    Hi JH. Hope your feeling better. I'm a newbie to channel lock. Took CL to course last Saturday (just after watching your youtube videos) and used it off all tees. Initially, I hit several shots way left (where I was aiming my shoulders). For me, I found I had to place the club face some 40 degrees right of target line (where my shoulders were facing) and then make sure I rotated my forearms over hard to bring ball back on target . Over the whole day, I was quite impressed, shot 89 with 42 (20 stableford points) on the longer back nine (incl'g 2 birdies) off h/cap 17. Looking forward to experimenting further. Thanks, Peter Mason (Melbourne)

      Hi Peter,
      If you bring up this webpage.. ua-cam.com/channels/pzyGY9jRjunNcNp1-AX0rg.htmlvideos its all the JH Practice tee videos.. there are hundreds of videos.. if you scroll down a ways you will pickup on Channel Lock videos .. there are like over a 100 videos.. you can look at the titles to get some indication about what they are specifically relating to .. some of the videos are more simplistic in their expolsanation of the bacics of the CL swing mechanics .. but I am sure there is something in some of the videos that will help you ..
      I am feeling better .. and I hope to be back on the JH practice tee end of next week with a bit of luck.
      cheers JH

    Excellent clarification into the aiming of Channel Lock
    The push shot is the worst shot in Channel Lock but as you addressed it here that shouldn’t be a problem anymore
    And that’s no porky-pie ether

    Hi JH, I finally got out to play golf using the fold and hammer swing. I hit the ball very good and
    shot 1 over after 9 but had to quit. Back pain started up. Since I played so well since you introduced
    CL and I played so well with an injured lead leg and I put 70% of my weight on my trail leg.
    I'm going to see if I can play with even weight on both legs and see what happens.
    Thanks for all of your advice JH.

      I think we all have to apply modifications to specific swing processess relative to being able to cater for any body issues we invariably will have.. its all about what 'your' body can apply without any undue pain or discomfort etc.. I do it all the time when I have a physical issue pop up on occasions.

    Great job as always JH. I think I have been closed to much at address and causing pull hooks. I'll give this a try. Thanks for all you do 👍

    • @1atomicgolf
      @1atomicgolf  3 роки тому +1

      Hi Christopher,
      Actually you cant hit a 'pull' direction shot with the baseline geometry of CL, because the shoulder girdle is closed the the target line at impact , to hit a pull.. or pull/hook . the shoulder girdle alignment must be open at impact.
      You can have an open stance/footline at impact and you wont hit 'pulls/drags .. that is because the shoulder girdle alignment is the only thing that directs the path into the ball at impact, an open 'stance' .. and closed shoulders will still hit a push starting direction shot .
      So just check you are not sneaking your shoulders 'open' at impact.
      cheers JH

    Thanks JH. This helps after hitting a drive a fairway over 110 yards right yesterday :). For some reason driver shots are hitting foul balls to first base grandstands but no foul balls with irons. :)

      Hi Brian,
      Once you get the base geometry of the swing sorted out for your particular physicality you will get rid of the extremes of swing path attack angles.. it just takes some time to work out what will work with your specific biomechanics.

    Good morning JH, I hope that your health is back at 100%🤗! Do you have a “front view video” of the various channel lock ball positions for the driver, hybrids, and the 3-wood?

    • @1atomicgolf
      @1atomicgolf  2 роки тому

      Hi Glenn,
      This video ua-cam.com/video/WOfmUvVT11E/v-deo.html may help you with achieving the 'same' ball position for 'all' clubs.. the intention should always be to play the ball from the 'same' position with all clubs .. and if you adopt the basic body geometry I espouse in the early part of this video .. you should fall into the same relative ball position with all clubs .
      It will take a few practice shots to get confident with the longer clubs with the back foot ball position .. but you will get it if you stick with the baseline geometry of the overall swing setup .
      cheers JH

    I gotta say, didn’t expect this to work at all and it really did. Felt easy, pretty natural, and I struck the ball very well. Best part was for my woods and driver, no more slice. Straight, or a slight fade/draw. Couldn’t believe playing it off my back foot would work so well

