    My God, this is beautiful. Would it ever be possible to commission one of these for an individual in the same line of work, without the range of tools to build one?

      Thanks so much! I'm really happy wi5h how it came out in the end :D
      Sadly, I don't really have the free time to build one on commission at the moment. Though I'd be happy to talk you through things if you would like to build one yourself. Getting the case 3D printed is probably the hardest part; I might be able to help you with that, but there is probably a company that does 3D printing closer to you that will be able to get it printed quicker. Everything else is just off-the-shelf parts you can find on amazon or aliexpress :)

    Most innovative cyberdeck I've seen to date. I love the use of the rail for adding other components (like the flipper0). This is a very professional looking build with many use cases (from my PoV). I'm checking out the build log and write up on Hackaday now with plans for potentially developing a derivative solution. Thanks for sharing this. Kudos on you :).

    • @GarrWolfdog
      @GarrWolfdog  Рік тому +1

      Heya! it's an Xreal Air HMD. the Xreal Air can eitehr be used like a regular par of glasses or with a black-out cover that clips on the front. So I 3D printed a new black-out cover that looks a bit more cyberpunk. Its a model I downloaded from somewhere and modifuled to attach to the HMD, but sadly I couldn't find where I got it from to credit the original creator.

    This really is the coolest cyberdeck and after doing a bunch of research, imo the best I've seen in terms of fitting the cyberpunk aesthetic! I really want to edit the designs to fit my own project dimensions so I've been slowly recreating the STL files in OpenSCAD, I'm currently finishing up the body Piece but I'm not sure on your measurements for the mounting holes in the bottom, your hackaday page mentions they're designed for use with most SBC being able to fit in them but I was curious on why you chose those specific ones (58 and then 47 mm differences on one axis, 49 on the other), if there's a standard you were following for example?
    Either way I love your work and would be happy to share my code as soon as I'm done if you'd like!

    • @GarrWolfdog
      @GarrWolfdog  10 місяців тому +1

      Thank you so much! :D
      I based the hole placements on the mounting holes on a raspberry pi; as that's what I had handy, and it would mean most RPI accessory boards would also be easy to mount. And a lot of the other SBC I've seen also use the same spec, ornclose enough to be workable. If I was to make a v2 of the case, though, I'd probably put effort into researching that 😅
      I'd love to see how your build comes out and what mods you make, if you'd be ok with sharing when its done? :D

    brilliant! Lots of things I appreciate about this. I've been messing with this sort of thing for a while, using a quest 2 instead of nreal airs (I see you got into it before they were xreal as well?). My question for you is; how do you use hdmi to connect your airs? I've always assumed they need to use a dp over usb-c interface; do you have a rad converter of some sort? Cheers!

    • @GarrWolfdog
      @GarrWolfdog  3 місяці тому

      Thanks so mcuh! :D I use a HDMI to USB-C dongle to connect nreal/xreal HMD. You'll need to find one that can also supply USB power though. This is the one I use www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B09LGVNXPK
      Anything that can supply 5v USB power will work, I usually use a spare powerbank :)

    • @GarrWolfdog
      @GarrWolfdog  6 місяців тому

      I don't have an Etsy store or anything at the moment, but I might be able to print some parts (once my printers are back upand running again). Although, THe case model files are free to use, so it might be easier and cheaper for you to take the files to a printing service close to you and get them to print it for you; they'll likely be able to help with the finishing and stuff too :)

    especially the touchpad, screen, cable extenders, handles, and rollbars, as I can't find anything that might work.

    • @GarrWolfdog
      @GarrWolfdog  10 місяців тому

      Heya! Thanks so much!
      There's componant list on my hackaday project log. if you drop any of those item names into amazon or aliexpress it should give you suitable compinants : hackaday.io/project/191858/components
      This is the same modle of touch as I got: www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B001CX85I8/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 if you open up the case you can then just take out the touchpad itself and remount it.
      The rollbars are just cupboard door handles. If you search for "U-shape cabenet handles" it should give you some good options. these are the ones I used: www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01MR5U43D/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1
      I can't find the link to screen anymore, but search for "8.8inch 480x1980 screen" on aliexpress and you'll get a bunch of suitable options.
      For the I/O pannel, just earch for " pannel mount" and you'll get options withe the right screws and such.
      Depending on the exact componants you can get hold of, you may need to modify the design slightly. but most of those mods will be on the frontpannel of the case, which is just a rectangle of plastic, with cut-outs, that bolts to the main chasis, so it should make any mod fairly easy in simple CAD software.
      Hope that helps! feel to buzz me with any questions though :)
