water spots!!!! That's what we're doing today. The last time I did this was 4 months ago (sounds like a long time but it's better than I've done in the past LOL).

We have been getting lots of rain…..gets cool at night…my heat is running right now! Planted some flowers yesterday in the sprinkling rain! And did lots of weeding yesterday too! Very nice pot-succulent combination collection. I think my favorite was your Huernia pillansii. But also, your Tradescantia baby bunny bellies, hanging to the side, looks great!

Well, thanks to you as inspiration I am trying my hand at keeping succulents and cacti once again. Mine are outdoors, however, somewhat protected by the house's eave on some wrought iron shelving. I am in SoCal which is dry and desert-like, (tho' it is technically not desert, it's "coastal plains"). Anyway, I have discovered the "other" part of the hobby is pairing up the plant with a planter of a particular size and shape. It seems there are more cute, squat, smallish (depending on the plant) planters made for specifically for succulents in mind made, than for any other type of plant, tho', yes, other plants can still be planted in these same vessels. This is kinda fun. Thanks for sharing your succulents and cacti. Now I have ideas of what else I might try to grow.
Pairing the succulents and the planters is one of my favorite things to do!!!! I also lived in SoCal, for 15 years, and my plant collection then was mostly succulents, and they lived outdoors year round :). They do so well out there!!! The perfect climate for them. Have fun adding to your collection :).
Hi Gena! I watched all the way through. I have a tip for you. Try inspecting your plants in the dark with a black light if you suspect mealies are present. I found out by accident when I was searching for a particular stone I misplaced. ( Yooperite, which glows under a black light) I found the stone and also some mealies😝
Ahhhh....yes. I remember reading that before. I have to get my self a black light for sure. A handy tool for plant owners :). Thanks for watching!!!
After removing grass yesterday to enlarge a plant bed, moving stone today I so needed this video. So many beautiful babies. I will need to rewatch it and list a few to look for. Since tomorrow in New York it is going to be mostly a rainy all day I knew I had to start the yardwork. Lol. Just so happy you posted this video..❤😂

Love your collection. You really inspired me to shop at thrift stores for unusual planters and so far I have got myself some cool pots and other dishes that can be used as pots,just drill a hole in it. I find my succulents really color up outdoors in the cold. Warm Australia 🇦🇺 I understand you can’t grow yours outdoors in winter where you live. 💚🪴🌿🌵
Thank you!!!! That makes me so happy to know. I love finding vessels at the thrifts. I still have yet to drill mine. Gotta get on that!!! I’ve read that cold temperatures really can stress them into beautiful colors much like the sun. I keep some of my succulents on the windowsill year round even though it can get quite chilly on there in the winter. Thanks again!!! 💚💚💚
I live right at the bottom of the world (NZ) and tend to put any cacti and succulents outdoors, where they weirdly survive! Always the wee babies that people give me 😂 then occasionally I notice something out there gorgeous that deserves to live indoors 😍 my moonstone is current fav in a white pot

What a lovely collection of cacti and succulents you have. The last few days I have spent cleaning and repotting my collection as well. It is very satisfying pulling all the dead leaves off my succulents 😅

I love your collection! How do you decide what you put where? I go back and forth on grouping similar vs variety.
Thank you! I really don't do groupings...my placement is more to do with lighting. I pretty much keep those that I'm trying to color up, right in the center so they are getting the most direct light. Also the cacti I keep close to the center of the shelf, right under that light. Things like Haworthia move to the outside since they don't need as high of lighting. But other than that, I don't do anything in particular...maybe my favorites I keep up at eye level but at this point, space is pretty limited, so they go where they fit LOL. Thank you again :).

You have a nice collection of succulents. The great things about them is most are nice and small. Lots fit on a shelf.

@@ThePinkTrellis I sent off some duplicates from my "jungle cactus/succulent shelf to make room for the lithops and euphorbias. I like the variety. I also hung three plants from that shelf in one basket planter in my sun porch. sooooooooooooo I made room for the new little and not so little babies.
