I used to dress up for the airplane or for cruises and let me tell you I recently did my first flight in sweatpants and it was incredible. I had 18 hours of travel and I was so comfortable. It was the first time I wasn’t cold on a plane and I loved it. I also got to wear tennis shoes which really came in handy for my return flight when I had to run to the plane because there wasn’t enough time in my layover to get through passport control and security. My Aunty is 88, originally from the UK and her father and husband were in the Army. They frequently got posted abroad in the 50's and 60's and she said everyone dressed up in their best clothes to fly. The food they served was lovely too. She said it was all very glamorous. Her Dad got posted to Malta and she went too, she was in her early 20's. The pilot of the plane was Italian and invited my Aunt out to dinner that evening in Malta. Can you imagine? My grandfather, his brothers, my father and his brothers were all pilots. You are SO right about the past, compared to now! Everyone really dressed up! I am 50 now and even when I was little, we dressed up. Hot meals were served. My father always says he is so glad he retired when he did. So much has changed! I had to fly several times during COVID and felt like I was on a grayhound!
I so agree with you! I just once had a bad experience with light colors and since then I preferred something darker. Great point. When I flew from Detroit to Hawaii recently, that was a 10 hour direct flight, and a red eye. I’m definitely going to dress more comfortably then than I did during my 2 hour flight from Detroit to NYC. I still looked put together, but I wore a Vuori brand dusty navy color matching set which would be comfortable enough for such a long journey.

I wear mostly tailored clothes but I have specific body skimming sweaters and well fitting, slightly tapered trousers with discreet elasticized waistband that I wear when traveling. They are in neutral colors so I keep a monochromatic color scheme and both pieces are very comfortable to wear for long hours. As for footwear, I usually wear sandals or loafers. I do keep a pair of socks in my bag that I wear on the plane if my toes get cold. I don’t take handbags with me other than my carry on bag that matches my luggage. Thank you so much for your recommendations. I work as a Ground Staff at a big european airport. It is absolutely necessary to wear comfort clothes to avoid medical incidences on board but please think about that you get in contact with real men and women who on duty and most of us try to do our best to fulfil your wishes and let a flight depart on time as well as my colleages on board do their best.. So beeing well dressed is even a form of respect. So I really want to say a warm Thank You to all the people who confirm here taking care for how they are dressed for flying.❤ 0:49
what an elitist comment. Being clean and groomed is a form of respect but if you think that it's disrespectful not to be dressed well (according to your definition of well of course), it just shows how judgemental you are. Airplanes are nothing but a mode of transportation. Do you dress up for the buss driver? Because if not it shows your lack of respect.
That green colour looks so good on you. This video is really helpful. I'm actually traveling to Europe in a few days and I need some ideas for a good travel outfit
Tip for wearing open toe shoes/ mules when flying - bring little socks in your purse and switch into them at TSA when taking off your shoes so you don't have to be barefoot going through security. Just switch out of the socks when you get your shoes back.
That is such a good idea. It’s not a pleasant feeling being barefooted. By the way, there is always someone being negative when only helpful information is being given.
Last year I did this with little throw-away nylon footies, and when I pulled the back of one up over my heel, it slipped and shot off like a rubber band and landed in a plastic bin, two sets of security stations down. The security guy asked me if I wanted him to get it and I told him no because I was just going to toss them away on the other side anyway. He told me it was too bad it wasn't on video because nobody was going to believe either of us when we told the story of this hole-in-one.
Thank you Madame Anna Bey ❤ First time for me to fly to USA 🇺🇸 for a vacation with my Man 😍👋🏻 THIS IS A BIG HELP. 🙌🏻 I often think of your content when I see well dressed people in airports, especially well dressed AND comfortable, and give them an inward nod of appreciation.
