Keeping that one part of the song exclusive to the original NES version and not even bringing it back for Zero Mission is one of the most baffling music decisions Nintendo has ever made
I was surprised the first time I heard it in NEStroid because I had already beat Zero Mission before it. Seriously weird that it wasn't included in that game.
I've got a song coming up for you on April 1st as always, and I *might* be able to squeeze in another song the day before, but I'm not 100% sure on that, so no end card teaser this till April! 🫡
Hey Jonny I just want to say that I’m a huuuuge Mario fan and you have the best game covers ever especially the Mario songs like buoy base galaxy, toads factory and more keep up the good work man. Also may madness is coming up I have a requested song for that and that is cheese land from Mario kart super circuit cause that’s my favorite Mario kart track of all time 😁
That triumphant-sounding bit at 1:20, the part that’s apparently exclusive to the NES version of Metroid, I always felt like that sounded like something out of Kid Icarus… which makes sense, after all, Hirokazu “Hip” Tanaka composed for both of those games.
Can we all stop to appreciate the skill involved in taking a loop that's less than 45 seconds and turning it into a banger? I often wonder how Jonny will do it when these tiny clips come up in the Patreon request stream.
My first time playing Metroid Zero Mission, I was on an adrenaline high escaping the mothership, very low health. Beat the two elite pirates, and just when I thought I was home free, the pilot in the fighter jumped out and killed me. I was like fml.
Before there was It’s Pizza Time! Before there was Collapsing Time Rift. Before there was Hurry Up! There was Metroid. As it All Crumbles Down (Underhero)
Nothing excites me more than more Metroid Metal covers! This is super rad! Thanks for making amazing covers as always, keep being awesome! With that said, the galaxy is now at peace 😎
Heck yeah! My favorite Escape theme in the series! I actually adapted it into Music Tiles in a Mario Maker type Game called LevelHead a few years back, good stuff! Really wish they would use this theme more often in the Metroid Series, instead of just using Ridley's theme or some other generic escape theme (Looking at you, Dread XD) This just has an energy that is so unique, a great combo of urgency and heroic victory! As always you are doing it more than justice, this remix is awesome as heck!
The triumphant bit at 1:18 has always screamed 'Kid Icarus' to me. Brother and sister game indeed! Same composer even. Great track as usual, man. Keep it up!
Epic releases would be: 1. "Danger" (boss battle theme) - Secret of Mana. 2. Battle Mode (full loop) - Mario Kart on SNES. 3. Anything from Shadowrun on SNES. Holding out! 🙏🏆
You know, I once thought about this song getting a cover when I first discovered GaMetal, like, two years ago at this point (and with that I feel old Jesus), but I thought that it was just too short of a loop and that you couldn't really do anything with it. Boy, was I wrong. The guitar here is on point, and the usage of the short melody is done really well here, creating a song that's really fun to hum along too! You nailed this one, Jonny, and I can't wait for April Fool's song (Please be His World please be His World please be Anyways, for requests: 1. Awe of She (Guilty Gear X) 2. Unexpectancy (Pizza Tower) 14. World Tournament Theme (Dragon Ball Fusions) 15. Bust a Move! (Ginga Force)
A true classic. I was pretty excited to see what song you were gonna do when I saw the outline, since I don't play to much of the series, but I gotta say that this goes pretty hard. Good job!
Great song as always. Here's a few suggestions: 1- Final Boss (Fairly Oddparents: Shadow Showdown) 2- Flying Dutchman's Graveyard (SpongeBob Squarepants: Battle for Bikini Bottom) 3- The Downhill Express (Jimmy Neutron: Jet Fusion)
Metroid has a great soundtrack and escape is no different. Still waiting on that full cover of Kraid's Lair which i will be voting for in the upcoming May Madness
Kartikeya komposing for day 431! Kartikeya finally livestreamed again last night! Finally feel less like I've been doing nothing lately. Was trying to stream some of the myriad of Pokemon Rom hacks I got over the panic-demic. Tried one called 'Hyetology' first and the game kept crashing to the point I have put it in my newly appointed 'rom hack jail' which is my old original Nintendo DS travel case. It honestly works quite well for it aesthetically. Then tried 'Mega Power' and this one crashed a few times but once I got my first pokemon, it worked absolutely fine afterwards. Spent 2.5 hours on the DDR mat on it. Though it wasn't all smiles. You remember Luxx? or as I often referred to him by his last name Tallett? Well him and his buddies decided to freaking RAID me during my stream last night and all act none the wiser about it. Maris (one of his 'friends') showing up and acting as if he didn't know that Luxx (whose name had changed to 'timewarptavern' at this point had NOT already contacted me some 6 months ago trying to 'set up business' once again with me but being far more blatant, asking for my physical address this time!
This banging cover might not escape my head for a while. Then again, a cover of Faith Is For The Transient People would probably get stuck there even longer!
Kartikeya finally gets here near debut time on day 430! Kartikeya needs to stream. Tried last night, but set up like 3 different games and all of them had different problems with them. Meaning I couldn't play them properly whether certain inputs not working, or just not having the right controller for them seemingly.
You always deliver on your covers man! Keep it up! I was wondering if I could request "Toxic Waste" from Crash Bandicoot 1? I would love to hear your arrangement of it. Keep rockin' Johnny! 🤘
Keeping that one part of the song exclusive to the original NES version and not even bringing it back for Zero Mission is one of the most baffling music decisions Nintendo has ever made
Zero Mission or Echoes.
Zero Mission's escape doesn't have the triumphant ending because of the fact the game is roughly 2/3rds over by that point.
I was surprised the first time I heard it in NEStroid because I had already beat Zero Mission before it. Seriously weird that it wasn't included in that game.
It was added for the US release and wasn't present in the Famicom version.
I didn't know that, that's an amazing detail
"RUN, B!#$H! RUUUNNNN!"
- Some poor sap trying to escape the death trap that was their base
I've got a song coming up for you on April 1st as always, and I *might* be able to squeeze in another song the day before, but I'm not 100% sure on that, so no end card teaser this till April! 🫡

