I first went there when they were non-league. Forest Green Rovers were playing away there and my mate Marcus arranged for us to travel in the FGR Team Coach! Like the away terrace at Exeter City, which I recognised as having previously been at Barnet F.C.'s 'Hive', the scoreboard at Nene Park seemed familiar - it'd previously been at Millwall's 'New Den'. Kettering had a song about R. & D. - to the tune of 'Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds': "Picture a stadium made out of Lego, with plastic supporters who don't even sing. Suddenly, Max Griggs buys Beckham and Shearer, yet still they don't win anything". Up The Gas!
I think what killed off Rushden and Diamonds is they rose too quickly through the league's, then with the stadium, and Griggs walking out, they soon folded
My thoughts exactly and I believe a similar (although less dramatic) fall from grace has befallen Wigan Athletic since Dave Whelan left. Whereas, clubs that rise up the leagues 'organically' (i.e. without 'sugar daddies'), e.g. Luton Town, Brentford, A.F.C. Bournemouth, etc, seem to prosper. Up The Gas!
Lovely little ground, Nene Park; I enjoyed a few visits there. Not in a location you would expect to find a league football club. Sad about its demise. Nightmare getting out of the car park though.

Is that pronounced Earthlingbarah? love the pics of that fresh looking grass
Pretty much that is how it is pronounced.
When I played for Stanwick rovers back in the 70s we used to go for a beer there with les Chambers Keith burt
It would've looked totally different back then.
Went to this ground has a peterborough fan, was an ok stadium.