A few cautionary remarks from experience. Don't take a cloth bag with you as they can absorb liquids if you have to put them on the floor, even for a moment. Once I was taking just a short flight within California and I brought a canvas bag for a carry-on. I put it on the carpet and it soaked up coffee, which I did not notice until I put the bag on my lap! That leads to second caution: be careful with light colored pants as they can get dirty so easily even if you try hard to stay clean. Also, no super wide legs as they can drag when you sit and absorb substances. No long skirts or dresses for the same reason and in case you need to ascend stairs as can happen in many airports. It is hard to lift your skirt and manage your carry-on with people pushing all around you. Also, button front shirts - another caution. I thought I looked so neat and tidy with my white button front shirt until I caught a reflection of myself in the airport recently. Some of the front buttons must have popped open when I put my carry-on bag on my shoulders after flying all night. I was so tired and didn't notice. I was walking around with my bra showing and no one told me!! From now on, no more button-up blouses for me on a plane!
Yes, my husband ended up with a dropped cup of coffee in his lap from the person sat next to him. Luckily he had jeans on so you couldn't tell but he was uncomfortable sitting in wet trousers and it burned.
I like this video. My flights are usually 14 hours from US to India. The difference in climates is a huge factor as for as as the distance. I usually go from very very cold weather in the winter from US to a very very hot climate in India. I usually don't travel that much except for this trip where I've gone about six or seven times. So some of the ideas that you are talking about or very helpful.
This is such an important topic. Just because I am flying on an airplane doesn’t mean that I have to look like I just finished gardening and decided to go somewhere…
Okay, I need to do more shopping now :) I typically wear my regular jeans or pants + a jumper or a T-shirt in summer. Anyways, great ideas and I'd love to get one of these "PJs" for my next travels.
Try flying in Economy for over 30 hours. Comfortable & presentable as much as humanly possible is the goal. Its either too hot or too cold depending on what the mood of the pilot is or what airport you’re connecting through. For me as Im also a super clean freak i wear cuffed jogging pants ( no loose yoga pants due to the restroom conditions) & a long sleeve shirt with a pullover sweatshirt as it freezes once you hit 32,000 feet up. Since im always cold I carry thick socks & gloves to wear specially during December/ January months.
I thought I was the only one that called my airplane outfit pajamas. I bought Jimmy Choo sneakers with pearl accents for my travel days and I receive so many compliments. They elevate the pj look.
Love your channel! We are always traveling. My number one tip for dressing for travel? Forget the bra! No one is going to notice. This took me 60 years to figure out.
Ummmm… no one on earth wants to see me without some form of support and coverage 😂👹 I think this varies drastically based on the size and perkiness of one’s chest haha
@@karenhanson359 😀😀I figured out long ago that people are far more interested in what you think of THEM than what they think of you. Most people hardly notice how you look and couldn't care less if your boobs are hugging the floor.
I have a large enough chest that people WILL notice if I’m not wearing a bra, but I usually go with a bralette or low-impact sports bra (think yoga, not running) when travelling for comfort.
On a 3-country trip in May, I wore a caramel coloured suede jacket with cotton lining. A man's jacket, but just perfect. It saw me through changes of temperature, and I could roll it up. It went with everything I wore on the trip. It was also smart at airports and on the flights and trains
I flew the other week and was looking for this exact video from you prior 🙂 I do not have a private jet (LOL), so I wear the following: -close toed shoes with socks. I’ve needed to run plenty of times in an airport. I will switch out these socks after TSA check in a dirty bag, and put on a clean pair before putting my shoes back on. -clothes I can sweat in. The variances in temperature, the lugging of my carryon and backpack, and walking/running I always have to do all make me sweat. Airlines pack you in like sardines. Their jetbridges are usually so stuffy and hot, especially in the warm months. I need to dress in items I can wash in the hotel sink if need be. I’ve dressed more elegantly before on flights, and I am always miserable sadly. To be clear, I am not sloppy. My airline-wear fits me well, is stylish, and is practical. -pleated trousers with an elasticated band. These pants have belt loops so I can dress them up, if needed, but I’m pregnant right now and prefer the stretch. It’s an elegant trouser pant from Alo. -a short sleeve top. This allows me to be comfortable when the temperature varies upward. -a button down collared long sleeve shirt on top to keep me warm and covered when the temperature dips. -I always have fresh hair and very light makeup with spf on. -light jewelry. I never bring my most prized jewelry. -I am on the lookout for fitted linen or merino wool travel clothing….wink, wink, Anna!! 😉 I don’t mind the wrinkling (I bring a travel steamer, and I can wash easily in the hotel sink), but I have yet to find a brand that is for tall women. I need an inseam of at least 33.5 inches (I’m 5’8” or 5’9”, so not tall, but most brands make clothes for 5’5” and below! It’s frustrating, as items really don’t fit). Consider adding travel wear to your brand, please 🙏 Linen and merino. Please don’t use plastic materials. Please make the inseam long enough for ladies like me. I’ll buy every color ❤
Love this! I have seen fashion "experts" recommend the matching sweats to wear like you showed not to wear. They were elevated sweats but still, you can be comfortable and wear something less frumpy. I have always been one to go for comfort but people have taken it too far with the sweats and leggins.