I can't wait to see what you'll fool us with come the first of April!
Can't wait to laugh at what you'll fool us with!

Still kinda cool to think how Kid Icarus and Metroid used the same engine, as well.
@@rawkfistgamingeven more so when the themes of the games are about ascending and descending
I always knew that Samus had a rad escape theme before Wario, Peppino, and Anton made escape themes cool. 😎
Samus made escape themes cool. The rest are trying to catch up to her.
Yeah, but Peppino has four. Pizza Time, Lap 2, phase 3 vs the fake, and the crumbling tower.
@@AndrewBlechinger What do you mean "phase 3 vs. the fake"?
@@Rubberman202i'm guessing they mean the Fake Peppino chase section, that song's called "Okay Campers, Rise And Shine!"
You know Metroid came out about 37 years before pizza tower right?
Can we all stop to appreciate the skill involved in taking a loop that's less than 45 seconds and turning it into a banger? I often wonder how Jonny will do it when these tiny clips come up in the Patreon request stream.
You haven't compared his rendition 1942 vs the original, have you?
@@mattdarrock666 Not yet, but I'm about to.
I will put this cover on my headphones every time I'm late to go somewhere and I have to run.
I do that with ‘Its Pizza Time’ from Pizza Tower

When you’re about to wrap up a Hell Dive and that one rando calls in extraction too early
always respect someone who does the full song and not just the famicom/zeromission/prime2 neutered version
Everytime a selfdestruct countdown begings, Samus thinks to herself "Oh screw (attack) you Mother Brain..."
It's time to TIME BOMB SET: GET OUT FAST
Every time I hear an arrangement of this track, I have to pray the part of the track added in the NES version is in, did not disappoint!

Get to the Extraction Zone!

Es-ca-pé. It’s funny, it’s spelled just like the word escape.
This brought back so many memories from Metroid: Zero Mission! Thank you for doing this! I always love your Metroid remixes, Jonny!
The triumphant bit at 1:18 has always screamed 'Kid Icarus' to me. Brother and sister game indeed! Same composer even.
Great track as usual, man. Keep it up!
I first heard this tune in Prime 2 Echoes against Dark Samus.
I honestly think that version is the best official version released.
@@KlyosXA That truly makes you feel a sense of urgency
Easily the best one! The Prime games have incredible music!
That gauntlet of Final Boss>>Escape sequence >>Boss During Escape Sequence is one of the meanest tricks Nintendo's ever pulled 😂
I know and I kinda like it for that reason!
Intense! Listening to this feels every much like playing through trying to escape
I really want to know where all these villains get their planet-busting bombs.
you love to hear it since this song hardly every gets covered or remixed props to jonny for doing it so freaking well!
For a while I had the Metroid Prime 2 version of this song set as my alarm to wake me up. You can probably imagine how well that worked.

1. "Danger" (boss battle theme) - Secret of Mana.
2. Battle Mode (full loop) - Mario Kart on SNES.

I'm really glad you included that section that seems to be exclusive to the original NES version. This is great! Thanks for putting this together.
I like to think that this is what inspired the mechanics of Wario Land 4.
Same
And it's the same engine as Fusion.
@@ikagura I’m willing to bet, someone somewhere made a joke about WL4’s “Hurry Up!” Playing during a Metroid Escape sequence.
Wario and Metroid are linked in multiple ways. Heck, Metroid Fusion and Metroid: Zero Mission both used Wario Land 4's engine, I believe.
Heh, threw me for a loop seeing Samus escape so early from the NES footage before the transition to the legendary Zero Mission.
Would’ve been really fun if you included the blaring alarms of the Metroid Prime 2/Final Dark Samus version
I wish the chorus from MP2 could have been in there but it's still a great cover!
