Man I love watching your videos... The fact that you eat most everything you harvest is awesome... Learn a lot of new cooking techniques... thanks for the knowledge...
Pan grilled... This works with chicken, shrimp or fish. Mix 25% soy sauce 25% Worcestershire sauce 50% melted butter or margarine Dip fish into mixture. Place fish into hot pan or on hot griddle. Sprinkle Greek seasoning onto fish. Add more of the mixture to fish when you turn it and add more Greek seasoning after turning. Cook till done. Serve with cocktail, Tarter sauce or drawn butter. Enjoy.
Not everyone has a channel that is chill and positive. Thanks for the great content brother. My favorite channel by far, everyone else just gets obnoxious with a camera.
slow and low smoke with cherry wood is what i like to do......... or make 1 1/2" thick medallions make small slit in side and place a jalapeno slices in there and maybe a little mint, than low grill heat around 200 to 225 and baste with a garlic lemon butter often till tender, than serve with cinnamon grits and fried cast iron skillet corn
I love gar nuggets and also think they are comparable to alligator. I fry them up with a little salt and pepper until they are dark crispy, and golden on the outside.
Honestly, Mullet, The best way I've ever had gar is to batter it and have it the same way you eat catfish. Gar meat is really clean. They are not the garbage fish that people make them out to be. Cajun pan fried or deep fried with corn meal is what I would recommend. Also, Gar is pared with mustard greens and cornbread. Thank you for showing the world that there is more than beef chicken and pork. I love your content. Keep up the awesome work.
Like the video. Crazy thing, I just kept my 1st gar. Now I know how to cook it. Lol. Heard a lot of people say it's some good eating. Fixing to find out. Thanks for the video.
And here I thought only Mexicans eat gar and have you ever tried eating bowfin(mudfish) good eating fish keep fish alive until cleaning that way meat doesn't get mushy and fry away
Found your channel from lfg's and you catch and cooks are awesome. I love fried fish, but its cool to see you improvise recipes with species I grew up catching.
When you get a big gar, take a slab of back strap and smoke it. You can eat it like that, but what I have seen Southern people do is to flake up the smoked meat and make them into gar balls. Watch " Swamp People" they have a great recipe for it.
Hey I have eaten them both for years. I just cut into steaks like any other back strap. Use the same fry coating you do for catfish or perch and peanut oil.
I chunk them up just like catfish. A bag of franks red hot and shake and a bag of breadcrumbs shake and dump in the fryer. My new thing is the air fryer and it works great. Plus my wife likes using it so she cooks it.
If you uploaded a video everyday or every other day you will most definitely be the best UA-cam channel out hands down I seen u on lfg videos before you even had a UA-cam channel. So super stoked u got one keep them videos coming
Season the meet in salt water for a day but if ur going to go ahead and cook let it soak in salt water for a couple hours then mix flower and ole bay seasoning together shake it and mix it good then throw ur gar nuggets in it mix it good then throw it in the fryer or pan fry it and you’ll have the best gar nuggets you can ever imagine
I used to fillet them just like that and fry em. Make some gar nuggets. Till someone recomended i only gut em, cut the head and tail off, season, butter and grill it in the shell. Amazing taste. Completely different
You did a good job cutting that gar. I've seen guys get cut from the scales. Gar is good eats. Try silver dollar fried gar. With Texas Pete and without.
Man you should come down to south Louisiana one year in July - August not sure which but there’s a gar fish rodeo for 1 weekend it’s pretty cool plus they cook all the gar up afterwards for everyone
Great video Mullet Man as always ! I read where the are going to start protecting Alligator gar in Texas the big mature ones anyway . Also the Texas parks and wildlife are proposing that they are going to ban nighttime bow fishing for them the article stated that at the rate they are fished the large gar will disappear soon...
Man what I do is soak in ice water after trimming. Then cut into 2 inch pieces. Then toss them into batter of choice. Fry them and then toss them in buffalo wing sauce. Serve them in poboy sandwiches, with lettuce, tomatoes, avocados and ranch dressing. Good stuff.