Outstanding video - excellent topic, thank you Anna! P l e a s e make a video about this for men (men tend to dress much worse for airtravel than women). I always wear a knee length flared jersey dress with a light scarf or shawl topper depending on the season and slip shoes for flights. Dresses are so easy in the bathroom! My rule for flying is this: Dress comfortably and as if you'll be meeting someone special on arrival - because even if youre not, you just might...
I always wear dresses when travelling because I feel most comfortable in them and dresses, especially soft and stretchy do not restrict me in any way. I also always bring a cardigan to wear during the flight because I feel cold. I have a few thick long cardigans and they go with the dresses really well. I do wear heels but I'm usually taking them off during the flight and put compression socks on. Always works well for me. I look elegant and I'm comfortable.
As a frequent flyer I love white on others but personally prefer a more neutral colour pant eg camel and a blazer which can be black/Navy etc and a loafer that I can kick off on board and put my Sox’s on but I also take a cardigan for on board it works well. Yes it’s a very predictable travelling outfit but it works for looking put together and for comfort ❤ but I still really enjoyed the video thanks Anna
Thank you apka karan mujhe acha fashion sense malum hua hai. Apka Karan mera fashion bohot acha hogaya hai. Aur main abhi acha fabric bhi chun sakne lagi hoon , aur aajkal log bhi mujhe acha kapda pehenta hai bolne lage hai , thank you beautiful Ana ❤
Anna, I loved this video. Very informative with lots of practical ideas and suggestions. You recently did a poll on preferred video styles and lengths. For me a 15 min video packed with practical ideas is my preferred video format.
Hi Anna! Amazing video as always! I’m curious if you could do a video (if you haven’t already) about shoes that look classy in summer. I’ve really been struggling to branch out, because I’m usually a Converse type of girl, but I’d love to expand my horizons. Hope you’re having a beautiful summer! xx
My father was a career pilot and taught me: when flying do not wear rubber bottom shoes. Try to always wear leather shoes when you travel because ( Heaven forbid!) if there’s a crash, or fire in the cabin, the last thing you want is your shoes melting in burning jet fuel. In plane crashes, this is a very real danger.
Anna, I love your videos about style! I'm a med student and need to study long hours at the library. I still try to look my best, but sometimes it can get very uncomfortable. I often look quite overdressed compared to my peers who wear jeans and T-shirts. Could you maybe do a tutorial for college/university students?Keep up the quality content!By the way, I think you have an extra happiness glow these days.
I can not for the life of me find it, but I remember there was an older video that discussed airport fashion, and although I can not remember brands, I recall she recommended hard shell suitcases that did not attract attention. The ones presented on-screen were muted colors like greys and blues. I believe her reasoning was safety so as to decrease risk of luggage being swiped, and hard shell so as to protect the inner contents. Hope this helps!
Love your tips, even though my flights tend to be under 2 hours. I love cardigans for travel. Something not mentioned (and a reason not to wear your gym shoes) is gym shoes often smell worse when people take their shoes off, compared to dressier shoes, just from the sweat of the workouts.
I loved to travel in long dresses, now it depends. For sure, the outfit should pass 3 criteria: 1) Is it for outdoors 2) Natural fabric 3) Impressive look.