    • @1atomicgolf
      @1atomicgolf  3 роки тому

      HI DV,
      The mechanics of the swing will always create a specific consistent result... the back foot ball position and closed shoulders at impact can really only produce a slight ' push draw'.. or if the clubface is not closed up somewhat at impact you will just get a dead straight push, which never really is a destructive type of a shot.
      The swing process is totally opposite to traditional ball position at impact... but it is really the only swing process that you cant come over the shot at impact. glad you got a good result with the swing.
      cheers JH

      @@1atomicgolf well I’m very happy I stumbled across your channel. Finally I can hit driver on most holes and not be as worried. Took a 240 yard w/slice to a 280 yard fairway or first cut. Complete game changer to be hitting a 7 or 8 in as opposed to a 5

      @@DarthVader-ry2hg That is a game-changer being able to pick up 40 yards ..and.. hit fairways...

      Hi Killian,
      I really think it's a good method for people who struggle with inconsistency of starting direction of shots.
      It takes a bit of time to reprogram the brain for the discipline required for the closed shoulder line at impact etc.. but once you do mentally program the process.. it's so much easier to repeat when you go to practice .. or play.. glad it resonated with you.

    JH, a great video. The old KISS method!

    • @1atomicgolf
      @1atomicgolf  3 роки тому

      Hi Larry,
      Channel Lock for people that have played a conventional forward ball position all their golfing lives I can understand having difficulty with transitioning to such a different ball positioning at address.. and the body 'feeling' alignment difference in aiming..
      The natural reaction is that of over emphasising the body alignment in order to get comfortable with the extreme back in stance ball positioning..
      I had the same issues when I went to the CL geometry for setup..when you come to grips in the thinking of the attack angle in to out only needing to be around 8 degs or so .. and not 30 degs.. that is when the swing becomes body flow compatible ..
      You can'... 'think' ... of a significant amount of in to out settng up .. which I actually do .. but its should only be 'thinking' .. not reality structured ..

      Because my general swing mechanics include a deliberate in to out attack path at impact my contact is very level hence I tend to sweep the ball rather than hit down on the ball .

    • @1atomicgolf
      @1atomicgolf  3 роки тому +1

      Hi Steve,
      I have tried 'every' swing I think at one time or another..
      I did some stuff with Blake's swing in the very early part of 1990.... the swing actually is great for hitting like 60-yard pitches and alike because you are 'drag/pressuring' the clubhead through impact..
      I found the action was to 'manipulated' in the full swing and that you couldn't get natural arc rotation post-impact .. but it was fun to explore ..
      cheers JH

    • @1atomicgolf
      @1atomicgolf  2 роки тому

      Hi Donald,
      The difference between Channel Lock .. and Yogi Lock.. is just the addition of the lag loading of the clubhead in the backswing as Yogi does.. and the hitting up deliberately at impact .. as Yogi does.. all the other mechanics are the same as std Channel Lock..
      cheers JH

Much appreciate you helping all the game of golf. Thanks

    • @1atomicgolf
      @1atomicgolf  2 роки тому

      Hi Donald,
      The lag I refer to is in the 'backswing'.. imagine at address you have a brick behind you clubhead at address and you start the handle of the club away in the backswing.. what would happen is the clubhead would remain stationary.. and the handle would advance itself away from the clubhead that couldn't go anywhere.
      That is a mental understanding of the need to get the handle moving first in the backswing and get it to lead the clubhead as long as it can in the backswing.. that explanation is not what will happen in the backswing to that degree.. but the 'intention' should be that it 'will'.
      This video ua-cam.com/video/S16-AWa5zgQ/v-deo.html has some explanation of the 'backswing' lag process.

    JH, do you rotate your body in basmckswing?

    • @1atomicgolf
      @1atomicgolf  3 роки тому +1

      I do try to rotate my upper body in my backswing.. I don't have a great amount of shoulder rotation in my swing these days because of age etc, and I have always tried to create more torque in my swing by not having a significant length backswing.
      But for people who 'can' move their bodies easily and get a big rotational turn... they should do it because it just gets the clubhead scribing a bigger swing arc which normally equates to more clubhead speed .. which normally equates to more distance.
      However, if you can make a significant length backswing you have to support it with the lower body ... a big 'swaying' backswing is not as effective as a shorter supported backswing.