Good batter recipe. Season your fish. Combine 1 cup of rice flower to 1/2 cup of ice cold club soda. Save dry rice flower for double dredge. Heres the order fish in dry rice flower then into the seasoned club soda/rice mixture then into oil thats at 350 degrees. Brown then take off.
GOOD RECIPE!!!!!!! Get a 2/4 and season your back strap with garlic salt and lemon pepper and butter... then rap the fish in aluminum foil and place it back on the board... cook the gar on the board at 350 for 30 minutes and then take it out and un rival the gar from the foil... next throw the gar away and eat the board
I’d love for you to come up here to northern va and I’ll take you snakehead fishing and do a catch clean and cook on them! Best tasting fish you’ll ever have!
I just went bow fishing yesterday and cooked up some needle nose and it did have a tuff and chewy texture but as for taste I would definitely eat it again
Cut em in chunks, throw some Lousiana breading mix. Deep fry. Get yourself some corn tortillas and place it in. Top it with lime, avocado and pico de gallo. Thank me later.
U should go fish at this lake in Maine, my parents bought a cabin up there, on Pocomoonshine Lake awesome bass fishing, and we could do a lot of catch and cooks with white perch!
Nice call Uncle Elroy. He pulls this whole thing off just fine. Whatever else is said about this dude, he has that "it" factor. He has the innate ability to keep one's attention.
I caught a 54" longnose gar in Falls of the Nuese River, caught on my Bluefish rig. Took it home, cut it into steaks, breaded and fried it. Just like cod. Mild, very tasty. Edit: No bones, besides ribs, vertical backbones and fin bones.
Best way to mush it up is a meat grinder then i mix all my onions and what ever else you need to put in it and put some instant box mashed potatoes in it just the powder and mix all together and make pattys and then deep fry them untile golden brown
Hey mullet man love your videos. Catch clean and cooks are awesome. Your cook part you should have a different kind of camera than a fish eye. Since cooking is a big part of your episodes. Keep up the kick ass videos!
What's up bro man I love all your videos I would love to see you catch and cook crab I haven't seen a video yet of that unless I missed it thanks for sharing I've shared it with everyone of my friends God bless you
Gut the gar, cut off head and tail, fill the body with chunks of butter and whatever seasonings you like and toss it on the grill till it looks done the meat will be firm like a lobster and it will shred and peel out of the scales/bones, can eat plain or makes really good tacos.
I like to treat the gar like I do carp. Smoke them until they fall off the main bones and then cut into chunks and can them up with some white wine, salt, thai chili, some parsley, and tarragon. 15lbs pressure for an hour and once they cool down, hide them for at least 3 months before opening one. Better after 6 months cure. Even the fine bones of the carp are edible, super soft. Make into a fish salad for sandwiches like you would tuna. Never touch the tuna ever again!
And the oil wasn't hot enough when you dropped them in. Many reasons you want the sizzle when deep-frying anything. Reason one it won't saturate your food.
Mayonnaise, little bit of sweet pickle relish, dash of onion powder, and lemon juice for a simple and delish tarter sauce. Btw glad the googans introduced me to your channel it’s really good 👍
I wonder what the gar would taste like if you were to o smoke it with a mixture of cherry and hickory wood chips and Gob bless and keep up the GREAT videos
Grind the meat up in a grinder with boiled potatoes, garlic and green onions then mix it all together and make patties out of the meat. Eat them while they are hot.
