Big thanks to sigma-foto.cz for lending me the review unit for this video. Panasonic S9 Review - Good Decisions [ Lumix S9 ] - ua-cam.com/video/jYmM3yidfZg/v-deo.html
@@sandradee4331 yes i am aware this is a full frame lens, on an apsc it would be a 26mm equivalent. But i guess it doesn't make much sense for Sigma to do that
@@aronaldharper543Yes, the whole "no small lenses" argument is greatly exaggerated, even Panasonic's F1.8 primes or 20-60 kit lens are completely fine on the S9.
People don't talk enough about the seamless communication between app and camera. It's a game changer. Also, the crop zoom is bonkers. 40mm prime can zoom in to 140mm. You don't see a horribly degraded image. With a high megapixel camera it's just a wow factor. My 70-200 is getting *gulp* 70-620. Why aren't we talking about this?
@@aronaldharper543 There is a lot of videos about the app. Crop zoom is basically the same thing as clear image zoom which has been available on Sony since 2016, so I don't find it particularly interesting in 2024. IQ degradation is directly proportional to the crop factor.
@aleksandr8809 How can the light gathering be the same if the light of same intensity is being captured on much larger area? M43 would have to capture 4 times as much light per area to match the total light gathering of the full frame, which is defintiely not the case.

The 17mm f4 has been tempting for me, but I think I’ll wait to see the 18-40mm that’s coming.
Great review, as always. Thanks, William!
@@bitronicc1887 Thank you!
if i had not the 18 1.8, this would be a great option. We need those samyang flat primes stat!
Hello, when can we expect a review of the GH7 ? did Panasonic provide you a review unit ? love your videos 👌
Thank you! Unfortunately, I don’t have a review unit, so the review is currently not on the schedule.
I want this for my Nikon ZF😎
Do you find yourself using the handheld pixel shift mode much with this?
I use pixel-shift more for less than 1% of pictures.
Are you sure its fullly westher sealed? Im inder the impression that this entire line only has a gasket at the mount but none through the barrel.
That's what I thought as well. Does this one, 17mm, break from the design?
I am funny enough liking to grab the s9 without the grip better than with it! at least with the 1.8 primes.
What did Sinatra say...... "I'm broke, that's ok."
Wish they made this for fuji...it could be a good alternative to the fuji 18mm f2
This is full frame lens, it will never be released for Fuji APS-C.
fuji 18mm f2 is in fact 27mm equiv.

Waiting for Samyang 24mm F2.8 and 35mm F2.8 to hit L-mount. Then maybe S9 will make sense.
It already does.
The 35 Sigma contemporary is more than doable, as is the 45mm, which is perfect

0:58 f-number has exactly same low light performance on full frame, crop, m4/3 and every other sensor
@@aleksandr8809 Obviously not.
@@TheHybridShooter yes, same f-number will allow same quantity of light no matter what sensor is behind it
@@aleksandr8809 only per area, total amount of light that gets to the sensor is completely different. That is what matters.
