Using flare unions for the long runs down the frame are perfectly fine. From the factory, freightliner custom chassis had at least 2 flare unions on the 19ft box trucks I worked on at FedEx. As long as you have double flared the tubing it’s 100%
What I do when I bend hard lines and seems to work for me is I get a metal hanger or 12 gauge wire (depending on the job) and bend it to shape what I need to bend and go back and use it as a template when I bend my hard lines it seems to work so I know exactly how much I need and what direction I need my bends to be
Nie work on the brake lines. Practice pieces are always a good idea. Look forward to more. Be safe and stay well.

Funny you mention that, I was under the orange truck earlier and it had a union

I was going to use tig wire, I know there’s probably not a metal hanger at this house but I wanted to know how that bender worked vs my measurements.