When we were kids we could fly fish with a 10’ piece of nylon string and frazzle it up and let the fat bite it and full up in it and pull him in now I’m gonna go try to get one with a bow😂
When I was a kid we used to go to a lake in Cleveland Texas and they would have what they call a gar Rodeo we would catch gar and then beat them with a baseball bat and knock the meat loose from the carcass and then make gar patties they were awesome but all of this may not have happened if we ran out of beer
I cubed mine & soak it in buttermilk & a little LA. Hot sauce or Franks like I do w/ most of my fish) Then I use reg ole seasoned fish fry & fry that shit up. I’ve eaten both & I really didn’t notice a difference. Both have chicken or Rattlesnake type meat. If that makes sense. Minus the bones 🤷♂️
Nice catch, one key tip I want to share with you, try putting a damp cloth under your chopping board to stop it from sliding around.
Man I love watching your videos... The fact that you eat most everything you harvest is awesome... Learn a lot of new cooking techniques... thanks for the knowledge...
Pan grilled...
This works with chicken, shrimp or fish.
Mix
25% soy sauce
25% Worcestershire sauce
50% melted butter or margarine
Dip fish into mixture.
Place fish into hot pan or on hot griddle.
Sprinkle Greek seasoning onto fish.
Add more of the mixture to fish when you turn it and add more Greek seasoning after turning.
Cook till done.
Serve with cocktail, Tarter sauce or drawn butter.
Enjoy.

I love gar nuggets and also think they are comparable to alligator. I fry them up with a little salt and pepper until they are dark crispy, and golden on the outside.
Cut it in nuggets, cover in buffalo sauce, use regular flour, and fry
Flour
Zulfikran Zulmos Use 🌼
Yum thats how I do fresh water drum but I use chicken fry not flour!

Thank you sir!!
Mullet Man, you sure are living such a fun life.
Boil in 7-up then dip it in melted butter where I’m from we call it poor mans lobster!
I know this is old, but hopefully you check this reply. How long do you boil the gar in 7-up?
realfreshfood usually only takes 10 to 12 minutes
@@kevinbarton1144 Is this straight 7-up, or add water as well? How much? I have this fish and I wanted to try it tonight. TIA
realfreshfood I just use straight 7up
Let me know how it turned out
Fish Fritters...gar ball,, lol. Sounds Great either way! I just found your channel and instantly addicted! I love trying new meats!
Hell ya brother. Mullet showing he's got some golf skills👍🏼
Like the video. Crazy thing, I just kept my 1st gar. Now I know how to cook it. Lol. Heard a lot of people say it's some good eating. Fixing to find out. Thanks for the video.
Eat good!!
And here I thought only Mexicans eat gar and have you ever tried eating bowfin(mudfish) good eating fish keep fish alive until cleaning that way meat doesn't get mushy and fry away
You're one of those easy going young dudes. I like your videos man
Found your channel from lfg's and you catch and cooks are awesome. I love fried fish, but its cool to see you improvise recipes with species I grew up catching.

The best way to cook gar is the merinade in Italian dressing for 2hrs in the fridge. Drain. Fry in butter and a dash of lemon juice.
Hey I have eaten them both for years. I just cut into steaks like any other back strap. Use the same fry coating you do for catfish or perch and peanut oil.
😂😂 "He's leash trained pretty well"
David Raful I was dying bro when he said that.
🤣
I chunk them up just like catfish. A bag of franks red hot and shake and a bag of breadcrumbs shake and dump in the fryer. My new thing is the air fryer and it works great. Plus my wife likes using it so she cooks it.
He don’t listen very well
Miles: I know 😂 💀
If you uploaded a video everyday or every other day you will most definitely be the best UA-cam channel out hands down I seen u on lfg videos before you even had a UA-cam channel. So super stoked u got one keep them videos coming
Thank you!
Put it in foil with some lemon juice and butter and your favorite seasoning it’s really good
bet it’d be awesome with a cajun seasoning sprinkled on top soon as it comes out the grease.
One thing you can do for making patties and wanting it mushy. While it is in the bag, beat it up with a small pan or bat type object.
I steam mine with Old Bay and a little lemon juice, then dip in melted butter. I catch them with nylon rope lures.
Ketchup should be its own food group! Great Vid!