Beautiful outfits but I don't know that I could do it. I'm super sensitive to cold temps. I normally wear a ton of layers (2 pairs of pants, cabin socks, multiple long sleeve tops) and am still cold when I fly! I would freeze if I tried these outfits 🥶
See I dont dress fancy on planes because usually im flying at night and going straight to the hotel and straight to bed especially if its a late flight. Now I completely understand if its a business trip or a day flight where you’re going straight to your location. I personally like a cute matching set, comfort shoes, and like just have my hair and skincare done. I tend to fly at night/evening so when I land at like 9-10pm, getting in a car, and I am going straight to the hotel, and showering and getting immediately into my bed. But I definitely think if its a day flight or a business trip you need to dress appropriately. 😊 i also like materials that breathe and arent sticky i tend to fly to very hot climates and there is nothing worse than sweaty clothes!
I always dress up for traveling, I always have. Pleated slacks, even a hat. Consequently, my daughter asks, “How do you always get bumped up to first class?” 😊
I started wearing lounge clothes while traveling a few years ago. Never understood wearing athletic wear bc in my opinion it’s restricting and almost suffocating to wear for an extended period of time. Also when wearing lounge wear, you can step off the plane and feel at ease and not in a rush to change. I’ve also noticed people move differently around you when you look nicer in general. Lastly wear nicer clothes makes me somehow feel more at ease when traveling which can feel stressful for me. I usually wear a loose pant and cozy top, always cream/neutrals and I’ve never gotten dirty thankfully
OMG was thinking about this topic just this week . Will be traveling soon and really been trying to research and piece together a great airport outfit as I’ll be meeting someone special on the other side and want to make a good impression. Thank you for this Anna . Super Greatful ❤️
Hi Anna. So true people are way too casual even sloppy They could come from some money even lots of they play themselves down as to not attract any attention as there are predators I agree I always dress like up so. Summer dresses clips in long hair perfume feminine 💃🏾💛

I am just always so cold when I fly. Also because my originating airport is a smaller airport, I always have connections. Heels running to the next gate isn’t enjoyable
Safety is elegant. Wear something that can help you at the emergency landing, natural matetials that will not melt to your skin in the case of fire, shoes that will be on your feet even you get upside down, sleak clothes that will not hang you by your neck when you depart the plane through the emergency door, and a bag conviently attached to your body with identity documents and blood type information.
I love your videos and all my life i had been made fun by people (my SIL special mention) for not having style. I want to put your words into practice but unfortunately don't have a lot of money.
Heels are great, the only "walking" is from security to the gate. There is not walking really involved on the plane. They are easy to take off and put on, and heels are better to go to the bathroom plane.
Just remember that sometimes flights get delayed and you might have to run to your next flight (in case you are connecting) so l would recommend comfortable shoes. Also, in case of an emergency you want comfortable shoes.😉
@@marinab.8590 Yes It is true, also flats can fit anywhere in case of an emergency. You can put it in your purse. Plus some women are more comfy in heels than flats. 👠😀
Have you ever been to the airport in Bangkok? They make you walk miles through the shops. We didn't realise and had to run to get our connecting flight and only just made it before the gates closed. It was ridiculous.
Gates often can change these days and you might find yourself hiking to another gate. Light and pastels are not good for flying. Jumpsuits band wide leg pants also get in the way and end up dragging on dirty floors in the airport and plane.I
Great tips Would love some new ideas for traveling first class with a small doggie… leaving extreme heat in Miami, having to go directly to a meeting in a record company in New York…any suggestions? Thanks….☺️🐶🎸🎵
I used to do business travel several times a month. I would suggest getting to the destination airport a few hours early so you have time to regroup before your first meeting. It’s nice to have lounge access at the destination airport so you can refresh your look, easy a bit, and prep for the meeting. The thing I hated most was landing, and then rushing to get to a meeting. It always left me frazzled. … And right now, it’s pretty hot in New York as well.
