    This is, by far, the best Daz tutorial I've ever encountered. I'm only 12 minutes in, and I have been following along in my program, and I've already grasped the understanding of different camera views (never knew about those before, this is beyond amazing), and ways to place spotlights, and change intensity (holy cow!) Thank you so much!

    Just a short word here. Your video is good, but there is a bit of bad info here. You defined yellow-orange as being "cold" and blue as "warm". I'm a former stage lighting designer and I can say with extreme prejudice that you've got it precisely OPPOSITE. Blues are cold tones. Go outside after it snows (if you get some) and you will notice that white light reflected off the snow is tinted blue. Look into an ice cube, and the ice refracts the light into the blue spectrum, just like the sky above. Yellow-Orange is the color of sunlight and humans interpret that as being "warm". When designing the lights for a production, the Lighting designer takes careful notes as the director blocks out the action because her job is to make one side of the actor's face warm, the other cool. The degree that you do that is dependent on mood and needs of the ongoing action. If you want your audience to feel good, lots of yellows and oranges are used. If you want anxiety, tension, or fear, we go more blue and darker.

    Wheww I have come to the conclusion my lighting scks lol. Just did this one scene the other day and no matter what I tried I could not get the spotlight to give me a softer light so the scene came out more focused on one character (bright) and the other character (dark) :(. But these help me a little in knowing I am surely doing something wrong.

    • @ParmyBaddhan
      @ParmyBaddhan  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment. Lighting is one of the most difficult aspects of Daz Studio. If you want softer lighting use emissive lights or ghost lights to light your scene.

    #DREAM Thank you for another great video. I have one question though. Would it be better to incorporate ghost lights rather than point lights in a portrait shot??

    • @ParmyBaddhan
      @ParmyBaddhan  4 роки тому

      Generally you would use a combination of spotlights, pointlights and "reflectors" (emissive primitive planes) for portrait lighting to get very soft lighting and to reproduce lighting you would find in a real life photography studio.
      You can use ghost lights as an alternative to pointlights. Ghostlights as the name suggests is lighting that is invisible, meaning the light source cannot be seen. So you don't have to worry about the light source being visible in the camera frame.
      I'm a firm believer there is no right or wrong way to do things inside Daz Studio because we are all creative and have our own unique methods to achieve the goals set before us. Pick a method, master it and then repeat.

    What are your specs?
    When you go into the Iray-view, it goes so fast, whereas i still have to wait around 15 seconds (depending on the scene).
    How do you get it to go so fast?

    • @chappysix7666
      @chappysix7666 4 роки тому

      In your draw settings panel try setting draw mode to interactive. You could also try changing the manipulation resolution from normal to one of the lower settings.
      (I am assuming you have an Nvidia gpu.)

    • @ParmyBaddhan
      @ParmyBaddhan  4 роки тому +1

      The scenes in the tutorial are very basic. One prop and one character for the first scene and one character in the second scene. I have scenes for my comic book that have loads of props which take a while for the iray preview to render. It does help if you have an nvidia GPU with lots of vram 8GB as minimum.