I like using frayed rope on a fly rod to catch these it's lots of fun
You did a good job cutting that gar. I've seen guys get cut from the scales. Gar is good eats. Try silver dollar fried gar. With Texas Pete and without.
Great video man, u making my quarantine time better
Man you should come down to south Louisiana one year in July - August not sure which but there’s a gar fish rodeo for 1 weekend it’s pretty cool plus they cook all the gar up afterwards for everyone

I run trotlines and they are not anywhere close to going bye bye. Bait stealers
We use meat grinder and make patties with other stuff in it. Then make a gravy and simmer patties in gravy. Turns out awesome
Nice vid. I needed that info on cleanin' Gar. Thanx.
Good stuff.
😂😂😂😂 he said ( what yall think about my new pet ) 😂😂😂😂

😂😂😂
Hey mullet man. You should put a damp towel underneath your cutting board to keep it from sliding 👍
Try a chop mode on a food processor for breaking down the meat for the fish patties...
Did it taste like gator? I don’t have gars where i live
Cut em in chunks, throw some Lousiana breading mix. Deep fry. Get yourself some corn tortillas and place it in. Top it with lime, avocado and pico de gallo. Thank me later.
You need someone from Louisiana to show you how to really clean and cook em but 100 for tryin than throwing it away
Gar is my favorite fish ever. I've had almost every fish you could think of but there is nothing to compare it to. Its just good, flaky white meat
to me gar is barely a fish
Here in Kentucky they smoke gar and its really good
U should go fish at this lake in Maine, my parents bought a cabin up there, on Pocomoonshine Lake awesome bass fishing, and we could do a lot of catch and cooks with white perch!
Only Mullet Man can be wearing shorty shorts, tennis shoes carrying a bow fishing rig then walk right up to a fish and pick it up
Nice call Uncle Elroy. He pulls this whole thing off just fine. Whatever else is said about this dude, he has that "it" factor. He has the innate ability to keep one's attention.
@@quill1260 Ill agree, he does have the "it" factor. The ability for him to be a complete all around package keeps me watching for sure.
If you soak the meat in water and change water out few times for couple days you can make any meat good
I cut alligator gar into chunks and fry it in cornmeal batter just like I do catfish.
Hell of ah episode gar is bomb💣💣
My boy got the miracle blade 3 knife set!
I caught a 54" longnose gar in Falls of the Nuese River, caught on my Bluefish rig. Took it home, cut it into steaks, breaded and fried it. Just like cod. Mild, very tasty.
Edit: No bones, besides ribs, vertical backbones and fin bones.
So this is my first ever mullet man video I saw u on outlaws channel ur awesome
I grilled some gator gar with a bunch of butter and lemon. It was good but the colder it got the meat got chalky. It was weird!
Try it with honey drizzled on top not to much but to get that taste it’s amazing
Fry with zatarians fish batter, best way to do it hands down
Dad jump out of his skin when the cell phone drop behind the trash can lol😂😂😂😂😂
Best way to mush it up is a meat grinder then i mix all my onions and what ever else you need to put in it and put some instant box mashed potatoes in it just the powder and mix all together and make pattys and then deep fry them untile golden brown
Those finger things are on the bow string are nice I bet. What are they called?
That would make awesome fish tacos 🌮
Mix in instant mashed potatoes and onions and your choice of seasoning and fry. So good
Hey mullet man love your videos. Catch clean and cooks are awesome. Your cook part you should have a different kind of camera than a fish eye. Since cooking is a big part of your episodes. Keep up the kick ass videos!
Lets see a catch clean and cook over the campfire soon !
Will do
Just subscribed! Well put together! 👍
You cant do that. The guts are toxic. You can only eat the back
Dang I never thought about eating gar before. But I sure love to catch them. Nice catch! Is cool you enjoy what you do!
cut the gar into small nuggets and use some lemon pepper batter. fry them and they are delicious
He’s leash trained!!!🤣🤣🤣
I like to treat the gar like I do carp. Smoke them until they fall off the main bones and then cut into chunks and can them up with some white wine, salt, thai chili, some parsley, and tarragon. 15lbs pressure for an hour and once they cool down, hide them for at least 3 months before opening one. Better after 6 months cure. Even the fine bones of the carp are edible, super soft. Make into a fish salad for sandwiches like you would tuna. Never touch the tuna ever again!