Why the need to take your dog? Can't you put it into a kennel? Some people have allergies to pet fur / dust etc and in an enclosed space doesn't sound a great idea, also your dog will suffer with the popping ears. Good luck getting a record deal if that is the point of your meeting. Sounds exciting.
@@softsophisticate Honestly, I wondered the same thing. Pet guardians seem to have a level of comfort and acceptance with being near animals in enclosed and public spaces (like restaurants) that I don’t share. (I credit Instagram influencer posts with the rise in this.) I would prefer not to be on a plane with a dog (or loud children… or adults, lol). The allergen issue causes legitimate misery for some people. I don’t wear strong perfume for that reason.

Ms. Bey, I hope you and your family are staying safe in light of the flooding happening in Switzerland.
Tip for wearing open toe shoes/ mules when flying - bring little socks in your purse and switch into them at TSA when taking off your shoes so you don't have to be barefoot going through security. Just switch out of the socks when you get your shoes back.
Uhm... we don't do that in the rest of the world.
@@melaniesander9605 I'm leaving the tip for people who have to take off shoes. Obviously it's not for those who don't.
@@melaniesander9605 I always do this...I don't want my socks or feet on the airport floor (shudder)
Somehow I'm travelling and she decides to release this video omg thanks
I'm traveling too, going to paris and I already have my outfit ready 😊
Thank you Madame Anna Bey ❤ First time for me to fly to USA 🇺🇸 for a vacation with my Man 😍👋🏻 THIS IS A BIG HELP. I got all my OOTD for the trip flying from SAUDI to USA after viewing this as my guide. Shop at Mango and Marks & Spencer afterwards. YOUR SUCH A SISTAH ANNA BEY!!! More videos related to fashion and style please 😍. To all the valuable comments its a side tips, LOVE IT!!! 😍
🙌🏻 I often think of your content when I see well dressed people in airports, especially well dressed AND comfortable, and give them an inward nod of appreciation.
@@rachelsturgill8408 me too🤩
A few cautionary remarks from experience.
I support this so much! I wish people took pride in how they look and had respect for themselves, the space, and others.
I’m definitely going to try a long cardigan or blazer next time I travel. I like a flat shoe that I don’t have to unlace at security!
I remember going to Bolivia in my favorite boots, knee length skirt, even a hat - traveling “old school” just gave me more confidence to handle it.
Video request: Tips for looking elegant going out and evening clothes. Love all your videos, thank you so much! 💛
That mint coloured shirt looks gorgeous on you Anna!
Great timing. I’m leaving next week, I have a nice set of ‘pajamas’ and I am going to try this and see what my husband says.
Love your channel! We are always traveling. My number one tip for dressing for travel? Forget the bra! No one is going to notice. This took me 60 years to figure out.
Depends on how loose the top is and also the size of boobs. If I don’t wear bra it is noticeable unless my top is super oversized
Ummmm… no one on earth wants to see me without some form of support and coverage 😂👹 I think this varies drastically based on the size and perkiness of one’s chest haha
Great tip, thank you, being small chested, no-one will notice if I don't wear a bra.
@@karenhanson359
😀😀I figured out long ago that people are far more interested in what you think of THEM than what they think of you.
I flew the other week and was looking for this exact video from you prior 🙂
I do not have a private jet (LOL), so I wear the following:
-close toed shoes with socks.
Truly excellent advise and accurate for "leveling Up"! Thank you for all the time and effort you put into all these videos for us, Anna.
I still do travel like back in the days... o God, people are all at my services
Good for you!
Yes, that is one benefit, more likely to get attentive service, not always though.....
I’m much more comfy in a dress, too. I love a knit midi-dress for travel, but it must be in a breathable fabric, no polyester.🙂
@@kimberlyperrotis8962 100%! I only wear natural fabrics

Love this! Could you do another video for summer outfits in airport? Where the airport is freezing and outside is super hot?😅
THANK YOU! Very helpful and best of all practical. I've watched it twice to make a plan for travel help. Thanks again.
I went on a Cunard cruise and loved bringing 9 ballgowns... for myself and my daughter.. Travel in style and always look good.
