I wasn't demoted; I was underpromoted!
The truth hurts
Nein nein nein
22:35 the “*whispers* never play f3” is amazing.
On your first example from bullet, I like how it would still be mate even without the dark square bishop. It's just mate in 2. f8=N Kh8 Rh7#
I would have guessed the 50-move rule for the least common
same. Also underpromotion doesnt even seem to be a rule to me, promoting to whatever piece you want is the rule.
I have even heard a worse version of what he tells about upside down rook. At a blitz tournament a player didn't correct it immediately to rook but waited till it moved diagonally and then claimed for illegal move.
You have been promoted to unemployment
Much better work-life balance. Thanks boss, don't mind if I do
@@davidr2421 AUTO-REPLY: You have been moted. $0.99/mo to unlock PRO
Promoted to customer.
24:57 "Bishop and knight vs king is not hard for these guys"
...Right Nakamura? Right?
Nakamuras opponent was playing the best defense when Hikaru had under 60 seconds, which makes it hard, if the opponent goes to the edge of the board its ez, hikarus opponent was staying in the middle of the board
31:25 "You're not gonna lose to king. Well maybe you would..." Harsh!
Not getting the Pulp Fiction reference hurt
12:07 Ben Finegold on: "Feeling like you are surrounded by idiots..."
Oh These goldon days
is there ever a reason to promote to a bishop?
Stalemate reasons
@@roach6992 but in a way that would be necessary, or superior to promoting a rook?
To give an example, there's this position:
White: king on d3, knight on c1, pawn on c7
Black: king on a1, rook on b8
White's only winning move is cxb8=B! Promoting to a rook or queen would stalemate, while promoting to a knight leaves you with two knights, which can't force checkmate.
@@zanti4132 thanks!
Nakamura wouldn't have lost if he'd underpromoted to a bishop. Pity there wasn't one handy.
