Hey hey, I have a Mazda B2500, did my shocks today, going to get my ball joints and possibly wheel bearings done myself as well. Just slowly picking up the tools spread out over a couple months to get it all done. Big shout-out to the UA-cam community, working on cars has become a new interest of mine.
Thank for the video, you make it look so simple i have to change the same ball joint in the video on my Ranger cause it’s making a grinding sound when you turn the wheel.
@@ZHPGarage talk to any real mechanic who knows what he is doing and ask him if is ok to let the caliper hang. 1400 psi of oil - on the installed positionif you hang the danm thing (caliper) by the hose, that is a different story.
“We’ll just let the caliper hang...” Bro...😂 Great video btw. Just noticed a few days ago that the boot on the driver side ball joint is torn open, your video showed me everything I need to know.
Will these parts be the same with a suspension lift. I want to say it's about 4 inches. Do I order regular stock parts for ball joints, tie rods, and control arms
I was wondering. I just ordered my parts to change the lower ball joints and upper control arms. When I ordered I put in the wrong engine size. The parts are on the way.... does engine size matter, when you replace suspension parts?
what the actual fuck.. at 8:14 he just installs the snap ring with 3 seconds and a screwdriver.. either my snap rings are overbuilt to fuck or he needs to go compete in strongman competitions asap
I'm surprised he was able to hand press the ball joint in. I'm currently driving to the auto store with my tail between my legs to buy a air compression drill.
@@xddhuh yea, I actually ended up doing it by hand. Turns out I had the wrong kit or something just didn't work with the kit I rented. Ended up buying a kit from Harbor Freight that worked like a champ.

Did you get it done?
2 years later and still a damn fine vid
Probably trying to do this soon on my 2001 Ford Ranger but the video was very well done
I have one too! Lemme know about any tips about owning that year
The guy did a very good job explaining
Outstanding Video! It was very helpful. Thank You for making it.
Great Job saving that ranger. Can't wait to see the next repair.
Thank you, your video was extremely helpful! I just finished doing my 1998 Ranger and ‘all’ went well. 👽
Drum braks on 2003 ranger
Thank you for putting this video out. I used this as instructions changing out my ball joints on my ranger
Thank you! Very helpful! What about the upper ball joint? Should the upper ball joint be replaced at the same time?
On Ford rangers, most (if not all) require you to replace the upper control arm. The upper ball joint and control arm are a single piece.
Nice video! Loved the pacing
Great video for what I needed
That's a great show THANK YOU VERY MUCH. 😊😊

Great explanation 😀
perfect thank you. Gonna tackle this soon
Most boots have a small hole in them to allow air to escape as you fill them with grease. Once the grease comes out of the hole, it’s full.
Here is a man who loves his work! Can't beat that...
Most Excellent!
I'm no mechanic but you never just let the caliper hang. Use rope, wire or bungee cord to support it.
If it can handle 1400 pounds of brake pressure, it should be just fine.
@@ZHPGarage is hose pressure, not pressure from the weight of the caliper, two diferent things.Other than that good video , well explained.
I actually stopped watching at this point. You NEVER let a caliper hang from the flex hose, you risk tearing the hose.
@@ronmcnabb only stupid mechanic wanabees let calipers hang.

Thanks for the tutorial bro.
Super helpful !
Extraordinary detail !!
I learned lots !!!
Thanks mate .

Thanks, great DIY video! thank you.

I like it. Quick and dirty.
nice video
Wrenching on hidden parking lot without a place or garage to work on is a smart 💡
😉
As SOON as I saw you hang the caliper by the flex cable, I Kew you had no idea what you were doing... Moving on
How many hours you guy’s spent to replace that ball joints? Thank you!
the video is very good but I want to know where you bought your ball joints press
Thank you, we got it from Snap On
How many miles are on that Ranger? at the time of ball joint replacement?
Around 130k
Thank you! Great tutorial!

The best !
Thanks
Thank you!
Can anybody give me a name and model number of a lower ball joint press that will work on my 2003 Ford Ranger have not had any success
Thank you!!
35ftlbs will strip the brake caliper screws, trust me. Hand tighten and snug. Replacement kit is only $5 but 2 day wait.
My boots are ripped but the joints are tight. Should I replace them or wait?
Yes they should be replaced
Excllnt. Tnx brthr
fuckin a thanks guys, saved me about 2grand
You hang your calipers, i bettou wear rubber gloves too. Ha ha ha ha.

Not in this case of these style Ford Rangers, it shouldn’t matter.

@@dylangibson2290 honestly you can hand press them in no problem if you have a solid ball joint press with a breaker bar pipe

👍👍👍
It would be nice if there was more light can’t see very good
I allways grease my fittings before I put the rotors and brake caliber on
Never let the caliper just hang like that ! You'll be replacing the brake hoses !
Has a $800 Snap-on cordless impact, and a $750 snap-on ball joint press but doesn't have a $60 pair of snap ring pliers
Just because we didn’t use them, doesn’t mean we don’t have them. They were at home.
@@ZHPGarage Fair enough. Informative video, thanks for posting!
He has them , just does not use them. pry bar works also.
A good mechanic knows when it's OK to not use the correct tool.... ;-)
it's good to know you can do it with out them. Great job ZPH !
Yo u never leave brake caliber hang on it hose use brake hanger or use boung cord
If anything ever has a hose connected to it then you should never let it hang. PERIOD.
SHAME ON YOU BOYS.
Lol
Had to buy a Chevy part for a Ford so it will last longer 👍
Haha, Don't get any Ford on you!
Haha!
So far, judging by your videos, Fords require much less repair.