We would like to see some videos of where to buy our clothes from like online shops, and thanks for your efforts
I was JUST pondering this topic. Your videos are always quite timely, Anna. 🖤
Please where is your office chair from? I love it!! ❤
Great tip on shoes you can easily take off and put back on again.
Hope you’re having a beautiful summer! xx
I love the long cardigan idea. Thank you Anna 🌷
I love you Anna Bey.
New fear unlocked. And Oh my, I never thought about that possibility before. Makes total sense.
Anna, thanks for the video! You look gorgeous in this seafoam green💚
Could you make a video on best materials for handbags? What looks good in the summer? winter? thank you, Anna.
I am a man, and I find your videos eye-opening, even though I am gay. Everyone can learn something from your videos.
Would you please make a video about luggages and carry-on? What brand or what type to buy? Thank you! 🙏🏼
She has at least two older videos about this. She uses silver hard shell Rimowa luggage and I think a large black Alaia tote bag.
@@AngelOnMyShoulderProductions thank you! 🤗
@@karenhanson359 Thank you! 🤗
Lovely video...thank you, Anna...I like how you are shinning in this video, you look very happy and positive🤩
Anna, you probably noticed, but there's a delay between visuals and audio 😢
Beautiful outfits but I don't know that I could do it. I'm super sensitive to cold temps. I normally wear a ton of layers (2 pairs of pants, cabin socks, multiple long sleeve tops) and am still cold when I fly! I would freeze if I tried these outfits 🥶
Like I always say, just because you’re going on an airplane, doesn’t mean you can’t dress nice and comfortable 😊
10 hours into the flight in your economy seat and you realize that really its not important at all. Everyone look tired, wrinkly and messy 😂
@Natie777j To some people it really does matter. You can still have a nice outfit even if it gets wrinkled along the way.
Agree❤
Hello @AnnaBeyOfficial can you talk about how to be elegant at the gym? Thank you!
Good quality cotton simple plain trousers - versatile comfortable and respectable
I love these big sis videos. Thanks for the tips, Anna!
This color on you is GORGEOUS
Hi Anna, you look gorgeous with this hair.. and thanks for this video!! 😊
You look beautiful in this color blouse, love it and thank you for all these great videos🙏
Always a pleasure watching you. ❤
Great tips people help also help you with your bags when you’re looking 😂I love it that way.
I will be going on vacation soon and will still make the effort to look decent and not look as though I have just rolled out of bed 🙂
Super Greatful

Just a small note. The ads for your clothing cover the cc section of the screen. As a hearing impaired person I rely on the cc. 🙂
How is it going?! amazing content.
Hi Anna. So true people are way too casual even sloppy They could come from some money even lots of they play themselves down as to not attract any attention as there are predators I agree I always dress like up so. Summer dresses clips in long hair perfume feminine 💃🏾💛
I love how this is basically a kurta pajama. South Asian girlies have been wearing these forever 🇮🇳🪷

Hi ana I love the chic airport wear . I like always to dress chic and very well put together it goes also with my character and personality 😊
I am just always so cold when I fly. Also because my originating airport is a smaller airport, I always have connections. Heels running to the next gate isn’t enjoyable
Useful information. Thank you for your time! 🎒
Being well dressed you get upgrades on the plane and hotels
👍👍👍🎉🎉🎉🍾🎊⛵️excellent content to share before the holiday season coming !!!, thanks a lot !!!
I love your videos and all my life i had been made fun by people (my SIL special mention) for not having style.
I want to put your words into practice but unfortunately don't have a lot of money.
I am from India. As Asian climate and cultures both are different but i luv to watch your videos
@@softsophisticate I like my heels
Gates often can change these days and you might find yourself hiking to another gate. Light and pastels are not good for flying. Jumpsuits band wide leg pants also get in the way and end up dragging on dirty floors in the airport and plane.I

I’m about to go on a trip, great timing :)
Oh My God Anna loved it ♥️ just needed this video🥺

Would love some new ideas for traveling first class with a small doggie… leaving extreme heat in Miami, having to go directly to a meeting in a record company in New York…any suggestions?
