I sorta "met" Wayne before I even knew who he was. I saw Fear Factory in a small club in Toronto in 1999 on their Obsolete tour. Place was packed, as every FF show was back then, and everyone was standing around waiting for the show to start. I was talking to a couple of friends when someone tapped me on the shoulder. I turned around and it was this guy with a goatee and his hair sticking straight up. And it was a lot of hair. I'm 6'4" and this guy was shorter than me, but his hair was above my head. He politely asked me if he could pass, so I stepped aside and let him through. Ten minutes later he was on stage. Hell of a show. I hadn't heard of them before. I hadn't heard about the second band before either. It was System of A Down. They tossed Nerf balls with S.O.A.D. written on them into the crowd and Serj talked about how the US government was using Northern Canada for military operations and what not. Two unknown bands, two great sets.
