It could be due to a number of reasons, I kept the white balance the same for both cameras and decided to keep the WB fine tune setting at 0 to have more "out of the box" settings for this video. But the lens can affect the colour as well as the ND filter (although if you take a look at the photo comparisons towards the end, they were taken with no ND and there is still quite a colour difference SOOC)
You really need to shift towards magenta out of the box it seems. The green isn't a skin tone issue at all. The yellow however is a skin hue issue. Almost nothing is a skin tone issue.
I've sold A7C II and jumped to S9. I much prefer Panasonic colors, LCD screen and IBIS is just insane. Those 3 things sealed the deal for me although A7C II is also a great camera. Nice comparison.
Thank you for watching! And thanks, I think this is my first ever video I filmed with my hair straight, I just did not want to do my curls this day hahah
Both are nice cameras…thought the S9 video output edged out the A7Cii, though the Sony likely the better hybrid for a photographer simply as it has a small EVF, partial mechanical shutter (?) and has some level of weatherproofing. Choose your needs based on what you do. In US S9 plus lens $1800. A7Cii with-lens $2500..
My S5II often feels big and heavy so I want a smaller one for easy carry. I was excited when I first heard about the S9 but very disappointed when I learned that it doesn't have a hot shoe, only digital shutter and no headphone jack. I wish Panasonic could make a proper grip and add at least mechanical shutter and hot shoe, with a S9II.
A real shame the s9 doesn’t at least have an electronic first curtain - fingers crossed that if they ever make a mk2 that it will have it. The 18-40 looks great on it, and that super wide view is very appealing! Great review!
@@Deebohuncho Not anymore and you simply didn't use latest gen cameras. I had Canon R8, Sony A7C II and now Panasonic S9. For my use case of running kids which is pretty demanding for autofocus all three cameras yield great results with no complaints.
Many thanks for sharing (both of you!!!) always great to see whats available for this style of Camera, I would lean towards the Sony as an "all rounder"; having the best of both worlds, view finder and live view; regardless, two very capable Cameras (or should we say Video!!!); last but not least (and I do hope you dont mind me commenting on this) I had to take "2" when you started the Video as you have a new "hair style" !!! and I think it looks great!!!
My rhetorical question. When will Lumix provide AF for slow motion video above 150 fps? If Lumix finally provides this, I will buy it. The other camera makers provide it. Canon R8 has it 180fps, Sony, and Fuji has it up to 240fps. Slow Motion at 240fps with AF, is great for Wildlife and Street Video short film. I own and use S5ii, G9ii, but I leave them behind for slow motion video. Get with the program Lumix. I like Lumix design and ergonomics, but they leave stuff out I use, leaving me no option but to use Sony, Canon, and Fuji for AF in slow motion.
I'd probably still argue that something like the Sony A7C might still be a tad better for a few reasons over the Panasonic. I'd say the S9 is really for those who don't care about an EVF and need/want the absolutely smallest package but still good IQ. But for those who don't, an A7C might be a better value. The one thing for me that's missing is the EVF, and one thing that stops me from buying an S9 (as I do really want to find a small compact camera for travel as all of my other cameras are larger FF cameras, like the Z8 and the Zf). If the S9 goes on sale at some point for around $1k (without a lens) I might consider it, since I gues san EVF is not exactly critical, but one of "nice to haves" on my list). but for almost $1800 for the lens and camera, I'll probably just wait.
huge pro on the S9 is the real time luts; but on the flip side the sony lens options are actually a huge deal, the L mount options are basically sigma and thats it
Yep, its just a sling bag from Uniqlo! So it doesn't have any padding or anything inside, but my camera was fine traveling like that all through Japan for a few weeks :D
@JuliaTrotti That was so cool! I loved all the views of downtown Sydney. It reminds me a little bit of San Francisco. That waterfront is beautiful! (And oddly, I have a sudden craving for Japanese food...) Do you have good sushi there? :) I would love to see Sony add the nice video features that Panasonic implements on their bodies in software. I feel like if I did a lot of video (maybe this will happen some day...), I would want to use one of the Lumix cameras. But as a stills photographer, and as someone who doesn't want to invest in two completely incompatible lens sets, I definitely prefer Sony. Would you rather have a Lumix that adopts Sony features, or a Sony that adopts Lumix features?

Yup. Standard profile is pretty bad. It could be corrected in camera messing with gamma values. Auto White balance is also never to be trusted on Sony which she is probably using. You just have to know how to set it up. Many reviewers just go all auto everything and kind of give Sony a bad name. For strictly photography the whole color science thing is pretty irrelevant
Yeah Sony leans a bit more towards green in standard picture profile. In the log footage though, it's very easy to adjust this as you can see the colours looks very similar from both cameras. You can also use the white balance fine tune setting to make it more magenta if you like, but for this video I kept the white balance the same for both cameras and thus the fine tune setting at 0 for both for a more "out of the box" setting.
Yes Sony doesn't have this functionality. It means that when you switch from let's say 4k60 to 4k30 on Panasonic it will automatically choose the right shutter speed to meet 180 degree rule whereas on Sony you would need to adjust this manually. Of course custom modes on modern cameras solve this issue as you can save predefined settings separately so not a big deal.
@@MrRafalEn Thank you bro, Panasonic do this in manual modes too? From what i understand when you switch 60FPS, it set shutter 120, when you switch 25FPS, it sets 50. Then you can choose whatever value you want. Actually good idea even it is not a big deal.
