I used to run a vocational program. If your local high school has one go ask them. The kids will figure the plans and BOM. They will have materials delivered and put it up for very cheap. Mine did a 25X25 workshop at my house on a slab. It was half of what I could have paid someone to build, and actually cheaper on materials because they bought them on a school account and can’t be charged tax.
We were taught to believe that mass production made things cheaper. But with those prices, you're better off building it yourself. It'll be the size you need at a considerably lower cost.
During the extremely mild February in northern Wisconsin, I built a 12x16 gambrel style shed with a large loft, rugged 12 foot bench, ALL electrical, roll-up 7 foot wide door, pin style footings in the corners for a total of $3500. Went on the TuffShed website and priced out the same configuration... total came to $10k. In full disclosure, I also purchased new pneumatic framing nailer, roofing nailer and full sized jack hammer, all NOT included in the $3500 cost. I need a jack hammer and the nailers for another project.
I just ordered materials for a 12x16 with osb and lap siding. Spent 3.1k and then ~250 on consumables. Only thing left to buy is paint. Just in case someone wanted some current ballpark pricing.
Figured my options got an 8x12 to convert to a chicken coop spent less than that before anyone builds check shed places for used repo buildings !! Yeah could have saved a few bucks trying to build one but for the connivence is just worth it we all order take out sometimes instead of cooking that pizza
That's crazy cuz I just built one last year for less than 1500 in material😂. One man, one day, one truck load 🤷. I guess if you factor in labor and paying for somebody's skill, it's in the ball park but materials alone can be less than a thousand depending on dimensions and hardware.
@robshank1066 the amish guy that built mine, his most expensive shed is a 14x40 for $6660. I'm also going through the amish for lumber to build a 10x12 deck and the lumber through them is roughly $290-300
Build, better quality for same price or cheaper. I used 2x6 for my floor joist, while a lot of the smaller shed use 2x4. Cost a little more, but at least the floor won't sag when it's time to resell in the future.

These used to be 2000 grand or less (built for you on site) before the pandemic. 3,185 is too much for this size. This is in CA btw (everything cost more)
Whenever I browse for a pre-built shed, and then take a look at the price, I can’t help but wonder “can I do it myself for a whole lot less?” I find myself being right most of the time after enough research.
My Dad just got a 12x20 amish built shed with dutch roof and smart siding for 7k. Not bad at all if you ask me considering he didnt have to lift a finger except running power to it. If you build it then you also have to paint it. Painting sucks.

Tough to compare. Tuff Sheds have 2X6 steel foundation frame and joists, much stronger. Plus no pad or risers needed to prevent mold. Just have level dirt and save on cement pad or piers.
If time was money, youd have enough money to hire someone else to build one for what you needed. These are for quick and easy solutions, or notna veryy heavy duty shed at all
This shit is always so overpriced. Cheap flimsy plastic with nothing special about it. Build one out lf wood for fraction of the cost. Cause don't forget, you still have to assemble these cheap ass things yourself
