If you're around Waco anytime soon, go to Woodway and go to Park 2. You'll go all the way down the road-lake will be up left and the path you'll walk is up right. You can't take the car back there, past a big yellow gate, that's your entry point. If you don't see a kid's play area to the left by the lake, you're in the wrong park number. Walk on the path about 1/8 of a mile and you'll come across a bridge-fish off of that for some tankeronies

When we catfish it is for BIG flatheads and blues. MY PB flathead is now 47 pounds caught on 10 pound test. We use creek chubs that are 10" long, almost as big as the catfish they were keeping LOL always get some 5-6 pounders for eating...

You guys had a great day of fun and fishing. That man that you gave that fish to was grateful. We have done that before. You guys had a great meal and the boys are eating well.
One of the spots I fished was below a blown out dam(ice jam took it out when I was 3). Big walleyes and pike stacked up below it, along with big cats and monster carp. We usually chucked the carp in the weeds to die but one day this Hmong family was down there fishing so we went a little bit downstream to not tangle lines. I caught a 10 pound carp and was about to toss it in the weeds when the dad ran down and asked if he could have it! They took every carp we caught that day, close to 20 of them(one of the downsides of that spot, carp city) from 2 pounds to a 25 pounder! I kept a nice 8 pound pike and 3 walleyes around 4 pounds.
The Hmong dad asked why I was keeping that thing full of teeth... he didn't know how to clean one. I showed him how to filet one out, pointed out the strip of Y bones to look out for when eating. He was amazed at the nice strips of meat that came off it. Same for the walleyes, he didn't know how to clean one... he was scaling them and eating them skin on(blech!) and pike skin is downright nasty tasting.

I like to use a big bobber on one pole when I'm fishing on a bridge to let it float down a little farther down the river.

keep filets wet. season them then dust lightly with flour dip in buttermilk then into cornmeal, then deep fry.

It has never been a thing down here. I have broke the gill on thousands of salmon but never on a catfish

I see everyone catching catfish but me I tried all night last night with a baby bluegill night crawlers in a state pond that sign said catfish are catch and release only I get skunked 😢 It's like ole wise Indian chief says fish no bite on a bright moon light
