    I've had mine 110 D300 (Gondwana Stone and black) for 2 years and 40k km... just a wonderful car...and not a single issue with it. I take this any time rather than a Range Rover.

    I’ve had a 110 for about 18 months. It’s a fantastic car, I’m probably in the minority and use mine off road a lot. This is its main advantage in my opinion, as it is truly an off road vehicle. I also had an older 90 at the same time (just sold) and that was obviously just as capable, but it can’t hold a candle to the new 110 for on road manners. Sure it’s not as compact as the older model but it can walk the walk both on and off road.

      Agreed! I think they have absolutely smashed it for on and off road usage! The old defender will always have a place in our hearts but it was time to move on, so glad you are enjoying your new shape💯👍🏻

      Agreed! I think the problem with the discovery (apart from the off centre number plate) is that there is no longer a substantial price difference between the defender and Range Rover, Unless they significantly lower the price then I can’t see the Discovery lasting going forward, Thanks for watching!

      @@CoffeeandCars. I think you meant to say there is no longer a substantial price difference between the Defender and Discovery? The Range Rover is in another price league altogether. For me the D5 is the better car for our family as it is more luxurious and is offered with a lot of standard kit at the moment as it is getting quite old. Of course both vehicles are the same underneath, have the same offroad capabilities and are made in the same factory. We love the Defender external styling but not the interior and couldn't live with the rear door. Great that LR offer both.

    The original One Ten V8 manual was about 1/4 the price of this. Much more fun, halve the weight, best sound and soulful. That was already expensive for working class. How became the people so easily rich nowadays. All became yups and crooks pledging inflation with money for nothing. This is a Discofender, Pretender and Surrender to the real fans. And yes, this manufacturer uses planned obsolescence so after warranty it is almost total loss. Replace all bushings if you are not already fishtailed into a tree, wheel bearings, cardan shafts etc. For instance if the very expensive computers, plugs and wiring are not already demolished from leaking windows, pillars or roofs just replacing air suspension is around 10.000 instead 30 for the earlier air suspension for one corner and you have to use a computer. They also never acknowledged the crankshaft problems as well as all other problems.

Having had multiple Discovery models from 300tdi, TD5, 90s to Disco 5 , Velar & Evoque the Defender is far and away the best of any of them. No Pretender in any way.
      Please can you provide evidence of this planned obselecance after warrnaty expiration by the manufaturer.
      Hold on, I wil save you the response, you cannot.

    • @dennis3779
      @dennis3779 Місяць тому

      @@ft6666 We had 9 models from this manufacturer (and probably more if we were not done with their planned obsolescence and technical or design faults as common breaking glow plugs when trying to replace and loosen them etc.) and still have 2 of them (with some not working things such as EAS and ventilation but a replaced head gasket before 60.000 which was one of the common standard procedures for that type) and I agree 40.000 must be possible without too many problems, leaking, replacing bushings and warning lights etc. The RRS had always a tiny glitch from new when using engine braking in low range as if someone was giving a hard step on the brakes every 8 seconds and only a ball joint replaced under warranty at 30.000. But we kept them a bit longer than you have. It is a Pretender for instance because it looks like it but it is not simple tech anymore and you can not even change oil yourselves and other things without computer. You can not replace and rivet panels yourselves etc. If you replace bushings you have to buy the whole arm etc. I just want a mechanical handbrake etc. If you follow LR Time you know about some of the work you can expect after warranty. If you follow Scotty you know about planned obsolescence.

    • @ft6666
      @ft6666 Місяць тому

      @@dennis3779 There is no simple car tech anymore, its progress.
      Whether we like it or not things move on, and looking at the past through rose tinted glassses is fanciful.
      I recall walking into a Landrover showroom in the late eighties and there were drip trays under the cars.
      They were and never will be that great, but once its in your blood its hard to ween yourself off.
      Great cars if they could keep the oil in, paint on and water out etc.
      As for planned obsalesance, agree that while the manufacturer will build in a date for cesation of production it does not mean that with proper maintenance and upkeep these vehicles cannot run for many hundred of thousand miles.
