It doesn't have to be perfect out the box. It just has to be solid at the very least. Cleary the software was half baked at launch. Many people don't like the idea of paying the Legion Go price tag just for it to be a work in progress. It's like buying a AAA game and having it be barely functional or playable even after a day one patch.
Awesome. I placed every UA-camr that titled their video "Returning my legion go" in the "Don't recommend videos from this channel" category. Update has been delayed with good reason and I now have complete respect for Lenovo.
@okestgamer I think once this update is available in a few days. An AMD drivers update would be the icing on the cake. BTW, if you use "reWASD" does it still work well with your LeGo? My reWASD has been causing stutter lately and is currently unusable.
@okestgamer reWASD for a month or so had been a great fix for the dead zone issue. It's no longer functioning correctly on the LeGo. I've been playing (RPS3) Fight Night Champions and (Steam) UnMetal until the dead zone update drops.
I seen a review and it mentioned the deadzone issue which was a big no no for me. And now seeing this video and how quickly they fixed it, im going to buy one today, it shows they clearly listen to their customers 😊
@@RealMol I want select and start on the top and the Xbox button to be either a long hold on select or start button. I'm hoping for in depth controls like what's on the Ally.
@@okestgamer That's the thing, these inclusions should be obvious for a late comer like Lenovo, but they haven't learned from their predecessors. At least SteamOS and Armory Crate SE weren't outright horrible out the gate, just a suboptimal but okay first attempt.
You might have had a diff experience than me then. My steam deck arrived with a failed OS message. I had to reinstall it from scratch first thing out of the box. My ally seemed to mostly work software wise, but they also had some deadzone issues in certain games.
@@okestgamer For the most part, SteamOS worked, and decently well for a first attempt at a x86 handheld running Linux. There were some serious teething issues, Valve was writing the book at developing an OS specifically for a handheld after all, but it was still better than the Legion Go is now. The Ally...worked okayish. Feature wise, ASUS did pretty well with the button configuration possibilities (especially being able to bind the back buttons as other buttons, or modifier to effectively double what buttons you had, and being able to bind any button as ANY button on an Xbox controller - guide button included-, system action, keyboard input, or even macro. Software itself was a little buggy, and is necessary for controller support because Microsoft refuses to do that themselves. Whereas the Legion Go just, doesn't do that. Prior to this update, the only options for binding the back buttons were as any input off an Xbox 360/One controller EXCEPT the guide button. Mitigating the software side stick issues had to be done in Steam. The software is slow as hell, and I've had to run the Legion at a higher TDP than the Ally to get similar FPS when running the Legion at 800p. If Legion Space is full screen behind another full screen program or game, it copies the inputs from that other program. It's not fun having GOG open in a browser mid game. Similar story with the quick access panel, anything other than touch input gets copied to whatever program was active before opening the panel. Even the "quick" actions of holding the L/R + (button/bumper) is slow as hell, and in the case of adjusting TDP with R+dpad up/down requires pressing both buttons for every step most of the time ON TOP of it being slow as hell. Honestly, the Legion should've had more time in the oven. It's easily the worst of those 3 by a wide margin, largely because the software is just awful. Hardware and and physical design wise, it's mostly good, but that doesn't mean much if the software is horrible.
Diagonals feel weird to me still… it feels like I have to hit a certain sweet spot to actually get diagonals on the top left analogue stick. I notice it the most in Street Fighter x Tekken.