Ik this is a few months old but you should try mustard or franks as a marinade
Try a wet paper towel or wet towel under your cutting board, keeps it from not moving when ur cutting stuff up.
Great video, living the good life. Eat good!!
And the oil wasn't hot enough when you dropped them in. Many reasons you want the sizzle when deep-frying anything. Reason one it won't saturate your food.
Yo Mullet, put a dish towel under your plastic cutting boards when on granite kitchen surfaces to keep it from skidding bro.
Gar is great just cut it into chunk's season it cornmeal fry it up.
and the silver skin gets soft.
Mayonnaise, little bit of sweet pickle relish, dash of onion powder, and lemon juice for a simple and delish tarter sauce. Btw glad the googans introduced me to your channel it’s really good 👍
Try 50-50 dill and sweet as well as a bit of garlic powder. It gives it a nice little pop
How long did it take u to grow your hair
I wonder what the gar would taste like if you were to o smoke it with a mixture of cherry and hickory wood chips and Gob bless and keep up the GREAT videos
I heard smoked gar balls are the truth. Not gar testies lol but fish formed into balls lol
I heard that native Americans used gar scales for arrow heads. Don't know how true it is. Great vid as always!
I believe it. The Coushata tribe in Louisiana have a gar fish as their symbol.
Pressure cook it for 90 min with a little oil in a pint jar then add onions and green peppers then make yur Patty's for frying
Sounds good!!
Grind the meat up in a grinder with boiled potatoes, garlic and green onions then mix it all together and make patties out of the meat. Eat them while they are hot.
Gar balls ...
Ground up the meat
One egg or two
Green onion
A dash of buttermilk
Roll into balls (1.5-2 inch )
Roll in flour
Fry
Delicious
Louisiana hell yeah
Looked like good eats. Have to give it a try someday
When we were kids we could fly fish with a 10’ piece of nylon string and frazzle it up and let the fat bite it and full up in it and pull him in now I’m gonna go try to get one with a bow😂
Looks like rock fish from up here. M m mmm tastey!
Lmaooooo!!! This dude is using the Ron Popeal Miracle Blade cleaver. Not trolling, I had 2 sets for when one wore out lol
stephen meyer every body in my family had two sets as well lol
We float and walk creeks like that with little three foot spears on sling shot rubber bands and shoot lots of fish just diving with the fish
Next time dice up jalapenos mix that and shredded cheese with meat. But mix bread crumbs with meat then cover with the corn mill and fry. It's amazing
What would I use to catch gar of I didn't have a fishing bow
cut bait
Every time i see his mullet i wanna holler YEEE YEE
When I was a kid we used to go to a lake in Cleveland Texas and they would have what they call a gar Rodeo we would catch gar and then beat them with a baseball bat and knock the meat loose from the carcass and then make gar patties they were awesome but all of this may not have happened if we ran out of beer
That must have been lake Livingston
I cubed mine & soak it in buttermilk & a little LA. Hot sauce or Franks like I do w/ most of my fish) Then I use reg ole seasoned fish fry & fry that shit up. I’ve eaten both & I really didn’t notice a difference. Both have chicken or Rattlesnake type meat. If that makes sense. Minus the bones 🤷♂️
the oil isn’t hot enough if when you put them in the oil doesn’t crackle and pop. It cause the breading to come off and will be soggy.
Good eating size needle nose gar, you should try to do a bowfishing video out of a boat for big gars👍
4:40 what breed of dog is that. He seems to mind pretty well
I got friends in kansas who put gar on the smoker, they claim it's good. If you haven't done it you could give it a try.
