- The Eflite Viper 70mm is a wonderful rc plane but can be a challenge to land if the plane isn't setup correctly. I spend a few batteries practicing my landing skills with this plane often. This setup gave me the ability to land well and wasn't too tail heavy which caused me to stall when I gave too much elevator input.
Setup info:
AUW - 1900g
CG - 87mm
Elevator - 16mm each direction - 30% Expo
Aileron - 13mm each direction - 25% Expo
I am amazed how Crow braking stabilizes and slows my Viper 70mm V1. It enables a steep descent for our short grass runway with trees on either end. I highly recommend it.
Haven't tried it, but have heard its very helpful on landings.
That makes a great day at the flying park when you have landings like that
Well Mike, you've seen me get a perfect landing and a total crash and burn landing... Practice makes perfect..... btw, you are mastering that Habu, very well.... Almost ready for the next step... :-)
Great landings bud👍👍. Viper is an amazing jet. Just lost mine lol. It flies on rails.
Thanks Travis.. Appreciate it.. I sure do like her.. Great flyer, but can away from me on occasion.. :-)
Great landings Will, and very good advice! Maybe share your set up sometime.
Thanks Adam.. I mention the CG and Elevator throws in the video, but you're right, I should give all the specs for my plane as that comes into play... I'll add that in the description..
@@SteffenRC Yeah man when you make them look good folks want to know what your secret is...lol.
I enjoyed your landing practice a lot. I hear that some people don't like landings and make as few of them as possible. That is a shame. It is great to practice landings until you gain some skills and then can really enjoy that part of the hobby. I agree with you that the last landing for the day just can NOT be a crummy one. I catch myself going for just one more landing so I can do better than that last stinker. And then I have days when things didn't go all that well. But I think about it and decide that at least I didn't scratch or break anything with my landings so - maybe it wasn't that bad after all. I'm glad you had a good day!
In an earlier video you mentioned putting some type of clear film on the bottom of your wing tips. I like that idea and some of my tipsy planes need something like that. What did you use for that? Thanks.
I really try to preach to my buddies the importance of landing practice. They ignore me and often break landing gears and scrape up their planes.. All we can do is offer some help... Oh, well.... I really enjoy landings and will spend an entire battery practicing.. (if the other flyers aren't flying...). Great landings I've had redemption landings go super great 😃 and super crappy 😖
Its funny, when you announce a REDEMPTION landing, you really put the pressure on..😀
What are your flap settings??? Mine doesn't flare like that 😮😮
My flap setting is 20mm on first notch and 35mm on full. Good luck with your viper.. Hope my videos help you out. She's a wonderful plane, but it took me a while to figure out how to land her well. (consistently).
