    I'm not even professionally involved with any security-type stuff anymore, but I LOVED this video.
    I would love seeing you go through various pieces of gear, and demonstrating use cases and basic-through-advanced applications for each tool presented. You have a surprisingly professional presence on screen, and you project a certain degree of authority through obvious competence and knowledge. If you were to expand your channel and dive deeper into hacking using your tools, I would be a regular viewer. It's not just the subject matter that captured my attention while watching this video, but your level of comfort and familiarity with each tool and its use. Not to mention, your general videography skills were more than one might expect for a small channel. You have quite a lot of potential here, with the added benefit of being able to educate people on your field, and the value of your profession.

      @Tetrazole although I get what you mean you need access to the software which in the end is ether internet conexion or a hard drive to store all of those programs, he probably has all the programs and scripts to do that but having always the hardware near you can be helpfull and faster if you are working instead of doing something with malicious intent. I see this more of a 'just in case' and 'fast use backpack'

      @HiroNewf 2 роки тому +2

      @Tetrazole These tools are for physical penetration testing of course which is a lot different from digital penetration testing (which is a lot more common). There are certain companies that desire to have physical penetration testing done and while the principles are similar across all types of penetration testing, how things actually get done is a lot different and it is really is two completely different skill sets and jobs for sure.

    • @HiroNewf
      @HiroNewf Рік тому

      @Tetrazole Some of them have their uses but I do agree that most of them are probably not needed yeah. They are cool things to mess around with and learn from, but I do doubt they many of them are used often in real life penetration tests, certainly not enough to justify having them as edc.

      It's an EDC (Every Day Carry) so its supposed to be practical and what you have every day.
      I know a thing or two about picks and I think his lock pics are a bit much for EDC
      my EDC always has a sweater, pocket knife, wallet, cell phone, headlamp and beanie, pens, notepad, Aukey 20000 mAh battery, headphones, sometimes iPad Pro (actually PRACTICAL). But, I would seem lame doing videos 😄

    • @Me__Myself__and__I
      @Me__Myself__and__I 3 роки тому +12

      @CLC Yeah. After further review I'd guess he works as a consultant being hired by companies to test on-site security. Its the only reason you'd need most of that gear. Compared to an off-site hacker testing remote vulnerabilities which would mostly be about computers and software hacking tools.

    • @lmaoroflcopter
      @lmaoroflcopter 3 роки тому +4

      @CLC I think it's legitimate though unlike many UA-cam techbros. It's clearly used. I carry similar kit to this on jobs but I compartmentalise it and carry what I need for that specific job, wouldn't dream carting what he carries around to every job.
      Key piece of kit he didn't seem to have, but is essential kit for any UK penetration tester who spends hours in DCs... A camping chair and a tiny stealth camping stool. The first for actual comfort, the second for when Sungard, or whomever deem your camping chair a H&S risk and confiscate the chair while you're on site, then you find a rack door to hide behind and deploy your little stool.

    on the note of soldering irons, you can get handheld self contained gas powered versions with a crazy about of tips (from hot cutting tips to the creative wood burning stuff) and they work really well! i found my electric iron wouldn't heat enough to consistently melt solder when outside if it was pretty cold, so not only did it fix the cold issue, but meant i don't need to worry about packing cables. As a cherry on top it added a crap ton of extra tools to my toolbox with all the tips available, while still taking up less space than a wall powered iron when counting the cable as well. mine is by the dremel brand but there are way more out there.

      The "Hacker Specific" devices like most of his kit, are added weight and can be retrieved from storage or setup and used when needed. They don't need to be carried around for EDC use. It's kinda "over compensation" to try and plan for every situation, and it makes you more reliant on gadgets.

    Fellow cyber security professional here nice to see your kit, actual useful kit too not just some arse playing hackerman.
    10 years in and after learning that heavy gear just breaks backpacks and my back, I pack for the job these days. Just like your organiser bags, I use bubm packing cubes and canvas zippable toolbags to split my kit appropriately.
    Agreed on the Ethernet cable, moving to extendable cables and straight through couplers was game changing, beats untangling a mess of 3m patch cables at the bottom of your bag.
    Oooh that oscilloscope looks interesting.
    Tip on the camera front, that is a beautiful camera you have there, but consider picking up something like a canon powershot superzoom compact.
    I used to rock an SLR on jobs but it was hardly covert. The powershot however is just as at home long lensing the WiFi password through an office window from 300 metres away or discretely palmed in your hand used to video at a high frame rate an office entrance on a walk by for later frame by frame review.
    Oh and the shark jack... I absolutely love using mine just for bypassing DLP. Mine runs a fairly simple payload, just runs up a dhcp server, SMB, NFS, ftp, http (with PHP upload script). Plug it into a host and use the "Captive portal/hotspot" option for bypassing enforced VPN connections.
    Bam you've got access to all the tools you need and can get your screenshots off of the target rig for evidence. :)

I would caution anyone out there who doesn't have at least a business card for a pen-testing outfit on you at all times: in several states your picks could be confiscated, and you could be charged with possession of burglary tools if you just roll around with them on you.
